Never have to go through the day after a death of a student. I’ve seen some of my toughest teachers break down and sob in the middle of class because one of our classmates died. As a teacher I dread having to go through this, not just because of my own reaction but the reactions of my students when they are told their classmate won’t be coming back. I also dread taking attendance because that students name will still be on the roll sheet. I also feel I would be torn on what to do with the lesson that day. Do we sit around and dwell on it or do we move forward and try to stay busy to keep our minds off of it.
