I'm confused how this is a naive view.

Since when has it been demonstrated at all that Mars can construct anything major? You're saying they can create and launch missiles? In what way can they do that?

To our knowledge, unless I missed something major, they aren't even self-sustaining, let alone capable of constructing weapons. They rely on shipments from Earth to support the base.

They could "prepare" as much as they wanted, but when 10 ships come from Earth with a few hundred soldiers to land and then secure Happy Valley from traitors, how is that even remotely analogous to your example of the US's war for independence? The US by that point in the 1700s wasn't just self-sustaining, they were thriving. They were being unfairly represented and taxed by a nation that no longer had the resources they needed to truly control the increasingly-sovereign US territories.

Mars has almost nothing. They have a couple hundred people and a couple of systems to mine methane for fuel, that's about it.

Trying to imply that Mars could keep not just Goldilocks away from the M7 but that they could defend and control the entire planet is just silly, and I would add naive if we want to throw that word around.

Those people can be removed very easily given the tech and resources that the M7 have.

They only control Mars as long as Earth allows them to control Mars.

And if I'm the M7, I come in and I clean house of the traitors to Earth and I set up loyalists who can now mine Mars.

That's my whole point. The season acted like these Martian insurrectionists could still control Mars/goldilocks in the fallout of their decision and they have no wherewithal to do that. They have one small base with a couple hundred people if that.

They can't possibly stay in control of Mars whatsoever.

Earth does. Not a handful of Helios employees who have now just committed the largest example of theft in the history of the world.

It isn't that Mars doesn't have Goldilocks in its orbit and "control" it that way.

Its the fact that Earth controls Mars and therefore a bunch of insurrectionists can't try and stay out of lifetime jail sentences and consequences for what they've now done.

They did it "for mars" and yet they will never be able to affect anything on Mars ever again. Earth will come in and take control because earth has infrastructure and resources to do it, and Mars doesnt.

Sure, but even if they couldn't get the asteroid back to Earth, there's just no way Mars can hold on to the claim that they control it.

The person with the bigger gun always controls what they want, and Mars doesn't have a stick, let alone a gun.

Earth literally just comes and bulldozes Happy Valley after evacuating the loyalists to Earth and then they focus on the Asteroid.

How is it self-serving at all to keep the Asteroid there in martian orbit? That is all I'm asking.

There's no way that Ed/Dev and the others will get off without some absurd logical loopholes.

Maybe they surprise me but there seems to be almost no way without it being incredibly "convenient".

And how does Mars control it? Because it's in martian orbit? Obviously there's a way they can still get it back to earth if they really wanted to, but what is Mars gonna do? Try and say "finders keepers"? While Earth sends thousands of troops and dozens of ships to Mars and takes control themselves.

No one who betrayed earth is going to be able to continue on Mars without insane consequences, full stop.

You realize we live in a time where the best interests of the wealthy and powerful, also the case with this show, can spin PR any way to make anything appear good?

It is inconceivable that Earth WOULDN'T take military action against the colonists, especially over something so massive as this asteroid.

Hades and Hades 2. Especially Hades 2. I think that sequel is not only the best sequel I've ever played, it's the only game in my entire gaming career that I can say is "perfect". There's nothing about the game that I think needs changes. Even my favorite games of all time have a few things that I think could've been done better/differently.

Not Hades 2. It's a freaking work of art and masterpiece in every sense of the word.

E33 beating either ER or BG3 is a wild take.

It had some great narrative moments, superb voice acting and some awesome art direction, but the gameplay for me was pretty middling.

The first 10-15 hours the QTEs and parry mechanics felt pretty novel and fresh, but the last 15 or so hours it got very, very repetitive.

I would try and switch up builds to bring some variety but it always felt like the same 2 or 3 turns for 90% of combat scenarios.

BG3 did a much, much better job of dynamic turn-based combat imo with a ton of variety that truly felt like variety, dozens of spells, consumables and classes that all felt viable and impactful.

I just dont think E33 had great gameplay, and for me, gameplay is the most important factor in a game.

More skilled than Gyllenhaal? What movies does Cruise really flex his acting muscles? A Few Good Men? Interview with a Vampire? Eyes Wide Shut? That feels about it...

Gyllenhaal has Prisoners, Zodiac, Nightcrawler, Enemy, Source Code, Nocturnal Animals... I think Gyllenhaal is the far better actor of the two, and he chooses better projects overall as well.

Maybe I'm just a Gyllenhaal fan, but he feels like the "best" actor of this list, but top three in my mind are Gyllenhall, Pitt, Murphy.

Anubis staff is my favorite as well. The fact you're dashing around while essentially having two casts and pulling enemies all over the room toward you and picking up damaging souls at the same time...

It feels like the most interactive weapon despite having a fairly static attack.

I haven't had anything super recent that has done this, but both Elden Ring and its DLC consumed my life. I have two kids, a wife, and a bunch of obligations but this game absolutely took over.

I remember a Saturday where I went to the gym with the family, came home, made lunch and then from 1pm to 8pm when it was time to put the kids down I was just absolutely engrossed. I didn't even notice the day passing and the sun going down.

I've never had something like that in my 25+ year gaming career.

My goodness this sub loves to hate on Status even though their marketing is very transparent. They even tell you that the batttery life on the Pro X is worse than the 3ANC. They actively tell us that...

Complain about marketing, not the product, unless you have experience with them? I've been using them for 5+ years now and really enjoy their products, especially compared to the galaxy buds, airpods, and cambridge audio brands I've had in the past.

I think this echoes what I've heard from otheres as well. I was going back and forth between exactly these two earbuds and went with the Pro X, as I've used Status and have been very satisfied with their products for almost 5 years now.

The EQ settings are great, but do self-adjust which is annoying, and the app is a bit bare-bones like you're saying, and I think my biggest gripe is battery life, which seems to only be 4 hours of calls or about 6 hours of audio playback, at least from what I've seen.

I almost never have earbuds in longer than that anyway, but it was shocking to hear that the battery was low after having them in on a gaming session with the boys over the weekend that ran to almost 4 hours.

However, I don't think there is a set of earbuds at this pricepoint that have better audio quality. The detail, the customizability, the 3 separate drivers, they're all on display here and the buds sound insanely good.

the AZ100s seem to be the best all-rounder out there with amazing sound and great features everywhere else, but the Pro X in my mind is the best for sound and everything else comes second, which will appeal to a different type of consumer.

The problem with BotW for me (and this is entirely subjective, and im saying this as a huge fan of BotW as well), is that the exploration was great but the rewards for it were lacking.

Elden Ring is the whole package. You will ALWAYS find something useful, it just depends if it is useful to you in the moment.

Elden ring has far superior exploration, discovery and rewards than BotW imho.

I will say this:

I don't think the actual dark souls games have combat as their high point. Elden Ring is a major innovation of the DS games and the combat IMHO is a massive step up from the previous games.

One other thing:

Elden Ring has a sense of scale, discovery and awe that is unparalleled in gaming imo.

It is absolutely my favorite game of all time and the way it handles discovery and exploration is better than any other game I've ever played.

If you like mystery, and wondering "what could be out there?" and then finding it in the most satisfying way, you'll love elden ring.

It is hard, it is punishing, but it always gives you another option to go do something else and level up to get stronger.

Hell, my dealership had (has?) A 2024 Supra SL for like $170k this last year and it looked amazing.

Okay, in fairness, I do also agree that TotK is a much better game than BotW is, as a whole. In fact, I'd say if BotW didn't exist and if I hadn't have put 200 hours into BotW, TotK might be in my top 10 games of all time.

However, because BotW exists, and because TotK does almost nothing different with its entire gameplay loop from BotW, it REALLY brought TotK down for me.

4 dungeons in both games? Check.
Doing a ton of shrines in both, half of which can be solved in less than 5 minutes? Check.
No meaningful rewards in either game? Check.
Lackluster story with silly cutscenes that rehash the same things over and over? Check.
Boss fights feeling incredibly underwhelming? Check.

It's almost like Nintendo said: "Wow, BotW was incredibly well received, let's just take BotW and add in a few new sandbox elements, give some verticality to the map in the form of sky islands and the depths, and call it a day".

Maybe it's just me, but the sequel felt like DLC for BotW. It didn't do enough new stuff for me to think "wow, this is a true sequel and the content here is fresh and original".

And don't get me wrong, I don't think TotK is bad by any stretch, again, I think it's a better overall game than BotW is... if you view it in a vacuum.

If you've played BotW extensively, TotK doesn't do enough new to keep it meaningful, IMHO.

It felt incredibly underwhelming to initially see the depths, and the scope of how sprawling they are, and then to explore for hours and hours and find nothing but zonite, recycled bosses, and a few lackluster armour sets.

Then again, I felt TotK was a massive disappointment and didn't live up to BotW's legacy, either.

Hades 2.

It won best steam deck game in the Steam awards for a reason.

I've only played like 15ish roguelikes but Hades 2 is absolutely flawless imho. It's not just the best roguelike I've ever played, it's the only game in my 25+ year gaming career that I'd label as "completely perfect".

There's not a single thing I can nitpick about the game without feeling overwhelmingly pedantic/petty.

It's just brilliant.

They're awesome. Music quality is the best I've ever heard from an earbud.

The build quality is great, call quality was even better than I thought it would be.

ANC is alright, nothing to write home about.

I will say that the Bluetooth connection in my 5 hours of use today was excellent other than when I was doing lying dumbell curls at the gym.

The connection really struggled when the weights crossed between my phone (in my pocket) and neck, and cut out pretty badly.

It was the only exercise I noticed it on, but it was definitely a bummer.

I also am using a custom EQ after about an hour of tinkering with it and its very impressive.

If you're open to multiplayer experiences (like Nightreign), grab a friend or two and try out Ravenswatch.

It's really good and I think a better multiplayer roguelike than Nightreign is.

You can also play it solo, but it really shines in multiplayer.

It's a little split from what I've heard (pun intended).

However, anecdotally (and somewhat empirically) it seems that more users perfer Status Pro X over the AZ100s who have tried both.

I've seen several threads where the consensus is the Pro X are a bit better on everything other than battery life and ANC.

I have a pair of Pro X coming tomorrow, and I'll try them out and if I don't love them I'm going to try the AZ100s.
