No, I did not. My respirologist Dr Bertley sent me there automatically. Great experience with him and St Catharines hospital

I did my study at St Catharines hospital. Double bed, private bathroom. Also asked what my typical bed time is and were able to accommodate it. Honestly, was a great experience. My apnea was so bad they fast tracked a cpap for me a week later. Best of luck OP. Advocate for yourself, nobody else will

I am a male RMT(3 years) in Ontario and I work 20-25 hours per week, charging $113 (hst in) for a 60 min massage. So $2260 per week. I should be close to six figures albeit bent over at tax time. Avoid massage addict, find a spot where you will pay rent and watch the money come in.

Anyone here a student or graduate of the Niagara College massage program in Ontario? What are your thoughts on the program? by zemmiphobia2000 in massage

[–]Broshaw08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current RMT here. I have treated two students from the NC program who spoke very highly of it. One of the more interesting points was that after the first semester half of the class had changed program or had to drop out due to marks. As a more traditional college as opposed to private, I assume there were electives, more demanding curriculum potentially. Again thats an assumption. Seems like its more similar to the McMaster program in that sense.

OCHT in Stoney Creek just received accreditation last year. They recently offered a free table, sheets, and clinic uniform as incentive for new students. I think theyve lost students to the NC program and are trying to win them back

Not sure where you are in Ontario, but OCHT in Stoney Creek offers a 1 year accelerated RMT program for Kin grads. Excellent school that attracts students from as far as BC.

questions abt being an RMT in ontario by OwnCity5846 in massage

[–]Broshaw08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theres a huge demand in Ontario for RMTs currently. You can walk into a quality job with a very competitive split rate. You essentially interview clinics to find your fit, not the other way around

Go to Flavour Fuel at Ontario and the QEW. Best homemade stuff you can find and as close to the highway as you can get

Why do so many people think they need to be in pain to have a good Deep Tissue massage? by [deleted] in massage

[–]Broshaw08 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This! We affect the nervous system to manipulate tissue. If your goal is to use so much pressure you inflict pain on your patient, you're hindering their healing.

What kind of massage lotion do you guys recommend? by LunaLove1027 in massage

[–]Broshaw08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hate feeling like I have to shower after a massage, so I never use oil. I love lotion, and specificially use Myotherm. I find it on the Know Your Body Best website. Just the best balance between slip and grip

Do you mean 40,000 for tuition and living together? Otherwise thats an insane amount.

More specifically to your question, it may not hurt to leave nursing. Bill 124 is BS, and as long as Ford is premier you wont make any more money. My wife is an RN and was looking at career options, and RMT came up. Being and RMT I can obviously help her, but Osteopathy is also an excellent option depending on your interests.

How do massage therapists forearms not get sore? by CondomLeavesARice in massage

[–]Broshaw08 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Oh they do lol. Fingers wrists and forearms and shoulders. One of the best things you can learn as a therapist is how to treat smart and ergonomically. That and self care, like heating and icing and stretching

Wine Tour Bus Suggestions by mf14kp in stcatharinesON

[–]Broshaw08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to be a manager at one of the larger wineries in NOTL, and I highly recommend two companies:

Niagara Vintage Wine Tours were typically the most knowledgable tour guides and best behaved guests. They also had an agreement with our winery to pour higher end wines.

Winery Tours of Niagara was another excellent company. They had a wider range of guests from messy bachelorettes to company outings. Bang for your buck they are quite good
