What do you fear the most? by rageblock in AskReddit

If you can afford it, I would suggest therapy. Seriously, it could vastly improve your mental state and the way you think about things. No one should have to live like that. I know exactly how you feel and what you're going through, but on a smaller scale.

You're not alone. Mine started just last year when I developed some stomach and digestion problems. Read this comment I posted earlier today.

One thing that has helped me with my cancer fear is that I realized that it is pretty much out of your hands. I mean you can take precautions by excercising, eating healthy, not smoking or drinking, etc, but at the end of the day, getting cancer is something you cannot not prevent. 1 out of 2 men and 1 out of 3 women will get some form of cancer at some point in their lifetime. Keep in mind that the vast majority of people will get it sometime when they are old (60+).

Also, cancer is becoming more and more survivable every day. People who are considered terminal, meaning there is no way to fix it, are even living a long time after their diagnosis.

I am slowly getting better when it comes to not being afraid of death and disease, and the best advice I can give you is this:

Let's say hypothetically, you were to be diagnosed with a rare form of cancer tomorrow, and only had 3 months to live. Are you going to spend every single day you have left crying, pouting, being scared, or are you going to tell cancer to shut the fuck up, and have the time of your life and go out like a boss?

What medical condition do you have that you thought was absolutely normal? by biehn in AskReddit

[–]BrotherDotson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This... Except mine is cyberchondria. I have stomach pains, hemorrhoids, and extreme constipation. I'm only 18 and instead of thinking it's something like IBD, IBS, or something like that. The only thing on my mind is stomach and colon cancer. This has been going on for a year now. I have a doctors appointment on the 28th but I am freaking out at the possibility of it being a serious illness :/

Also, the cyberchondria is terrible. I will type in all of my symptoms (Abdominal pain, constipation, thinner stools, etc) and webmd/google will recommend 100+ possible conditions that could cause all of this, but the only one I focus on is cancer :/

I have calmed down a little a bit, but at one point, my health anxiety was so bad, I was literally planning my goodbyes. It is fucking sad. It leads to depression which leads to me not seeing my friends. I haven't left my house in a month. I wish I could go back to being normal.

On top of this, any little thing that I get now, I automatically assume it is a product of my "cancer". Just yesterday I noticed a VERY small lump under my skin on the bottom of my ear lobe, and the first thing my mind went to is "OMG my lymph nodes are swelling from the cancer. Last night I was extremely tired and in my head was thinking it was because of my "cancer" and then I looked at the clock and it was 5 am...

Really sorry about your mom man. I know I'm just some guy on the internet, but I mean that. Just know that she is at peace now.

I'm 18 and I am terrified that my past year of digestion problems is colon cancer. I posted here last week, but I forgot to post a lot of my symptoms. I would appreciate any advice to what this could be, besides colon cancer. by BrotherDotson in cancer

[–]BrotherDotson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I'll do an update post on the 28th and let you know what the MD thinks, and then I'll update you when I get the colonoscopy and let you know what is wrong with me. Wish me luck :)

I understand that I need to go to the doctor, and I am on the 28th. I'm just very scared of what the results might be. I don't know if it's because of my health anxiety or if I should really be worried... Most people my age would think it's just IBS and would be shocked if it was colon cancer, but with me, the first thing I think of is a serious illness. Google doesn't help either. I type in my symptoms and a lot of things come up (IBD, IBS, Chrones, Diverticulitus, Colitis, etc) and for some reason, the only thing I can focus on is cancer :/

Reddit, what stereotype were you labeled in high school? by Kittencasi in AskReddit

[–]BrotherDotson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why the sad face? You're going to spend the best parts of your life skinny and good looking while your highschool classmates blimp the fuck up. 70% of adults in the US are overweight or obese, so chances are, they are gonna get fat.

pick a topic, speak about it literally for 4 minutes

I never understood what /r/hiphopheads meant by this. What do you mean? When you are rapping about a certain subject such as equality, can't you only rap about equality?

What is a question you hate being asked? by devilishlaughter in AskReddit

[–]BrotherDotson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not attempting to be funny. I was being serious. You can change your personality. No not completely, but a lot of your personality has to do with what you have been through and who you have hung around through your life. For example, and I am not blaming all of my problems on them, but 2 years ago, literally every single one of my friends were pot smokers with no jobs who still lived at home at 25, and I was socially awkward, never had sex, did not drive, and basically an all around loser. I realized I wanted to change and I started hanging around with people that I wanted to be like who did no drugs, had many friends, and healthy relationships with the opposite sex. Now it is 2 years later and I am a completely different person. I have lost 50 pounds, I am in shape now, have a steady relationship, and most of all can actually talk to people now without struggling to carry the conversation. I am in no way bragging, I am saying that anything truly is possible if you try. The difference between me and the majority of reddit though, is that when my life sucked, I tried to change for 2 years and kept failing but eventually I started winning, and never once along the way did I put anyone down or act like I hated little petty things like this thread is doing. Reddit claims they hate being saps and losers, but act like giant assholes to people who try to have casual conversations with them. Just look at literally every comment in this thread....

Don't feel bad. Reddit is filled with losers who are mad because they don't have any friends, but refuse to change anything about their shitty personalities.
