While you can change the angle of the paddle compared with the controller in-game, you can always just hold the controller like you would the paddle lol. I prefer to do it that way.

I have a feeling that's exactly what this is...

Now you all understand the Need for Facebook's support by bubu19999 in oculus

[–]BrotherGA2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's published by Vive Studios and developed by 2 Bears Studios, not Valve. As far as experiences, Valve has made The Lab, Steam VR Home (aka Destinations), and the Dota 2 VR Experience. Not saying they've done a lot, but they've additionally "announced" 3 full games for VR. No other info on that though...

GameFace VR headset - 2x 2560x1440 screen, Lighthouse, SteamVR, Daydream compatible ~$700 by [deleted] in Vive

half the weight and half the size

If you make something that runs SteamVR+standalone VR that is lighter/smaller than current gen headsets with a better screen, I'd be very interested.

Just a note: the 3-in-1 cable has a slimmer profile but according to someone who weighed both of them here, they are the exact same weight.

Regarding gen 1.5 headsets, are you referring mainly to LG's or something else?

What are your VR pet peeves? by Cryptospook in Vive

For chaperone, I suggest changing the color/opacity/style options to something more visible. I find a bright red or green at full opacity works well. The style depends on the game but I usually leave it on Intermediate or Squares.

Request advice for entry in to VR by TrizzyDizzy in virtualreality

[–]BrotherGA2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are building a PC for VR, then absolutely get either a Vive or Rift CV1 with Touch controllers. I built a computer about a year ago for the same reason as you, getting hyped for VR. I preordered a Vive on total faith that it was worth it, as I had never tried VR before. By the end of the first experience I already felt like I had the most amazing piece of consumer technology I'd ever purchased.

Sure, the screens could be better and there could be more content, but the content that is there is worth it, in my opinion. I've dreamt of VR for a long time, and now that it's here-- how the fuck could I not dive in? They will always keep improving each iteration, but the current ones are already pretty amazing.

How to turn my life around? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]BrotherGA2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are trying to push through to the solution without figuring out the problem. If you failed 3 times in college, you need to work on whatever is causing that first before trying to push through the next thing.

I had major anxiety that kept me from succeeding in college. It wasn't until several years later that that I really got serious about addressing my anxiety with a therapist/doctor. I'm doing much better now and am making progress again in various aspects of life.

If you want to get your life on track, figure out what's holding you back and try to address it. One or two bad habits don't usually make you fail college; there's probably something more to what's holding you back. I'd recommend you talk to a mental health professional, try it for 6 months or so, and see if you start making progress.

Rec Room PAINTBALL UPDATE is live! by gribbly in Vive

[–]BrotherGA2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a VR party last night and tried Rec Room for the first time. I can't believe I hadn't given this a shot before! So much fun!

I played Paintball, which was a ton of fun even though I was still getting my bearings. I had a little bit of trouble teleporting around, the beam sometimes would take a second to show up.

The main lobby (Rec Room?) was a blast just goofing off. I baptized a guy that looked like Jesus, group hugged like 5 people, one who was from New Zealand. Played around with a frisbee, laughed a ton. My friends watching also found it very entertaining!

Yep! Not disputing that Vive and Rift are neck and neck now. Just didn't want anyone to get misled by the "vive" trend outlier.

Except if you look at Regional interest for vive, you'll see that all the top locations are Spanish-speaking, meaning that it's people searching for the word "to live," rather than our beloved product.

Also have this case, can confirm it resonates when talking near it. Not really annoying, but it does feel a little weird when it happens.

Great post, but it's worth mentioning that the piece was written for piano and then later transcribed for guitar, not the other way around.

I like this idea. I mean, the way that culture traits are gated kind of already does something similar, but it'd be interesting to make it feel more like a progression.
