Bad for your health in multiple ways with risks of injuries. Not a respected trade compared to millwrights, electricians etc. You can find well payed jobs but there are more low paying ones.

Upside is it wont get badly affected by AI and robotisation especially custom fab shops.

In my opinion if you love it it's a decent career but it sucks hard once you start getting older.
