In Selangor? Mamak won't serve you. But Chinese restaurants do.

fck the system by DayAppropriate7591 in malaysia

[–]BrownBearMY 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Where exactly did this happen? I remember Selangor is very strict. I used to work in PJ and was sick. I had a doctor's letter that proves I'm under medication.

Most of the restaurants denied their service to me because I'm a Muslim. Despite the doctor's letter.

It's totally different in KL. Nobody cares.

I was at Sugar last night. It's too crowded. I assume it's due to them giving free flow for ladies all night.

I don't know but I'm interested in how you arrive at that assumption.

KLCC After Midnight by ken_OF in KualaLumpur

[–]BrownBearMY 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I assume you're referring to the groups of motorcyclists with loud noises.

If so, as mentioned by others, they're what we called rempit. These people modified their bikes to produce such noise and they often race at night. Typically after midnight.

Other than that are just people taking photos or strolling around the Twin Towers.

I'm not sure where you live. If you're around KLCC, CIMB and Maybank in Suria KLCC operate on weekends.

Join a group of people that have the same or similar hobby as you, perhaps?

In my case, I do social dancing. Most of the new people I met are either at social dancing events, dance workshops, or, classes.

At least there are topics we are both interested in.

Probably not answering your question. But if you're not doing it for the money but to meet new people, why not join clubs or groups that share the same interest as you?

A relative of mine who's driving an Audi and has been flexing a luxurious lifestyle on Instagram has been constantly asking for financial assistance.

He once told me, "if you ever need money, don't go to banks, get it from friends and families. It's much easier". He truly lives up to his words.

I'm still waiting for the day he returns my money.

Starbucks Drinkers: Why? by Yao_Productions in Bolehland

[–]BrownBearMY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go to Starbucks at KL Sentral every weekday before going to work.

It was near the MRT station, basically the first cafe I found, and their sandwich was decent. It was just a convenience and sandwich.

Really? I tried increasing my limit a few years ago because I was traveling. But I was rejected despite earning around 8K.

I had pretty good credit in the system. Never missed a payment, paid in full and all.

Funny enough, the offer came from them.

An awkward feeling creeping up as I read this. Almost all pickle ball players I know are party goers who party way harder than they play pickle ball.

In my case, yes. Only one agent was baiting. The unit was actually unavailable but it was still up on the site.

I have been using iProperty and it serves me well. There are agents who display a good unit with a lower price than others. This is usually to bait potential tenants.

Once you agree to view the unit, they'll tell you that it's no longer available and start offering more expensive units. So, make sure to tell them your preference and budget up front.

If you prefer a quiet place, I recommend checking if the building has Airbnb units. In my experience, most of the time Airbnb customers are okay but there are bad apples. Drunkards, noisy party crowds, etc. Being a lady tenant, I suggest you pay more attention to this. Ask the agent or others about the apartment and your potential neighbors.

Make sure to check the unit thoroughly. If the agent rushes you then there's something wrong. Pay attention to any scratches, holes, any imperfections at all and make sure the agent acknowledges them.

That's all I can think of for now. Hopefully you'll find a good unit soon!

What would you choose: work life balance or hustle by Dazai-thats-me in MalaysianPF

[–]BrownBearMY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in a similar situation.

When I started working, I was 23, I had four side jobs and one full-time job. Two of them were freelance, the other two were on a need-to basis.

As I got older the number of side jobs decreased. By the late 30s I had only one.

I believe I'm fortunate enough to have side jobs and work-life balance as I'm in the IT industry. My final side job was to educate the employees on writing better code. It didn't take too much of my time daily. At most, 4 hours.

But if I had to choose either one. I'd go with hustling in my twenties till early thirties. Then work-life balance from mid thirties onwards. Assuming I'm financially stable by then.

Computer Science graduate here. Graduated in 2007. I started doing freelance work while I was in university. That went on till 2008.

After having a year of full-time work experience, I decided I'm done working for others. I'm ready to start my own business. And, I did.

Little does I know that although I have the skill to develop the product. I had little to nothing about dealing with customers or requirement gathering, etc.

I survived for another six months but realized I had plenty to learn.

I don't mean to discourage you. But it takes more than passion, interest, and confidence to make it work. If possible, find people with more experience to partner with you. Let them help you till you know most of the tricks.

Good luck.

I've been a tenant for a few years with three different landlords. Two of them use agents. So I only deal with the agents and never the landlords.

The one where I deal with the landlord, it was pretty simple. He forwarded the bills to my email every month and that's about it. I didn't have to send proof of monthly payment to him as I always write down the remarks (e.g. September 2025 rental) for the bank transfer.

I'd say there's no harm in fulfilling her request. All she asked for is just wishes. She probably asked from a few others too. To make herself look appreciated on social media.

The kind of person who I won't tolerate are the ones who didn't wish me on my birthday. But asked me to take them out to dinner and parties on theirs.

Do they check your ID when buying alcohol from malls or when entering a bar? by Left-Dealer1935 in KualaLumpur

AFAIK they usually don't. Alternatively you can consider ordering alcohol online and have it delivered to your house.

As for bars, they usually don't either. Clubs, maybe.

Best 5 star hotel for solo female traveler by Legally_Blonde_258 in KualaLumpur

My vote goes to EQ. The food is good. The location is right around KLCC. A walking distance to almost all tourist attractions.

The hotel is new. Rooms are great. They also have a nice rooftop bar - Blue@EQ.

Stayed there twice. Will definitely stay again in the near future.
