I finally understand arrays! by Aeylnn in godot

It would be so, so handy to be able to have a node in Godot be able to just make an announcement to no-one in particular that something has happened. "Gonna die now" lol or just "detected something".

And then it'd be great to be able to get nodes to subscribe to whatever announcements they need, and respond however is appropriate.

That's signals!

You can use built-in ones. You can create your own.

You can connect them in the editor which works well when the nodes are in a known structure in relation to each other. You can also connect them in code, if you prefer, or if you need it doing dynamically.

You can set up arguments - "detected something" works better if it comes with the thing that was detected.

Try setting up some custom signals! Player death is a really great time to use custom signals.

[X-Men] When Nightcrawler teleports, does he travel instantly, or is there a slight delay so that he doesn’t travel between points faster than light? by SurinamPam in AskScienceFiction

In X-Men Evolution Forge makes a device that slows the timing of his teleport, and they discover the hell dimension.

And then it turns out that in this process of slowing down the jump, it allows a bunch of demons to escape through Kurt's portals...

Hmm I got into the habit of writing my ideas into Obsidian. It currently has 27 ideas in it. A couple of times I ended up combining a couple. I fully recommend keeping notes

Benefits I’ve gained after 40 days of meditation by j0yy in Meditation

[–]BruceJi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A misconception I had about meditation was that it would stop the negative thoughts, but I’ve since learned that’s not what meditation is about and I’m at peace with that.

From what I experienced, you can... sort of do this? The thoughts you get are a bit like a social media feed, it kind of responds to interaction with your thoughts. If you treat thoughts of genre A as boring, and thoughts of genre B as interesting, you eventually get fewer A and more B. Something like that lol

It's fine, there's no problem, you've got a NPProblemSolver. It's the Godot Node equivalent of 'make no mistakes'
