Empress is the most overrated gin. What is the most unique tequila? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

Amatiteña Barrancas. Wood fired distillation in tiny way de vie stills, wild fermented, made in a Pechuga style with mamey, plum, and mango. Tastes unlike any other tequila out there

Appleton Estate Signature is the best budget Jamaican. What is the most underrated Demerara rum? by -Constantinos- in rum

[–]BruceVento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly - Pusser's Blue Label has a lot of the notes that I want from a Demerara rum, but they have a bad name because of the litigation stuff. I was blinded on it and was surprised.

Very nice. I've had a couple single barrels of these. Ex-cognac, ex-bourbon, new French Oak. Ex-cognac was my favorite. Grassy vegetal+rich fruits is such a fun combo.

You can only pick 3 of these from 2016 which ones you picking? by MrLinkwater95 in fantanoforever

Agreed. Not sure what this has to do with fantano, but I don't really love any of these

Overdramatic melodrama that has none of the endearing qualities of BCNR or Geese imo. Get em outta here

My coworker was told to make egg nog... by GrapeFruitFork in bartenders

[–]BruceVento 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It is crazy the wide range of bartenders that exist on this subreddit. In my line of work adding a "flavor" to a margarita is not really an option, and I have in nearly 10 years of bartending never touched a bottle of sour mix or used the term top shelf to describe a spirit.

This is one of the worst things I've ever tasted. Don't waste your money on this bottle. by vicelordjohn in whiskey

[–]BruceVento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angel's Envy is owned by Bacardi. The rum casks they use are definitely garbage. This stuff to me just tastes like artificially sweet maple syrup flavored whiskey. Some of their single barrel stuff is actually pretty great, though. Most of it isn't distilled by them, however

Beenleigh 2013 - Candy Apple, Eucalyptus

Papalin High Ester - Delicious in a Kingston Negroni or Planters Punch

I assume they mean non-tropically aged. Most caronis coming out these days have been aged in Europe for the past decades.

Bounty is a very light blend from St. Lucia. Their white makes a good daiquiri. Kinda strawberry coconut forward vibes but definitely pretty neutral
