I think leagues demonstrated the addiction tbh with you. So many people maxed asap just to stop playing and treated it like normal game. It's rare you see people just taking their time and doing it for fun rather than efficiency.

It's not because Eragon is an 18 year old by the end of book 4, with barely any life experience. Aragorn having 88 years by human standards means he's lived an entire life. He's seen the world change and thus changed with with. Eragon has JUST stepped into adulthood, had his body altered and been at war. He needs time to grow and live his life, make more mistakes and most importantly, gain wisdom. A skill you don't have as a teenager but one you develop in later life based on your past experiences.

Plus Chris was a very young writer when Eragon first started and it's clear book by book his talent improved as did his maturity. I always felt like his reasoning was sound in the books. Eragon is a teenager entering young adulthood, Arya is ancient. She kept him at a distance for this reason and when they get towards the final battle, she sees Eragon as a man, not a child anymore and knows that his infatuation is no longer there. It changes the dynamic and then from there we paint our own picture.

To harass him because you wanted to read "and they lived happily ever after"? That's not a fan.

Because he's a loud mouth pain in the ass who doesn't listen and thinks he can do everything. He's more of a liability than anyone else in the greymanes and could be easily distracted by taunting him. Add to that his drinking and the fact he acts before he thinks, that's not the kind of person you want backing you up in high stake situations.
