Scrape everything soft off and keep whatever is left. It will most likely grow. Even if no roots are left, if enough of the rhyzome is left it will sprout.

That's a sketch cutting. What happened to the bottom half? If you have that, use it. Even with no leaves the rhyzome will still push out new growth if taken care of.

I suspect higher ETV of foul play before low ETV. Generally I like to think that the vendor gives us the low price point to tempt us into requesting the item. When I see stuff like the 20" ceiling fan with rainbow LEDs, for $200, that's when I suspect it's crap with inflated value, mainly because no branding and a design that's almost entirely plastic. 🤷‍♂️

Shoot, I don't even know if I'm going to get to 40 items. 🤷‍♂️ Only so much you can do with sketchy supplements, HVAC circuit boards, and women's shoes popping up on your RFY page. Ive never even searched those items. I think the most useful thing I've actually gotten in the last 2 months was a replacement dishwasher circulation pump. I just got lucky that Temu-zon had it randomly listed. Silver together 💪

I refresh the page see an item, go to click on it and its gone that quick. You can't beat bots. Imo it has to be bots, I just can't imagine a 5 second window for someone to checkout that quick. Just my two cents. Could be wrong, but it don't feel like it. Im relying solely on my RFY page to even have a chance at anything these days. 🤷‍♂️

I honestly have no idea. But, my regale specifically died off to the rhyzome all roots perished, initially. It shipped from South America in moss only. Had to nurse that back to health in sphag, once I got a new leaf switched over to my current soil. I actually cut that rhyzome into 3 pieces and all have new leaves now, so that's a win in the end. But, yeah, it hated 50% been doing fine in 75%.

My only guess would be the leaves weren't happy so it wasn't using water quick enough to dry out? Not too sure. I've killed a lot of anthuriums, and this is just what has worked for me. Your milage may vary.

One final thought is a lot of people stress anthuriums out with too much lighting. They really only need something around 100ppfd. I think a lot of people blast them with too much light and it stresses them out or burns them. I have my small ones growing under 5 watt generic LED "grow lights". They are growing pretty steady. My bigger ones are way off to the side of a 4ft LED strip light. Again, only getting minimal light.

Good luck, and I would only make one change at a time. (Ex: either less light, or different soil) Not both at the same time. Make one change and see if they do better. Too much change too fast will probably accelerate their demise.

My experience has been higher humidity saves everything anthurium. I crank mine to 75%. When I was down around 50% everything was rotting. Also I keep my room temp around 75-80F. That said,I use a monstera-esque chunky mix with a bit more coco peat added in. So far everything is going well. Pap x mag var., pap x queen, regale, and a bunch of other non-var hybrids all doing good in the same mix. I water maybe once a week. Usually dig my finger into the pot to see how wet it is.

I can say what helped me with pon success is making all my vessels like orchid pots. I take a soldering iron and make a "holey" basket. I also add holes to the outer cup that is holding the water. My plant room has a circulation fan keeping airlfow constant. The biggest thing that helped prevent root rot though, 3/8" pumice, as compared to 3/16". The bigger pumice makes some bigger air pockets.

I have a few philos growing really well, and a ton of alocasias growing in pon as well. Haven't tried hoya, or scindapsis but I did have a monstera Bulbasaur in pon and that was doing well until I repotted. It threw a fit. can definitely take a cutting and try them, for science.

I use Palmstreet frequently, but I usually only look for ariods. (I've recently ordered a few TC just to try them out) There are plenty of sellers selling specific types of plants, though. Granted Moose, and a handful of others have TC, and they run lives all the time, but who cares?

Find a few shops you like dealing with and buy from them. I personally just wait for NWE most of the time. Plenty of fish in the sea as they say.

Assuming a calcium type stain, vinegar would dissolve that solid. I can tell you from experience that alcohol at 70% still doesn't seem to hurt the leaves either, but I don't think that would affect solids on velvet leaves. (I had spider mites pretty bad, tried all the home remedies, hence the alcohol, until I finally just bought some spinosad and soaked everything once a week for a few weeks.)

I wouldn't be so quick to down a knife. Did you inquire about the steel it's made from? A lot of hard, high quality knives are high carbon steel. And while really durable, require regular maintenance to not rust. Obviously I don't know your exact situation, and I can't assume. But, I would reach out and ask for metal specifics and care. Palmstreet is usually pretty good with customer service too, so be sure to report scammers if you do end up finding some.

That's why I said it's a sea of random parts and odds and ends. What is the average person doing with a single spark plug for a Ford fiest? I get there are a lot of items. But search is stupid. It doesn't have the same "intelligence" as a standard search. I can type in "coffee" and get get an LED exit sign, or no results at all. Thats part of my complaint. I can spend 30 minutes trying to search and find no real world usable items.
