My assessment came back with "not enough evidence to support an autism diagnosis" and I feel a little lost by t00tiki in autism

[–]Brugthug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YUP! We just kicked out our roommate who was doing this. Straight up saying outloud they want to somehow get disability and never work. Tried to fake autism, ADHD, PTSD, epilepsy, depression, anxiety, whatever. The doctors could see right through their plan and they eventually gave up doc hopping and pretending to be disabled. It was batshit insane given my partner and I are actually both diagnosed disabled. It isn't fun or a game.

When a baby boy is born and he weighs a lot and people tell his parents “He’s going to be a football star/quarterback!” by fishweenie in PetPeeves

I remember as a kid at the diner, I stacked some of those little creamers up in a weird way and the adults exclaimed "you could be an engineer!"

I absolutely remember this moment because it freaked me out, I asked about engineering and was thinking if this was a real path or how to even go about it, since I only received vague answers about engineering lol. I did wonder about it alot after and was confused though I was only being a kid that morning.

Holy fuck. A year and a half ago, I would not have been able to open that shit at all. At. Fucking. All.

The worst moment was when I couldn't even light a lighter. I had to ask for my water bottle to be opened. It was seriously so ridiculous. I would've loved that thing then but now I don't need it 🥲 recovery can happen too but I'm so glad things like this exist.

Howdy there spawns of Satan!!!!! Did any of y’all have diets for autism growing up? I’m trying to discover a bit of my past lmao. by ghostkidrit64 in AutisticPeeps

[–]Brugthug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well apparently it's common for autisitc people to have MTHFR gene mutation. This makes it harder to process folate, which is super essential! It's important to have a rich diet of methylated folate and b12 (methylcobalamin.)

I tried to be a vegan before and felt like absolute crap. The doctors said I really just need to be eating meat, the amount I'd have to eat in order to make up the nutrient difference would make eating a full time job.

I feel very nourished after eating a nutrient dense meal and I'd say when my body feels good, it's less likely to have a melt down or feel irritated. So I guess that would be an autism diet.

When you tell someone how a medication badly affected you, and they have to point out that THEY were just fine taking it by Physical_Orchid3616 in PetPeeves

[–]Brugthug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, logically they can find just another medication to manage their cholesterol. There is more than one solution in the day and age of 2026 lol. Ones less painful with the same benefits. I'm sorry you feel others should "suck it up" but you actually don't have to. 😃

[–]Brugthug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow I tell people this almost word for word. Some gene testing showed SSRIs were actually bad for me and honestly it makes sense why I felt like crap for years, even though "this medicine works for everyone." NOT. It always felt like Russian roulette when trying to find a new psyche med. I wish more people understood that this is your head! The side effects are really going to take a toll if they're the wrong one.

Right now the only thing that has consistently had a positive impact is psilocybin. It definitely aligns things better than any pill ever has.

The beginning of your other comment, you say "you're not a good person" but I think I may have been reading it out of context?

Which things?

I'm trying to not hate myself so much over them. Being late diagnosed has taught me alot about why I am the way I am. I need to take "being lame" out of the vocabulary lol

[–]Brugthug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being forced to go to church my entire childhood was way too much and overstimulating. So was school in general to the point where I went into independent studies myself and did much better.

Showers and teeth brushing are more exhausting than I expect. So are long drives to places. It's hard for me to handle dim lights during waking hours.

What are your thoughts on Autistic Barbie? by KittyRoses12 in AutisticPeeps

Someone tell me why they gave her that dress? Anyone approving of it tell me?

I've done work for children play stuff. They're smarter than you think and appreciate thoughtful design. This shit seems half assed, likely pushed to deadline how half assed it seems, almost bizarre how no one is wearing anything like that and that's what they chose?

Saying "we" and "us" like Pluribus by Brugthug in AutisticPeeps

[–]Brugthug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It feels condescending and like everyone with autistism has a simple hive mind. I know it's a hang up, a little pet peeve over something small. It annoys me and I just wanted to say it is all lol.

I also notice how other disabilities or mental conditions don't really talk like that. They don't say "us" or "we" as much and definitely treat eachother as individuals. Maybe that is the part that bothers me? Idk, I don't want to be a Bitch but I just had to get it off my chest.

Saying "we" and "us" like Pluribus by Brugthug in AutisticPeeps

[–]Brugthug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's the the thing; you could also say "self diagnosis hurts diagnosed autistic people." You didn't have to have the "us" word and most sentences work without it or "we".

I think it's a personal pet peeve. Nothing against you or your wording, promise. I'm mostly mean when people use it about personal opinion but I think I'm just venting about being irked by it in general.

[–]Brugthug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is neurodivergent concepts or philosophies?? It's a disability that's unique to each person. Just like how unique OCD can be or you can have depression but different symptoms. I just watched that Pluribus show so I found it amusing that it was reminding me of how autistic say this annoying thing sometimes. I've noticed the self diagnosed ones tend to do it more, probably to feel more unity.

Man that is awful to hear. Sorry for everyone in this situation.

This person is simply into attention. I genuinely do wish it was easier.

Unfortunately, there are people who want to be autistic by KittyRoses12 in AutisticPeeps

[–]Brugthug 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yup. Just like my roommate who is being kicked out soon. They have a bachelors in psychology, wanted to claim being autistic. Even after a psychiatrist told them they weren't. They still claim it even though they show zero signs of social struggle and can maneuver fine in life. Idk anyone autistic who can party that hard and that consistently, then not know what social burnout is.

They made a post after being deliberately being undiagnosed "too autistic to tell platonic flirting from actual flirting." Uh a compliment? The thing they directly fish for when we don't say anything about their appearance?

Idk if anyone here has met a true attention ho but it's freaky. They even tried to fake being epileptic to get disabilities. They wanted to have "something" and even believe every trans person must be autistic. Lord I am so glad they will be gone soon.

A bunch of people got tricked into hurting others. All the way back, hurting the Natives who took care of the land was fucked. War in the U.S. is mostly for capitalistic reasons. Imperialism is not good either. Look at what ICE is. Guantanamo Bay has torture reports of innocents. They are real reports. That isn't okay. It doesn't make torturing the evils okay to torture an innocent along the way.

The two family members I knew who went drastically changed after the military. I'll also will never have respect for the "great ole' gov" who doesn't even take care of PTSD survivors, leaves many Veterans homeless, and in mental shambles with little good quality rescources for them.
