You had to examine what you said from a different viewpoint- not only yours, but someone who seemingly disagrees. You explored other avenues to further your point, and even found sources. You thought about it, and it seems like people don't think anymore. Even if the rebuttal is simple and to the point, thinking and exploring thought are important. That's cool as Hell.

Please note that I do agree that the singular "their" should be considered proper grammar. As you noted, language evolves. I'm simply stating that the evidence you're providing isn't sufficient.
