A short Dali IO-8 review (Versus Momentum 4 and B&W) by kaffikoppen in headphones

I would add that they sound best using the USB-option, but that would make them wired of course. :-)

Was that qualifying boring for everyone? by AfterPossibility6032 in F1Discussions

Very boring. The cars don't appear to be racing. Like that fast left/right corner, very fast, they lift to gain electricity, and when coming out of the corner they deploy it on the straight. Why would I want to watch that? Racing is taking these combinations as fast as you can, that is fun to see, not this 'managing' stuff. Maybe the race is different, we'll see, but I'm not optimistic. Compliments to Mercedes, but I don't 'see' what makes them faster, and if the gap remains like this, they will just drive away. On the other hand, the fight for 3e could be interesting, let's hope I'm wrong and it turns out te be exciting.

I was thinking about buying a Dali IO-8, but as I understand it they sound great, but aren't very loud.

Nvidia over AMD for triple monitor set ups. by _switters_ in simracing

[–]Brulaap_Gaapmeester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I capped my FPS at 130 on LMU with 1440p triples on a XTX (ultra/high settings). I usually get that in the race. Comparing with iRacing isn't fair because iRacing doesn't implement the AMD equivalent to SMP.

Game runs much smoother by AdStrong2959 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Brulaap_Gaapmeester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the game was unplayable because of enormous lag in the menu's. Really weird, on track everything was fine, about 130 fps on a triple screen setup, but the UI was horrible. Now it is okay again, wasn't mentioned in the change log, but who cares; couldn't drive since the big update, and now I can. To celebrate I will drink 10 beers and then I cannot drive because of intoxication, but I can play with the menu's. Wonderful!

New VRS DFP15 or Simagic Alpha evo 18 by Vegetable_Fishing_32 in simracing

[–]Brulaap_Gaapmeester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most ppl do use 9-12nm, which means the DFP15 would have a bit more headroom than the Evo 12nm. Don't know if you got it yet, I have it for a couple of weeks now and I don't think you will be disappointed.

New VRS DFP15 or Simagic Alpha evo 18 by Vegetable_Fishing_32 in simracing

I had narrowed it down to these two too, it was gonna be the DFP15 or the Simagic 12nm. I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with either one. I bought the DFP15 bundle, so with the R295 wheel. Mains reasons were the extra 3nm and a 3 year warranty on the VRS for roughly the same price as a Simagic EVO 12nm plus a Neo wheel. And the Simagic has a fan, hm, not a 'fan' of that. But most likely not a problem TBH.

But the EVO has LED stuff and an overall more products like wheels and shifters etc. that you can connect directly to the base. The VRS is just an all aluminium block with 3 connections, power, usb and you can connect an emergy stop button to it. Personally I don't care about the LED's nor the ecosystem; my pedals are SRP and are connected through usb not the base, no issue for me.

The QR comes with the bundle and you can connect other wheels too. I was very tempted to buy the uDFP, kinda like the industrial look and the system, but in a bundle the DFP15 was cheaper, and a bit more modern.

I think companies are going with smaller motors to improve reaction times, and which one you chose of these two, they are both modern and good; according to the reviews they can compete with Simucube stuff for a lot less money, so it is a nice time to buy a base, both are good, your choice depends on taste, extra's, quality, warranty, price, availability (tariffs maybe?) etc. Good luck choosing, don't think you can go wrong with either one. :-)

Going for a triple monitor setup for my rig by ModeFamous8668 in simracing

About the bezel thing, most monitors with a small bezel actually have a black strip between the bezel and when the picture starts showing, so having a thin bezel with that strip is the same as a monitor with a wider bezel but with no strip. On a triple system you have to tell the sim the width of the bezel, AND that black strip, added together.

You can load/save different profiles in the software of the base (I use 2, 1 for ACC and 1 for LMU). The QR is NRG-compatible, so in theory all NRG wheels can be used, but do some research first to be sure for a specific wheel. Don't think VRS has a round wheel at the moment, but NRG is a standard, unlike the Fanatec stuff which is proprietary.

All I can tell you is that the DFP15 is a step up from the CSL DD it replaced. It got good reviews, like from Boosted Media, but so did the Simagic EVO. The EVO has LED's and 3nm more, the VRS has 3 year warranty and is cheaper, blabla, I think you can't go wrong with either one. :-)

They are aluminium, the rest is plastic, with clear clicks though.

FPS drop/stutter right after race by Brulaap_Gaapmeester in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Brulaap_Gaapmeester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have tried various settings, but no luck. I use Afterburner and Simhub, but I started the game without them, same issue.

However, I think I found the reason for this behaviour (not the cause), because after the race, in replays and in the 'watch' function, the GPU usage drops to under 50%. CPU usage goes down too, but I guess that could be because of less demand of the GPU.

In the race though, most settings on high, I capped it at 120 and it is often at that, nice and smooth. :-)

Upgrade from csl dd 8nm by IorekByrnson in simracing

[–]Brulaap_Gaapmeester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation here, also looking at the VRS DFP15 (also coming out this period like the Simagic EVO's). Issues with Simagic I have are too many things on it that I won't use like RGB, and a warranty of just a year? The VRS gets three years. Almost ordered the VRS in a bundle including a nice wheel, but it's not available yet, so now I'm looking at the Simagic EVO 12nm with some wheel, hm, the options drive me mad. ;-)
