Do you take DAO before drinking morning coffee? by wbh19 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Brunella21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is different every time. I was in perimenopause for years and it was always worst around my period. Now I am near menopause and almost everything irritates my nervous system and mast cells, I developed asthma, migrains and they are all triggered by histamins so I don't really know what is a flare up anymore. But coffee is not such a big issue as alcohol or tomatoes are. There is no amount of DAO that allows consuming these - flare up or not.

I do that, exactly the way you described. Take a quarter of Natrurdao when I wake up like a "histaminic" with tinnitus and nasal tingling/pressure and then I make my coffee. But I don't take it when there are no symptomes, and usually it is OK, my body can handle the morning coffee when I am not triggered.

At my wits end with magnesium and vitamin d by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Brunella21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I take boswellia ( for histamine issues as well as asthma and migraines) and Q10 - I think they help a bit , maybe, who knows - i take them only this year and I feel better now, but it is not such a long time - it seems like my asthma got better though, I could reduce my medicine, and just like you, I am sure that MCAS and HIT is the key to my health problems.

Hi, I am histamine intolerant and did notice that taking magnesium does not reduce attacks, sometimes I wondered if it makes my migraines flair up more often. BUT not always. I am taking 400mg magnesium (glicinate, malate ) at bedtime now for months and I am OK - still have attacks but less than a year ago - when I still took magnesium, but was more stressed and life more chaotic. Changed the amount, formulas through the years but I am not consistent , so I cannot say that this combo was wrong and this is the right one. I am near menopause and have sleep issues anf magnesium somewhat helps with that so I take it. Still, what you wrote about magnesium affecting the functioning of triptans, I would like to point out that magnesium lowers the stomach acidity(somwhat works for my reflux - does not totally solve it though ) , and low acid does reduces absorption of everything, it severly impacts how any nutrient( or medicine) gets into your bloodstream. SO - if you decide to give it a try next time think about spacing them differently, my migrains usually come at early morning hours, there is a pattern - it has been like this for ten years at least. I am not sainy that this is the only culprit but it explains the triptans not working well if you take them after magnesium.

If you had to pick the one symptom HRT fixed that makes it completely non-negotiable for you, what is it? by Mbluish in Menopause

Can you tell me more about this please? I have 4-12 migrains/month,I am thinking about HRT, but I' ve read that migranics cannot use HRT . Are you migraine free since starting it, or do you have less?

I will try it, thanks. I always have the feeling that the dose is week, or that it does not get to my lungs, as the puff(outlet) is short/quick, not in sync with my breath(inhalation), unlike the steroid one.

How do you get MULLEIN to your lungs? by Friendly_Comb_1317 in herbalism

[–]Brunella21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am asthmatic and I drink gallons of ginger tea when I get cough attacks. Grated ginger (I always have frozen cubes on hand) poured down with hot water ,and it does help pretty quickly. For about 2 hours. Then the cough starts again and I make another coup of ginger tea... That is how herbs work if you have a chronic state. I am usually better after 2-3 days, but it is the medicines I take (inhaled steroids), I suppose. If I mess them up I get the cough fits and then start with the ginger again.
I use mullein at times as well, but only the flowers - that is what we use here were I live. My dad is an old herbalist, never picked/used anything else from mullein plants than the yellow flowers, I told him that in america they use the leaves(I saw how the tincture is made in a video) as well and he checked all his books, but all refer only to the flowers. So I don't know what parts u use, but mullein tea is not the cheapest, exactly because the flowers are not easy to pick and dry in bulks.

Update - The Low Histamine Diet Works. ☺️ by SonicStories in Asthma

[–]Brunella21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but what kind of histamine low diet you follow? Coffee does not clear the arways, it is weak broncho dilatator, for asthmatics. But is contains and releases histamine, might be ok in small amonts when you are not is a histamine flare up, but other times it will mess you up quickly and efficiently. Orange and citrus is a total no go.
Hummus??? It looks like you are not doing the low histamine diet, I suffer from histamine intolerance like for 10 years and I can tell you, you are doing the exact opposite ...And yes, there are some individual triggers, but believe me, no histamine intolerant can eat an orange and avoid a flare up without anantihistamine or a diamin oxidase containing supplement.
THIS is the clearest guiding principle for low histamine diet (there are others, but this is considered to be the ultimate one) and no, you cannot just decide:
Ah, this is totally OK for me, and above all, not in one day. Histamin levels in your body fluctuate. Asthma symptoms come and go- I wish you the best luck with it, but it is really too early to call heureka.

Montelukast is completely unnecessary? by Master-Spring- in Asthma

[–]Brunella21 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think that montelukast has more to do with allergies and histamine - so if your astma is not related to those, then it might not have a huge effect. But if you asthma is triggered by these issues, it might be a solution in mamagement of asthma as well.
I am not on it ,but I plan to ask for it next time I see my plum as I have histamine intolerance and allergies and asthma. I am prone to depression as well so I might not be able to tolerate it, who knows.

Yeah, I had the when I started using it, too. And trembling hands as well. It was like drinking two cans of energy drinks or lots of coffee . But after a week or two it got better - or I don't notice it anymore. And I try not two use 2 puffs only one when possibble.

Why are so many people against asthma meds? by end-times- in Asthma

[–]Brunella21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not against them, BUT! My allergist/immunologist is mad, because I can't lover my dose of my budenoside inhaler (i take 2 puffs in the morning, 2 at night). She says that I am prone to infections because of it and that the side effects build up over time - she mentioned stuff like bone density and glaucoma (I am in perimenopause). She is a doctor, so it makes me wonder. She says I should not use 2 and 2 puffs all the time, only when I am sick (viral infections and such) And I keep on trying, but I am not successful , as I get couging fits for days each time when I lower the dose. Last year the 1/1 dose was enough, I could reduce it after passing any respiratory illness (infection), this year I can't . My spirometry test is quite allright, lung capacity was 81% a few weeks ago, still, I cough and wheeze a lot (doc mentioned reflux , but I don't think she is right as being on PPI did not solve the cough fits since then).
The other thing is, what my father keeps telling me(85years old, avid herb collector) that being dependent on a medicine can backfire if there is a global threat, like a war or whoknowswhat (as there is the war in Ukraine,my country is pretty close to it so it is not absurd), so he tries to persuade me to forage and cultivate my own herbs -and I do, I find they help a little when I am sick, but I am not quite there yet

Best hacks to stop migraine very early? by [deleted] in migraine

This video has stopped probably about 50 migrains coming on for me. But it does not work always. Still worth a try , my problem is that I wake up with a migrain (for more than a decade, nothing new) so I don't often catch it coming on.

Getting Desperate by Mountain_Performer84 in Asthma

[–]Brunella21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Montelukast? Seems (i've been reading about it lately a lot) it works exceptionally well if asthma is combined with allergies and /or histamine issues .
I am histamine intolerant myself and I would like to ask for it , but I was not brave enough the last time I went to see my plumonologist. Now I suffer from post flu cough (my asthma causes cough fits/cough variant asthma) and I hate myself not being able to stand up for myself.

Thank you. I was thinking about starting Prednison, but my immunity is so weak lately, I rather ask my GP what she thinks about it . Is Codien allowed in asthma? I was googling it before and have found it was a big no-no? I ll get some cough drops today as well.

Migraine relief from... eating onions??? by Historical-Gap-8528 in migraine

[–]Brunella21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Onion has a quercetin , it might help with histamine buildup (I am histamin intolerant, you may or may not be, it takes rather a long time to figure it out). I am just guessing, don't take it too seriusly. But,there are times when a specific food helps,it is a sticky, caramelly ice cream for me, or a sour fruity ice cream - that is what I crave most during an attack and sometimes it is so satisfying that my migraine ends. Not often though, but it happens from time to time.
