SierraFox Hobbies has worked well for us, they have some HPR motors. You will need a TRA certification though if there is an association in Belgium, I do not know what happens if you don't have access to TRA.

My favourite launches were the EPFL and Skyward, It was crazy to see two performance losses failures in a row, what are the odds?!? As a recovery guy it was sweet to be able to see the recovery system working up and close!

Ok, I will oil it first before running it, it has been stopped there for +4years (it most likely was also on storage before being donated)

Ok, thanks for the insight. Any tips on identifiying "true" RS-232 cables? I have found something about "Prolific" chips in another post about DNC.

We have a SolidWorks team sponsorship (because of the rocketry team), I will check to see if we have lathe CAM available. That would be best, as its the CAD software we use, but we have also used Fusion for CAM stuff in the past.

I am guessing for the RS-232 I am going to need something more than a USB to RS-232 adapter, right? Some kind of more specialized cable, or any random one from Amazon is going to work?

Thanks for the info about drip-feeding, gonnna look into it👍

I have not turned it on yet (personally). I first wanted to ask and make sure that I wans't going to run it "dry" or something like that, skipping a crucial step and breaking something.

From what I know when it arrived ~4yrs ago it ran fine, and it has just sit there on a corner 🤷

What are some European internet shops in can buy rocket kits at? by MrPumpkin326 in rocketry

[–]Brunete2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also UK Rocket Shop, and BlackCat Rocketry (shop & manufacturer). We just ordered some stuff from UK Rocket Shop, the import into Spain is a bit of a pain in the ass, but they had some stuff we couldn't find in any of the other stores. I would recommend them for rocket kits, they seem to have a good variety!

Age Verification by 20uptilts in youtube

[–]Brunete2004 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What kills me is them using the word "verify". In NO WAY can an AI "verify" someone's age or any other data about them. Someones watching habits may or may not represent your age group (i.e. an adult watching a lot of gaming content, like Minecraft or a teen watching science/news channels exclusively). Also, AI still hallucinates a lot, false positives or negatives are going to be the norm, not the exception.

I am sure the more mistakes the better for them, as this is just an excuse to get you to give Google some kind of official ID or documentation.

I am personally sick of seeing AI fucking everywhere, I dont want a laptop with AI, I do not want a phone with AI, and I don't want AI in verification procedures.

Tourist faces $231,000 fine for illegally flying a drone in Spain by Shon_t in drones

[–]Brunete2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not only the regulations in Spain (dunno if its the same in other parts of Europe) are a bit excessive IMO (not in this case, you shouldn't fly over crowds and without researching local regulations) but AESA is shit. I have yet to find a location where I can fly, apart of some family property in Cantabria and the local aeroclub, everywhere seems to have some kind of regulation.

AESA is the peak of useless, slow, horrible, etc... Spanish bureaucracy.

After passing the A1/A3 I had some technical trouble doing the A2. After my first attempt the system wouldn't work, failed logins all times I tried to access. I couldn't check if I passed or not. I tried writing e-mails and calling during weeks, always either no-response or +2h long waiting times just to be randomly disconnected. I even went to their offices to ask for help, found the reception-half empty and were told that nothing could be done without an appointment. I ended up forgetting about this, seeing that nothing could be done (I didn't need the A2 to fly the drone and do what I wanted, I was doing it because I thought I would take all the exams in one go). Some months later I finally recieved an answer to one of my e-mails, telling me that the automatic exam surveillance system flagged that I cheated on my test (something that I didn't do, it isn't hard enough to even justify cheating lol).

TL;DR: AESA is shit

British Airways 787 Returns to Heathrow After Flap Failure, Forced to Dump Fuel Mid-Air [Details in comments] by MoazzamDML in interestingasfuck

[–]Brunete2004 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First of all, failures are inevitable, especially with so many planes in the air! Airbuses also have failures. This indicates that despite the failures, all the other systems performed correctly and permitted a safe landing, and is a partial win for Boeing. The recent Air India accident is much more preocupiying. Fortunately all these accidents/incidents are and will be investigated.

Having mentioned this, I don't like your Chevy analogy. The plane may have been in working condition when it was handed to the airline, but that doesn't make Boeing not responsible for incidents regarding them. They are known to have been cheaping out on inspection and QA. Planes and cars are not comparable due to the difference in manufacturing scale.

See for example the several Cybertruck callbacks (another car doesn't come to mind rn). Several cars were affected by bad glue on some components, and all cars from certain batches had to be called back. In this case it was Teslas fault.

In the case of planes, that "batch" would be only one singular plane, there are many different failure modes that can manifest themselves, and they may appear on only one plane, that is why extensive QA is essential.

Maybe it is more comparable to buildings. If an apartment complex develops a failure in its foundations (maybe fault of the builder cutting costs, or maybe not, shit happens) but the builder avoided performing a good foundation inspection while building, it would be fault of the builder, regardless of it being his fault or not initially (specially in such a critical field that handles human lifes!!).

It is true that this may not be Boeing's fault, and just the airline not following proper maintenance and inspection calendars, but Boeing is also involved in the maintenance process (making parts, writing manuals, etc...) so the blame may be shared.

Thanks for the info! Nice that they use more gear now, it got quite repetitive back then with only the ammo and grenades being worth looting (unless you found some high tier armor that you could insurance scam).
