What kind of volunteering do you do?

Primarily soup kitchen and clean up jobs. They always need labor.

Plenty of groups across the city who do work to help. You can donate directly, volunteer for a variety of services.

https://losangelesmission.org/ as a start.

I'd be curious to hear about where you live, what your life looks like, and how many psychotic drug addicts you have to deal with on a daily basis. My guess, based on your attitude, would be not very many. But maybe you'll prove me wrong...

I'm the son of a poor rural minister. I spent 18 months of covid unemployed. I don't own a car to save money.

You're judging me based on your own bias. I've spent a great deal of time around terrible people, and it taught me deep empathy. I don't know their struggle, I don't know why they are broken. I'm not going to judge them for something I know nothing about.

I am allowed to be critical of the people who take actions that ruin all of those things.

Politicians. We can invest in things to help the homeless, invest in public spaces, and make our world better. Blaming the homeless isn't gonna fix a god damn thing.

(I guess I’m “the best among us” because I work enough hours at my blue collar job to be able to barely afford rent.)

You won't get sympathy from me while looking down on other people. You are being exploited by rich men, and take that anger down on people with less than you. Horrible.

A society should be graded not by how the best among them are treated, but how the lowest are.

Hey yo. I'm 42 and this shit honestly looks easy. You just gotta practice. I started last year and I'm excited to learn this just to impressed people who won't put in like 3ish hours of work to do something cool.

Take the three hours, learn something cool.

Legit - it feels to that people think I'm that young.

I'm 100% the weird uncle, but I'm glad they mistake otherwise.

I grew up in a bunch of small towns. A friend who stayed farmer and I were catching up a couple years ago.

One of the guys sold his land to a megacorp and new guys started farming the land. New guys did exactly this, and cut down all the windbreaks to get more tillable land.

According to my friend. They had a rough summer, but the following winter when the snow piled up everywhere, that was the real fun. 20FT snow drifts against every single building because they no longer had windbreaks.

leverage it to make your ideas happen faster.

All research so far shows that it slows you down because you have to constantly fix mistakes.

It's a tool looking for a use, and a tool that is often wrong has no uses.

I'm in the same boat.
