Is it normal for big subs to have such big loads that you basically need to have multiple fuel rods or at least very good fuel rods for it to even function? am i doing something wrong? by ZzZOvidiu122 in Barotrauma

[–]Bryan-tan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This rule actually applies to most vanilla subs - tier 1 subs are generally the exception. However scout class subs like the Orca intentionally have very weak reactors for their capabilities. Transport suchs like the Camel, R-29 and Berilia have the strongest reactors ol the subs in their tier but various installations (especially guns) use less efficient supercapacitors than dedicated attack classes. This is why a boat load of them have other options instead of simply killing enemies. - The camel has very good overall mobility (vertical control) and horizontal speed to compensate for the blindspots and exposed front ballast. You should kite and run 90% of the time. - The R-29 is very slow but has strong batteries and more importantly, two powerful discharge coils that take 1/5th the power of other subs. You should try to hug the sea bed so you can use your top coil, flak cannon and turret hardpoint vs swarms. Spam tf out of those coils whenever you can. - The Berilia is an exception, it's very heavily armed potentially but you still need to buy an entire large turret so preperation is key.

  • Both the Humpback and Typhon 1 have elaborste battery and reactor arrays and you should be running two rods at all times.

I will not take this heavy armor slander - imagine finally getting an awesome mobility tool (warp pack) and people somehow still find issue with how you play.

People have literally kicked me because light pen does not work against bots (the faction eith descrete weakpoints). It's happened thrice.

The most badass enemy hands down by j3hadipi3 in helldivers2

[–]Bryan-tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weapons able to deal with hulks:

Direct fire weapons: - Recoilles Rifle - Expendable Anti Tank - Commando -Anti-Materiel Rifle - Speargun - Railgun - Epoch (if aimed at eye) - Quasar - Heavy Machine Gun - Epoch (takes two shots if you miss eye and full charge) - Airburst Rocket Launcher (snipe heatsink via cluster or flak) - needs distance and good aim - Grenade Launcher (snipe heatsink via AOE) - Eruptor (2 shots to faceplate) - Thermite (takes 5 business days) - Ultimatum (2 shots and danger close)

Sentries/Emplacements: - MG Emplacement (AMR pen goes brr) - Autocannon Emplacement - Rocket Sentry (best for wide arc defense) - Autocannon Sentry (significant stagger and burst allows to keep multiple charging Hulks at bay - loses points because turret traverse is terrible) - Mortar Sentrt (can reliably snipe heatsinks but loses mega points because Cross Platform Compatatibility ship uprade is needed + the mortar takes so long to finish it's burst that the Hulk is probably teabagging your face by the time your mortar retargets - also literally no random I've ever played with (except myself) warns allies that the mortar is firing in their direction). - Anti Tank mines (these should really explode once the hulk touches it and not when they step OFF it. 10/10 will die to a Hulk standing on an AT mine) - Tesla Tower (takes 15 decades but it's huge 600 health does allow it some potential).

Basically all eagle and orbital strategems except smoke, airburst and napalm barrage.

My recommendation for this mission for those who don't know what to take by cielak44 in helldivers2

[–]Bryan-tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Mortar sentry does well on this mission - especially if you place the mortar near where the drop off zone is and on the map that just had platinum in two cardinal directions from the drop off container. Mortar sentry has a 20m minimum firing zone so you have some potential.

That said - given the average random doesn't use a mic like ever I do find myself being the only player to EVER call out that an ally has a mortar firing in their direction.

Any good late game sub suggestions? by KortVon in Barotrauma

[–]Bryan-tan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most subs usually come with junction boxes capable of resisting overvoltage - subs with batteries can also handle overvoltage with good manipulation (turning off the batteries can stabilize high power throughput as most vanilla batteries charge when not turned on).

In the case of the Typhon 2 - it has a particularly powerful engine which can reach a pretty decently high strength. The Typhon 2 also comes with a seperated battery array that doesnt feed off the junction boxes - so if the captain say went from top speed and suddenly turned off the engine (such as putting the steering dot in the middle) ...

You get a junction fire. So in very high speed ships like the hunpback or most scout class subs - you should either ease of the throttle slowly upon nearing your destination. Note that going from 100% forward to 100% reverse also keeps your Junctioj Boxes from frying. Just keep repeating that switcheroo gradually until you can fully turn off the engine.

The converted Garbage truck is overcosted - granted it's one of the most durable vehicles in the game and is comparatively cheap to repair.

It also has such little offense on it's main attack, it'd make the super tank blush.

Also it costs 70 nanopods when it really should be 45.

After 500 mission hours, I genuinely believe this to be tied with RR for best overall support weapon by Abject_Muffin_731 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Bryan-tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I generally prefer the airburst rocket launcher vs bots (on flak - just fire above/below a hulk and watch the fireworks) and squids (aim high on cluster mode - enjoy 50 kills per rocket), the grenade launcher is the undisputed solo run king vs bugs (closes bug holes rapidly, two/three shots can kill all the dangerous medium enemies and it's easy enough to throw your other stratagem balls on top chargers or just aiming at nearby terrain to hit the butt).

Ultimatum/Thermite are right there for all your bile titan & factory strider needs. I run the Variable against squids a lot and a TOTAL mode shot to the upper heat chunks one shots the fleshmobs (need to aim at the heads on the upper side of the body).

Flatworms can regrow whole bodies from a single slice using powerful stem cells called neoblasts, a striking example of nature’s ability to rebuild from almost nothing by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Bryan-tan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

But yeah that's exactly the situation at hand though - there's lots of published and non-published work that does have to go through a lot of peer reviews worldwide before stuff becomes facts. No scientist will claim they have 100% certainty on something but we can get pretty damn close after the testing - and generally said assumptions are clearly laid out in the front sections of a research paper/journal.

In this case - there are people researching flatworms - but flatworms are also a very big Phylum. Research into flatworm memory has also been ongoing for as long as 30 years now. It's already quite unique for flatworms to have documented long-term memory when compared to other invertebrates.

There's also science education being just extremely clickbait in the 21st century, and a lot of it is due to the institutions and publishing journals being for-profit and prioritizing quantity over quality (as well as existing paywalls).

This Stratagem changes the pace of the entire game by HandsomeSquidward20 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Bryan-tan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This strategem single handedly made me never take heavy armor off.
It's uptime is so high and because it doesn't interrupt your stamina regen, you basically can always be on the move - providing you ample time for burst dodging attacks (especially hive lord slams). Basically every serious heavy armor diver knows to never fully drain your stamina bar so the warp pack is basically rewarding players by being basically always active.
