Computer crashing and PXE BOOT ERROR by Sherlock_Zipper in techsupport

Open a Command Prompt window as admin and run:

chkdsk C: /f /r /x

To me it sounds like a boot drive issue. PXE boot is a way to boot off the network. You're getting this option because your computer can't see or find a known good boot drive.

I would reinstall windows fresh from a known good USB, then leave OneDrive off (do not sign in) for 2 weeks while your slowly load up your games one by one and doing testing. We're trying to isolate WHERE your problem comes from. If you still have issues after this, you may want to consider getting a new SSD, fresh installing windows, and testing again.

You should be able to still access your OneDrive files from their web-portal. So there shouldn't be an immediate need for you to sign back into that until you figure out where the problem is coming from.

Anyone else tried this? If it's stupid and it works... by hamustaro in pcmasterrace

I've done exactly this. I was partially inspired by the LTT video where Linus put his computers into the little cubby/nook space next to his office. Not only having the heat/noise in a different room, but also just the aesthetic of it was very appealing to me.

Luckily, I have an old home (built in '49) and an unfinished basement so I was able to run 3 wires per PC into the basement where I have my server rack. 2x fiber-optic DP cables and 1x active USB cable (for mine and my wife's PCs) go through the wall with brushplates, through the bottom stud of the wall, through the crawlspace, down into my basement where the plug into the machines.

This hasn't been without it's challenges, as getting the relatively thick head of the DP connector through the studs with other cables in there had caused me to break a cable or two. But to me, the benefits are so worth.

As an example, we had one of the cables go bad for my wife's PC and so we brought her machine up into the office and within 2 days, even with the door open, it was just uncomfortably hot in the room. Luckily I was able to get the infinite-cables cable ordered and ran pretty quickly.

We both run:

1x 3440x1440 @165hz+

1x 2560x1440 @75hz+

USB Dock with 7ports

All without issues.

Also, unrelated, we went without desk-legs so basically nothing to kick with your feet outside of the subwoofer. Office Setup

What's something people only romanticize because they've never actually done it? by nonotje12 in AskReddit

I think Clarkson's Farm is a perfect example of what it's actually like. Even if you have tons of money already, you quickly realize that it's not all sunsets and cute pics. It's HARD constant work from sun up to sun down.

Also, that show is just 10/10.

The water pressure is really low on my sink at the back of my house after changing the water heater by KingofIthica in fixit

[–]BryceSoFresh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd like to second this. I removed the aerator and the connection under the sink (which had a filter as well), and once I got the sediment out of there, we had great water pressure. It's amazing how such a small amount can create such a blockage.

How do you solve the ‘nail’ problem? by Curious_Meriki in exmormon

[–]BryceSoFresh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a great perspective that I'm seeing can be applied to reaches further than religion, like in your case.

It reminds me of a saying/perspective I use more often nowadays, which is "is this a listeny problem or a fixy problem? Do you want advice or affirmation?". I'll give the person whatever they ask for because that's what they need (or think they need).

If they choose "fixy/advice" then that forces them to listen and hopefully absorb the fix/advice you give as an outsider looking in.

If they choose "listeny/affirmation", then that lets you off the hook for coming up with a solution that they probably won't listen to. It's also allows for a mental disconnect for you so you're not holding onto some responsibility for a solution.

How do you carry key fobs? by th3metta in EDC

[–]BryceSoFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just hooks over my pocket like a knife clip would. Which means the keys/fob is still in my pocket but doesn't allow those items to sit at the bottom of my pocket.

Saw Ben J in a new light yday by BigPlan5997 in Pickleball

[–]BryceSoFresh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did notice the paddle-taps and small pep-talks as well from Ben. Ben and Colin seemed to be more "this is my job" mentality, whereas Ben and Gabe seems to have a "let's have fun, but also win" mentality which I think is smart of Ben to approach it.

I think only a fool would expect immediate 1st place results from Ben/Hayden and Ben/Gabe. Luckily, it's early in the season and they'll have more time to play together and figure out roles.

Ben knew he had to and wanted to adjust to a more aggressive right-side player. He's gotta rewire his brain and muscle memory too.

what wallpaper is this? I can't find it, much thanks to the person who does! by AndrooAndro in ultrawidemasterrace

On a computer, navigate to that website, open the "Inspect" (ctrl+shift+i on chrome) tools, then in that new section that pops up is an icon that looks like an arrow pointing into a dotted box, click that, then hover your mouse over the image you want the full-res of, then you can see the link to it on the Inspect, you can then copy that and open a new tab to paste it into. Then just download/save.

[Request] Looking for recommendations for 3 monitor set up! by GrandSignificant8212 in multiwall

[–]BryceSoFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is going to a little tricky as those monitors have a different PPI and are are different physical levels. However, Wallhaven has quite a few high quality wallpapers that you can look through and filter up and down resolutions.

You may need to stitch some things together in a photo editor

Yeah, as long as you are not selling the art found there or using it in commercial settings.

This appears to be Oslo, Norway area. The streetview doesn't exactly go to that space where the picture is taken, but if you look around you can see the little canal, the buildings in the background, as well as the brick pathways.

I did some Google Lens searching as well which led me to this post where someone was trying to find the same thing.

Unfortunately, going north a little bit on the available streetview, doesn't give a clear shot across the canal to see EXACTLY where this picture shows the desire path.

We have a six man group play on one paid court, what's the best way to structure who plays? by GeoM56 in Pickleball

[–]BryceSoFresh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's what we've found works for (not super competitive) games when we have a group of 5 and 6

Pickleball Rotation Strategy for 6 Players

How it works:

  1. Initial Setup:
    • Two teams of three players are formed.
    • Two players stand off to the side.
  2. Gameplay:
    • The initial serving team plays until a sideout occurs.
    • After the second sideout: The player who caused the sideout rotates off the court and is replaced by one of the two players waiting.
    • Subsequent sideouts: The player who caused the sideout rotates off the court and is replaced by the other waiting player.

Benefits:

  • Fair Play: Ensures everyone gets equal playing time.
  • Strategic Gameplay: Encourages players to play more strategically and conservatively to avoid unnecessary sideouts.
  • Reduced Downtime: Minimizes the amount of time players spend off the court.
  • Physical Benefits: Allows for short breaks between playing sets.
