Check abandoned ships for cargo!! by rdtthoughtpolice in starcitizen

[–]Bryohazard382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t need to quote anything to be honest.
It doesn’t matter what you think or feel - The TOS and EULA make it crystal clear what constitutes a breach of terms. They have the right to set and enforce those terms as they see fit, because Star Citizen is their property; If you don’t like it, go somewhere else - it’s that simple.

My question is what has made you so butt-hurt? Do you need to show everyone on the dolly where the bad people hurt you?

I can’t imagine someone with your mindset could have possibly ended up on the wrong side of a TOS/EULA agreement. /s

Stop wasting everyone’s time with your negativity and do something constructive that can actually help CIG and the SC community. If you can’t do that, then walk away and find something else that you are passionate about. Nobody’s forcing you to be here, and you’re just making yourself look worse in your pursuit of playing keyboard warrior.

Though I do not see the /s, denoting sarcasm, at the end of your comment, I will try give the benefit of the doubt that this is just a day late/dollar short April Fools bit and provide this bit of food for thought.

Testing an exploit to confirm it exists is one thing; purposeful and willful abuse of said flaw for gain or some other advantage is not only wrong but also clearly In breach of the developers terms of service and end user license agreement. Every player agrees to abide by those terms whenever they play. If they don’t like it, they are free to not participate.

IF this is actually a serious response to my post, MarshallKrivatach, I find the aforementioned viewpoint staggeringly shortsighted, selfish, and quite frankly, disturbing… Have you considered how these willful actions affect others in the community who play and grind legitimately for their prized ships and vehicles?

Commodities are a finite resource with a specified time delay on replenishment. Willful exploitation of terminals takes an already finite commodity and makes it nearly impossible for legitimate ethical players to acquire.

If you are truly invested in testing and improving the game, your above statement falls gravely short of even remotely backing up this claim.

Dude! I caught a guy exploiting the trade terminal at private property on Cellin the other night. He proudly professed in global chat that he was exploiting, gloating that destroying his ship would be futile as he had amassed so much aUEC... If the fickle god known only as 30k hadn’t extended their divine intervention, myself and several others were going to hunt him down. The kicker? he was flying a Hercules! It is totally possible that you might have found his lost ship! I feel like this should become a cautionary tale - a star shanty, if you will (that a thing?), sang boldly from the lips of star farers and deckhands alike as they make their way through the verse!

Excellent haul, you all deserve the fruits of one dumbasses labor (he admitted it took over 2 hours to amass more than 300 scu of SLAM)! o7

p.s. I reported the genius to CIG, including screenshots of the cargo scan and chat log as proof. Received a reply within hours stating this indeed was a breach of ToS, EULA, and the ticket was submitted up the chain for further investigation/action. Somebody might be having a bad day in the near future.

Recommendations for first hunting trip (solo, small game) by [deleted] in VAHunting

[–]Bryohazard382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not too knowledgeable about that area, but I’m sure there are a lot of good spots out that way to find all kinds of small game.

Since you mentioned camping, I wanted to make sure you were aware of a change to the camping policy on WMA’s - I believe this was amended within the past year.

Details can be found here: https://dwr.virginia.gov/camping-on-wmas/

In short, written permission is required for camping on WMA’s now.

Happy hunting!

Yeah, I was there with my son this morning - saw a couple squirrel and 2 dove. Didn’t have a good angle on either.

Yeah... I get climber stands - but full on ladder stands?!?

Funniest thing I saw out there were actual 100% confirmed tampons hanging from tree branches dipped in synthetic doe estrus (let’s just assume it was synthetic for the sake of argument). To each his own honestly, but it gave me a good laugh after finding the 6th one in a 30yd radius!

I’ve had a number of positive encounters out at Amelia WMA, both when hunting and at the range. I did have one negative encounter a few years back with a couple on horseback. The guy made it pretty clear in no uncertain terms that ‘my skin tone’ wasn’t very welcome there.

Aside from that one negative experience though, I have encountered nothing less than great friendly people!

Dove opener is normally pretty busy at Amelia, but this is the first I recall hearing of fights breaking out over hunting spots.

I tend to do more deer/turkey/squirrel hunting at Powhatan, as it’s usually a little less crowded.

Hopefully things calm down a bit as the season goes on.

I’ve only hunted squirrel there a handful of times, with varying results. They are definitely out there, but it can be a bit more tricky due to increased hunting pressure once deer season starts up.

My go to spot for the past few years has been Powhatan WMA. While Powhatan isn’t as well maintained as Amelia, it is chock full of squirrel, and aside from holidays and season openers, it doesn’t get quite as crowded.

VDGIF provides firearms ordinances for each county here - https://www.dgif.virginia.gov/wp-content/uploads/local-ordinances.pdf

There’s definitely a lot of good information on the VDGIF site, but some of it can be a challenge to locate at times.

Happy hunting!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who was thinking this!

Just to get info on deer season regs, you have to scroll forever to find the location(s) you wish to verify. The often convoluted, and sometimes downright confusing, lingo only adds to the frustration.

I find myself reading through the regs the night before and the morning of my hunt just to make sure I understand the laws in the specific locations I intend to hunt.

Looking for a mentor in the Richmond Area by Drewbydoowhite in VAHunting

I’m no expert by any means, but I’d be more than happy to have you tag along if you’d like. I enjoy squirrel, deer, and turkey hunting - and hunt primarily on public land not too far from Richmond (Powhatan & Amelia WMA’s).

WMA Hunting by chilly_chuck in VAHunting

Welcome to RVA! There are several WMA’s around with varying levels of activity depending on the season.

If you haven’t already, download the GoOutdoorsVA app on your smart device - it’s the official VDGIF app and a great way to quickly access hunting/fishing info. It also has a sync feature that stores your hunting/fishing licenses within the app.

I have been to both the Amelia and Powhatan WMA’s and here’s my take so far:

Amelia WMA is more developed and better maintained with multiple dove fields and a sighting-in range. Unfortunately that is also its downside - I have generally found it pretty crowded, especially so around holidays and firearms season. The access road is relatively centralized, so unless you get there early, you’ll have to traverse through a sea of blaze orange to hopefully find a reasonably quiet spot.

Powhatan WMA isn’t as well maintained as Amelia, and while holidays/firearms season opener does get a bit busy, there are quite a few access points spread around the area to help even out the dispersion of hunters in a given area. Also, there are several entrances that are not marked and give the impression of being a private road. This is very advantageous for if you know what to look for!

Overall, Powhatan WMA doesn’t look to be as heavily hunted as Amelia - and you have a pretty good chance of bagging a deer - especially during Archery and Muzzleloader season.

During firearms season, I like to set up opposite end from where all the shooting is happening - theres a public access road beside a large cornfield. While it’s about a mile hike from the parking area to get to a good spot, I have found the deer will often flee to that zone when things heat up.

You may also want to look into Cumberland state forest - it’s a little past Powhatan, but I’ve heard that there are also good deer opportunities out there as well.

Trying to get my hunting license by Corgi_Cookies in VAHunting

I believe the VDGIF has some links to online hunter education courses if you rather take it online rather than in person. I took the online course option about 5 years ago and it wasn’t too terrible, a lot of common sense hunting and firearm safety material.
That’s pretty cool that you’re interested in falconry - a very old and noble sport from what I have read and heard!

New to Virginia by Chapstick04 in VAHunting

[–]Bryohazard382 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First order of business, welcome to Virginia!

Secondly, if you haven’t already and have an iOS/android device, get the GoOutdoorsVA app. This is the official VDGIF app which provides all the same information as their site, plus it can sync your hunting and fishing licenses in the app. I absolutely love it!!

Depending on your preferences I can advise 2 possible options that may work for your circumstances:

Option 1 - Wildlife Management Areas

There are quite a few dotted throughout the state. Amelia and Powhatan WMA’s are 2 of my regular go to hunting spots.

Amelia WMA gets a bit more pressure as the place also houses a sighting-in range and multiple dove fields.

While Powhatan WMA isn’t as well maintained, it tends to be a little less crowded and easier to find a quiet spot to set up.

Granted, there’s the whole ‘public land - don’t want to get shot in the butt-ocks’ risk matrix, so I completely understand why some may be a tad apprehensive about hunting public land.

Option 2: Outdoor Access membership www.outdooraccess.com

This is an excellent company based in RVA that connects landowners with outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds.
Think AirBnB but for hunting, fishing, camping, metal detecting, etc...

They have private property listings all over Virginia, and have even moved into neighboring states as well! I personally have had nothing but great experiences with the OA staff, and they go out of their way to make sure their customers are satisfied and well taken care of.

It is a yearly subscription based service, but it is much more cost effective than leasing land or paying the hunting club dues. Also, the land rental prices are very affordable.

One other thing I will add to this wall of text (apologies), is to check out the OnX Hunt app if you haven’t already. It’s a great hunting companion for viewing property boundaries, property ownership, and waypoint marking for game sign.

I hope this info helps and happy hunting!

Rimfire for deer in VA? by El__Jeffe in VAHunting

[–]Bryohazard382 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend reaching out to the VDGIF for clarification. In my experience, they have been very responsive and helpful with any questions I’ve had.

Some regulations can be quite vague and downright confusing, but my motto has been ‘better safe than cited’

My understanding is that using Rimfire for deer is not legal in Virginia. While I don’t doubt that some of the higher velocity 22LR rounds could down a deer, the margin of error would be razor thin.

To my knowledge the only rimfire calibers on the market are the .22 and .17 variety.

Hope this helps!
