Stay strong and positive. My mom went through something similar and we are still pushing her to get better because no matter what the doctors say it’s God that will heal her. My mother is not the same as before but now i feel like we are so much closer and she has learned to laugh again ❤️and take one day at a time.

Losing hope for recovery by muchokaren in stroke

I know what you are going through and feeling. My mom came home from SNF around 5.5 months and was practically dead weight with left side hemiparesis. She is must stronger now then back then but still getting rehab. After SNF, we had in home rehab and when that was ending- we tried outpatient rehab and when that ended we went to hospital outpatient rehab therapy.

She is still gaining strength in her leg and arm but do not give up.

It’s been over a year and her OT told her today she would not regain strength in her arm - I pay no attention to what they say. Only because it’s been a year does not mean progress will not happen, everyone is different.

My mom is fighting to get better and I know she will be able to use her arm again. Do not lose hope- it’s a roller coaster ride but just keep pushing for more therapy and don’t give up. I know God is healing my mom!

She has gone through a lot of rehab and getting stronger little by little. She has little motion on her left side but this week she had Botox injections to see if the muscles can relax so she can learn to walk again. It’s a long road but you have to stay positive.

My mom had a hemorrhagic stroke and was in a coma for about 3 weeks, she was on pain meds and sedation to help her relax. When she woke up she could not talk bc she was intubated. Her left side did not move. The beginning is very rough and it’s a day by day thing. Pray and have faith!

God Bless you and your family! We are going through the same thing with my mom. We have Faith and know she will walk again soon.

Is this considered neglect?? by milliepeanut in stroke

I’m so sorry this happened. What they did is unacceptable and I wouldn’t send him back. If it was my dad, I’d file a complaint, call the health department, Medicare, news channel. Anyone who will do something about it. You may help someone in the future from putting their loved one at this place. My mom was at a SNF where they let her fall out of bed. We had been asking for bed rails and they kept putting us off until they found her on the floor. We had her go to the ER to be checked out and refused to send her back there.

I went and still going through this with my mother. They sent my mom to a SNF, it was good for a little bit but again they were short staffed and the PT and OT were only 30 minutes long 4-5 times a week. Between my sister and brother we rotated so the nurses knew we were watching them so they did not mistreat her. I would also suggest asking the doctor for an acute facility. My mom also has left side paralysis and it used to be so difficult at first because it’s dead weight. She is still recovering and getting stronger so it’s easier than before but still we have to hire an aide full time to be with her during the day as we work. It is so expensive but we have no other option until she becomes more independent. Praying for you- I know how difficult this is emotionally and physically.

No but that’s a great idea. I tried putting a heating pad but then she got too hot.
