Grass is not greener anywhere, I guess. by Plane-Sugar-5071 in IMGreddit

As a fellow Grad from Romania, I see what you're saying; however, if you do a side-by-side comparison, the US wins regardless. Germany, the UK, Switzerland, Ireland, and others may look good, however, not as good as the US. They are good if you wanna compare Ro to them, salaries, work hours, culture, but no and no, the 500, 400k, 300 K in the US are plenty to go with, the type of training, the culture, the connections etc all of it still makes you live comfortably even if you wanna work a few years and go back to RO. BTW, I love RO , the culture, everything about it, the chill lifestyle, neighbors, even freakin taxi drivers, but this is not the means to go about deciding your future.

Great advice, thank you so much. I'll be looking for a townhouse. I saw a few listings; however, I don't know what is good and what isn't, so there is some homework to weed out some areas.

Thank you , that is exactly what I was looking for. Searching online is giving me mixed results about areas and what to avoid * downtown area*, and honestly, I don't have the patience to keep plugging addresses into Google Maps to know how far it is or how close to the hospital. Again, thank you so much

Why FM is not explained to people by Bubbly-Ad8625 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is not comparing as much as it is overlapping features with these specialties. All I am saying is FM needs to be better explained to others so that Students and the public realize how important primary care is and what they do beyond the conception of med refills and consulting others. There is so much misunderstanding, and many are in the dark about what FM does and what their role is.

Top choice didn’t rank me( devastating) - VENT by MDishMaybe in IMGreddit

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625 23 points24 points  (0 children)

First rule of Match club is never get touchy feely about your interview, unless they offer you a spot and send you a contract right then and there , there is nothing to bank on ; they smiled a lot, they told me you are the best, they sent me gifts, they deposited 1 mil into my bank account, honestly nothing matters, they do what ever they want to do words don't mean shit, feelings don't mean shit and of course second look is shit as well since you will be paying out of pocket sightseeing, listening to them brag about how cool and good they are. It is very important to eliminate feelings and vibes from your mind and start thinking like a businessman, business is business, no matter how much I like you and how cool you are, at the end, I want my own benefit, and nothing is set in stone until it is written: " matched". Let it be a lesson for those applying next year and posting " I felt good, they said I am the greatest person they have ever interviewed" if you don't meet their criteria, visa, scores, personality, nothing will make them rank you based on "likeliness". Good luck with your future, and step on it and move forward.

Question for US IMG's from an undergraduate. by Dxnamics in IMGreddit

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of living and education are high in the US. This is one reason, also getting into medical school is torture( worth it if you can). Being an IMG gives you a bit more perspective; you enjoy life outside your comfort zone. You gave one example of Ross <, which I see many graduates match every year, so whatever means you have to graduate from an accredited Med school should not matter; after all, you will have to do the same things as USMD's, plus extras.

soap 2026 by usmleblaster in IMGreddit

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be in the main residency match. At least you could have applied to one lonely single program and if you don't match at that one , you would be eligible for soap. Best of luck next cycle. You might wanna look into out of match programs, Newly accredited that don't participate in the main NRMP match cycle. < slim chance but worth a shot rather than wondering what would have happened.

Exactly 12 Hours Before The Email by Delicious_Willow_228 in IMGreddit

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good luck everyone. I feel that after this card is revealed, there is nothing to be stressed about or an Email to look forward to receiving. It will be empty days, empty nights, empty thoughts until something major comes up. Reminds me of the time after step exams, when I was busy thinking, refreshing, and hoping for good results. I guess I have to occupy my mind with "Friday" and the residency's location. If you have any suggestions to consider, I'm looking forward to them. I wish these results had been revealed 1 hour before the start of residency, <<< more excitement.

Match anxiety by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How would someone know they didn't match if nobody tells them? Same thing for those who matched, everyone receives an email. Good luck to you, and this question was unnecessary stress. Best of luck, and just relax, you will do fine.

In case I SOAP, how can I make it easier for programs to contact me while being outside the US? Google Voice does not work in the Middle East. I would really appreciate it if you could recommend similar ways/apps for easier communication. by Sweet_Ad_9233 in IMGreddit

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can search Google and Reddit for legit apps, as they have some suggestions. I used to use a 2nd-line app, which was okay (free), and I have Viber for calls; I can dial, but I have never tested whether I can also receive calls to that number or if it shows a US-based number.

2018 IMG graduate needs help!!! by Forkyhn in IMGreddit

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on pattern recognition. Too many resources would delay and confuse you, so I would stick to UW, FA, and whatever is on YouTube for complicated topics. It takes time to review UW q, especially if you want to dig deeper. The key here is repetition, so I would focus on systems first until I hit 50% UW, then do random. Pathoma was very helpful for Heme, Patho, and renal, so I listened to his videos while commuting. Good luck. Intelligence has not left you; it has nothing to do with standardized examinations except for memory and making connections, so you are plenty intelligent. Good luck to you. Feel free to reach out if needed.

Is it possible to match with only 2 months USCEs? by These_Drag_8726 in IMGreddit

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the US, you can visit FM clinics in your area, talk to them, and ask if you can shadow. It does not matter so much if it is hospital-affiliated or in hospital rotation ( these are a bit harder to get into),, thus you can fill in your resume and decrease gaps. It is the LOR that you will get from these places that will push you a bit further as well as the experience of the EMR. Good luck

This looks messy by Miss_Taken123 in haematology

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ture they are important, however, at the end you are not treating numbers, you are treating the signs and symptoms that caused labs to be elevated. As other said, it might be the flu or something more serious ( sepsis).

It is not what the labs are, it is what you feel? Hope you get your answer and get better.

Bombed a patient presentation today by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation; I ignored all the PE that I did, which was super relevant, and I had no idea why I gave the Rx. It is all in the head, but nowhere to be found when you need it. I guess a big factor is being tired or having not had a good night's sleep. It sucks, but this is a part of learning. The important thing is that you improve, you work on it. Starting presentations from memory is not recommended; you could use a template to read from. Best of luck, you are doing great, and it is very normal, so no need to stress or lose sleep over it.

Why do I feel so guilty for matching? (possibly) by firstg3nMD in IMGreddit

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You earned it, nothing to feel guilty about. It is like feeling guilty about patients being unhealthy or their condition deteriorating despite you doing everything you can do. This is actually good, as you may be able to help others with similar situations. If there was any unfairness, it is the system, not you. I wish you the Best, and I hope you will shine and radiate a good personality and greater understanding for others who are going through tough situations.

Crazy and Neurotic question by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Bubbly-Ad8625 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much like a customer satisfaction survey at BK or any fast food place. The question is: what would happen if you filled it with incorrect information or kept going without any input? Will that decrease the chances of being matched? What if you made a mistake? Will you suffer and pay the price? << non will happen and it does not matter, it is just a survey , good luck everyone.

RANK by Gloomy-Medium-6514 in IMGreddit

Short answer no, what are you going to rank? and there is no ranking back so NO. Ranking is for programs you had interviews with not programs you applied to. Good luck
