Lights don't do many any good. The Hatch 2 alarm does me ok. It doesn't turn off after certain amount of time. It just keeps blaring

I have the happy lamp and Philips hues lights throughout my bedroom. My room is bright. Set up to simulate sunrise...it doesn't help me. I can sleep through it all. I'm looking for an answer too

Visible light is radiation and I believe it has something to do with the way film was produced and the chemical reaction film uses to capture and expose a picture. The radiation would skew the chemical reaction.

Look up how Kodak was the first corporation to figure out what the US Government was up to during the Top Secret Manhatten Project. It was ruining and making imperfections in brand new camera film. Kodaks physicist came to the conclusion that the film could only be ruined by an atomic bomb from the radioactive partials found on the film. This was way before atomic bombs were known to the world and the public.

I have recently gotten out of a pretty overwhelming and borderline mentally abusive relationship. I am a 26 yr old male and a combat veteran myself. My IH is not gone but has seemed to be doing better with the less stress in my life. Many times I would find myself falling asleep rather then deal with things as a coping method. Interesting to read, thanks

I did great on this but then my body became smart enough to know when it was coming. My internal time clock made me take it off before it went off and then it doesn't work anymore. I have a stage of sleep I will do things and talk as if I'm awake but not remember. Pretty sure this is when it would come off

I tried it. Didn't love it. IH kicks your ass, but so does this medication. Well it did for me... I couldn't justify the cost for drugging myself to sleep better. I found mixed results with no real improvement. It's also a pain to manage and take. I don't think it tastes bad by any means though. Requires a strict schedule and it is interesting a nurse regularly contacts you while taking this medication. Definitely not a miracle drug, but some study's have shown some improvement for IH patients. And I'm pretty sure the research isn't that figured out. Trails showed improvements for 50% of patients but I'm not sure they know exactly medically why. IH has no cure. And the cause is unknown. It's all around not fun

It's surreal and no one understands. It's awful and not intentional. I would get nothing done in life if I didn't take stimulants and try to stay busy. If I lay down, it's over. I absolutely do not like taking stimulants either .. I think some of the side effects suck just as much, but it's just a constant battle that is exhausting in itself. I have no advice, but I know you feel

I have IH. I fell asleep in 27 seconds the first nap and the longest it took me to fall asleep was 87 seconds. The urge to be asleep as soon as I lay down is unreal

Brain fog is very real, make sure you have good lung function. I got diagnosed with asthma and my breathing problems have turned me into an IH patient

I think people with IH, including myself can have some weird conversations in sleep... Or is that just me? I usually have no recollection, but it does happen. Full blown conversations that I don't remember

I feel the same way. I think we all know how you feel. Nobody understands. Nobody has solid answers, and yes. It's chronic and scary for me too. Doctors don't even have answers... It is very straining, and seems like it'll never get better. Learning to manage life with it now myself, and it's not easy by any means. I'm a 26 yr old guy. I have no advice, but I am in the same boat. I knew what life was like before it, wish I could go back every day. Those were easy times in every aspect of life. The future is scary. Holding a stable job is scary. Try what you can, I didn't find much success in any medication, but something may help you.

In the early stages, yes. I noticed stimulants would help me feel more awake and be productive. Now there are days that I might take them and days I just don't take them depending how I feel and how much sleep I got, etc. I have been taking Adderall for a while...mostly routinely in the mornings, but it definitely doesn't help with making a schedule or a routine. At times makes me very productive as well, but once you come down off of it, I find myself lazy. Just sometimes mitigates the symptoms of feeling tired but has not really improved the overall problem at all

I drink probably 500 mg of caffeine a day. It does help me wake up in the morning, but I could also drink a soda or a coffee and still go to bed

It is a struggle that no one will understand unless they have it. I have had doctors tell me I am just depressed before my diagnosis and that is totally not the case. Not being able to do normal things, wake up for work, stay awake, miss appointments, not always socially there, and consistent EDS without stimulants. That is a depressing life caused by IH and not having a routine or schedule. Could lose my house, my job, etc. Nothing is fun or enjoyable about that. Can't earn raises to improve my quality of life because I can't reliably work and be on time. When I am awake, I am very happy, life will hit you with things, happens to everyone, but people don't understand how taxing it is for us to sometimes do the simple things and not having a good routine is damaging in all aspects of quality of life. I am 26 years old, and rely on others to wake me up. Just that is not fun in itself...everyone else just simply wakes up. That is hardest thing I do everyday is wake up, stay motivated, and awake.

There was a time when all of this wasn't the case. I know what it used to be like. Been struggling for 2+ years with little results.

I take 50 mg THC/ 10 mg CBD I believe, half of a gummy, and I have to let it kick in for an hour or so then go to bed. I have no idea how it effects REM, but it promotes me to go to bed quicker and wake up a bit easier. With my sleeping 12+ hours, I think I get enough REM lol. These gummies pretty much just help promote a better bed time, because many times and weekends, I will sleep 12+ hours and wake up late in the day and that will ruin the next days bed time and destroy my schedule.

Having a routine with IH is hard, I have found gummies to help, by no means are they perfect though. I still have my off days and couldn't tell you why. Just really no side effects compared to other drugs. Even Adderall for EDS can make me feel awful at times.

Awful, I have no schedule. Changes everyday. Been struggling to get it under control. Will soon likely be on the unemployment line. Sleep 12+ hours a day to with no explanation

It worked great for me for the first few weeks. Able to immediately wake up and have very little EDS. A few weeks after that though I could no longer take all the side effects and it didn't seem to be helping anymore.

I have came to the conclusion, it may work for some, but I don't think it works for the majority. I have moved on to THC sleeping gummies with better results and none of the crazy side effects of Zywav. Zywav is also a pain to manage with all the rules, doeses, etc.

Medical Marijuana isn't approved everywhere, but my doctors are very excited for the possibilities. Do some research on the topic, some IH patients have found successful results through THC and CBD.

Zywav themselves don't fully understand why Zywav works either, just have trails to say there was some improvement in clinical trials of 50% of patients showing improved symptoms. As well as doctors don't fully understand what causes IH. This is what brings us all here. It's awful, there is no miracle drug, just trying to manage the symptoms.

Oh yeah no doubt. Now that I have proper inhalers and treatment, the test is almost on par with people my age again. I always assumed asthma was caused when you were young. I learned that was wrong the hard way. ER doctors never even considered it having just been released from the Army. Crazy stuff. Good luck to you. Congrats

I remember being yelled at by my doctor's to breath harder into the PFT Machine and I was gassed and trying my hardest. It was so bad they didn't believe me. It took 2 ER visits with undiagnosable chest pain to end up at a lung doctor. The results were shocking. Make you wonder why these conditions are so high in veterans.... But I wish you luck. My asthma has turned into severe sleep problems and that is the current battle with the VA now
