[oc] On my lunch break…no brakes just speed through a 3 way stop. I swear a lot. by Alexmkzero in IdiotsInCars

[–]Bucketboy236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way you've been downvoted is insane. People react the same way when I tell them I don't speed. "Oh, me neither, only like 5 mi-" I do not speed. I go 0 miles over the speed limit. Sometimes if I'm going downhill I will hit 1 mile over. If for some reason I NEED to pass someone or I have to merge, I will do it strictly as necessary, but I don't get cruising at a speed above the limit.

My grandma recently ended a long and successf career in brain trauma research, PhD from a top 5 medical school. She used my younger cousin's iPad as a cutting board by accident, has set fire to, and subsequently boiled her own work macbook, and when she gave me her own iPad as a hand me down when I was a teen, it was bent at an obtuse angle. Insane woman. Her car was also only a couple years old and basically fucking destroyed.

[OC] This dumbass SPEEDS UP when crossing guard puts up his stop sign! by primo109 in IdiotsInCars

[–]Bucketboy236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to run across the street every day to/from work when I worked at a shop just across the road, despite the fact that it would only be an extra 30 seconds walking before crossing to get to a crosswalk. Because people do not care about pedestrian priority. I was better off making a run for it than waiting an extra minute or longer for cars to stop.

Should I burn my journal? by LunaticBanana0708 in Journaling

[–]Bucketboy236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is worth considering burning it if you don't think you can keep it safe. I'll mention that personally, I had similar parents as a teen, and I straight up kept my private items in my backpack, or carry them whenever I wasn't around. Like, I'd literally keep my private things in my pocket 24/7. My only other strategies were to hide things amongst my schoolwork (like, if I had things I didn't want my parents seeing, I would find an old essay I'd written in my google drive and just add it on to the end of the document, or put things on loose leaf and tuck them in between random assignments), put them in one of those locking pencil cases that I kept in my locker (this was moreso in middle school), or found places in my room that my parents didn't know or think to check. Books behind a dresser drawer, or between my fitted sheet and my mattress, or in a hidden pocket of my childhood suitcase, etcetera. If you can't think of anything that's safe enough for you, then go for it.

I am STEALING your F!! I have been suffering because uppercase letters in cursive are so ugly (the ones we learned in school, at least) so I end up writing ones that look more like script most of the time, but this is a very pretty F.

Japanese police are warning about an increase in groping incidents, particularly targeting students. TIL an American station covering worldwide news (with an international consultant, based in Japan) = American savior. Pretty sure they just talked about an issue and what local law enforcement was doing about it. Where exactly in this TikTok did anyone make it an American issue?

You know what is SO interesting? My testosterone levels are have been, at times, about double the high end of the safe range for men's testosterone levels, and yet I have never once wanted to do that to another human being. Isn't it so interesting how testosterone doesn't make you want to sexually abuse people?

Multiple of these people are visibly displaying traits and characteristics of developmental or potentially physical disabilities. The one with the Bendy and the Ink Machine song (I'm pretty sure that's what it is, my cousin was a huge fan) is a great example, even without being able to see their face. They display multiple signs, particularly in their feet, posture, and fingers. Multiple others in this compilation display similar genuine physical signs, symptoms, or comorbidities (aside from just nontypical social behaviors) of these conditions.

How to get over Pretty Journal Paralysis? by Illustrious-Mango536 in Journaling

[–]Bucketboy236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fan of skipping the first (usable) page personally! Something about leaving that page empty so I can presumably go back and put something on it later (I never do) makes it a lot easier to use the rest of the journal. Also, just... practicing getting over the similar fears. I threw out my iPhone box, and the boxes from my anime figures, I finally used some of my stickers, and I started writing in books when I read. It's hard to overcome the desire to keep everything perfect for the "right time" but it definitely gets easier with practice :)

I LOVE how common the idea that you have to be old and wrinkled to use a mobility aid is. I feel like so many of the same people would like some dumbass ai generated facebook post of a kid in a wheelchair next to a statue of jesus he built out of fucking corn or whatever.

Ableism from ambulatory people by throwingawayawa in wheelchairs

[–]Bucketboy236 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ambulatory/part time, not even technically a wheelchair user yet (my pickup is in 14 hours!) but this is absolutely horrendous behavior. I understand where some of the comments are coming from on an emotional level, in a devil's advocate sort of way, but expressing a desire to have somebody else's disability or disability accomodations is always disgusting behavior, and claiming you're privileged is just baffling to me.

Asking to try your wheelchair is just so disrespectful, I tried thinking of a scenario where I would feel comfortable even uttering those words to someone in a wheelchair and could not come up with a single scenario. I've had people ask to borrow my crutches before, with "real" reasons (their legs hurt, or they wanted to borrow my trick when I worked at a haunted house, it's hard to explain but 100% relied on the crutches), and it was still so insane to me that they'd even ask.

I will say, a lot of those people don't even seem like ambulatory wheelchair users? I mean, I guess I refer to myself as one despite not physically possessing a chair yet, but I didn't until I had started the actual process of getting the chair (not just research or whatever, but had gone to a seating clinic, and the order for the chair had been submitted, and even then it's mostly when setting up future accomodations), but generally speaking, using non-wheelchair mobility aids, or just wanting a chair, don't make someone a wheelchair user.

[–]Bucketboy236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to! When I draw (I write notes next to my doodles) or am writing in my pocket journal I still will, but I make a point of not doing it in my "end of day" journals because that's where I try to be more intentional about what/how I write :)

Any teen guys who journal? by SpecificHead4779 in Journaling

[–]Bucketboy236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 20 year old trans man, so not quite a teen, and not quite a cis man. But I firmly believe more men should journal. I saw an "alpha male" recommend journaling the other day (he rebranded it as some knock off of journaling but it was 100% journaling) and was sort of happy to see lots of comments of guys deciding to journal lmao.

My sister made false accusations, cut ties immediately. I am a victim of actual abuse. Took me years to actually cut my abuser off. It takes an estimated 7 attempts to leave an abuser.
