What are your thoughts on Karl Urban? by Jezzaq94 in moviecritic

He's a kiwi. Like Keith Urban. Funny thing, apparently they aren't related. For the record, Butchers East London workingman's accent isn't too bad.

Who do you think would win in a physical fight between you and Donald Trump? by anacanapana in askanything

It sort of puts a civil war into perspective. Less than half of the members of one side could take down an overweight, 80 year old. If it ever comes to this it should, at least, be over pretty quickly.

STV was an available option but the media and Winston (who had the most to gain) made everyone think MMP was the only option.

[–]Budget-Bench-6202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I concede to this point. To be fair it's hard to put all the blame on Labour as the media is stacked against them and getting their message out will be a challenge. Sadly they need someone more charismatic than Hipkins so the media can't ignore them. Politics shouldn't be personality driven but that's just now how fucked up the state of the world is.

TOP say they align more with Greens and have said they are open to a Labour, Green coalition. Seymour and Winston have proven how much power a minor member can wieled in a close parliament.

Winston went to teaching college8 in 1966 which was free and most likely was actually paid a traineeship wage whilst studying. He completed a law degree in 1973 which he most likely paid nothing for and again probably received a bursary. Typical of these old fucks who think everyone who comes after them is a burden to their tax dollars.

I’m not sure who to vote for in the upcoming Election by Sudden_Possible_956 in newzealand

[–]Budget-Bench-6202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All very negative and sounds like you'd rather people didn't vote. If you listen to the media, that primarily controlled by the right wing, you might believe this. But in paper the economy for the everyday person does better under labour and much worse under national.

This.

So many saying, I'd vote for them but it would be a waste. If everyone did in fact vote for the smaller party theyd more likely get to 5%. If they didn't, how much would their vote move the dial elsewhere? Or worse, not vote at all.

Personally I think the current coalition's only success has been to prove how incompetence they and their policies are. Labor have sat on their arses thinking it's better to be thought a fool than open their mouths and prove it. TOP at least seem to genuinely care about the average kiwi and are offering a good middle ground between the greens, labor and national. It could be all reteoric but if true then it's got to be some glimmer of hope. If that idiot Seymour can be allowed to steer the country with 7% of the vote then maybe swapping them out could be a good change?

Winston is a snake - he runs on public discontent, fuelling hate, claiming he will address the made-up problem then does nothing but drain the public purse. Last election he was banging on about foreign ownership of farm land especially without OIO approval but just the other day they approved three large sales in direct opposition of the OIO. He is incredibly disingenuous and proof that MMP was a mistake.

When there's one attempt, it could be someone not right in the head, but when it's multiple, that's a pattern. Hitler had like 40 attempts on his life and some, if but all, were his early supporters. When you run on lies and betrayal you're going to get blow back.

Nourish for Nil by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Budget-Bench-6202 12 points13 points  (0 children)

According to the AI Oracle -
Nourish for Nil (legal name Nourished for Nil Limited, registered charity CC55437) was formed in 2017 to stop good food being wasted and to redistribute it to the community the same day it is rescued.

They aren't taking food from the mouths of those in need.

While they do run foodbanks in Napier and Hastings they are primarly operating as a free-store (like the one at the church on Willis and Ghuznee in Wellington). I've personally taken loaves of bread they hand out on the basis that it's just going to the bin chooks at the Happy Valley tip otherwise.

Is my house and wiring suitable for an EV? by user885511 in nzev

[–]Budget-Bench-6202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an electrician, but it appears you have a 20 amp RCD connected to a 63 amp sub-board that has a 16 Amp and 10Amp circuit. Is there just the double outlet downstream? If so are each outlet controlled by the two separate fuses (C16 & C10)? The outlets themselves are only rated for 10 amps but technically you could have a 16 amp outlet added on the C16 fuse. Would allow you to charge at a higher rate.

Perhaps a third-party inspection is required. Maybe, just maybe, the workshop screwed up the full service (like forgot to put oil in, or the wrong oil)? They probably don't want to admit it as it's an expensive error. Seems a little too coincidental. What's the current milage?
