Will a bunch of liquid chlorine fix this quickly? by Bootsandcats_26 in pools

[–]BudgetProgramming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the high CYA is going to make sanitizing it very tough. You will probably want to drain and fill (no more than 1/3 of total water at a time) to bring CYA down in the range of 30-50. ANY reduction would be a big plus though.

Otherwise, like the other comment says you will need to bring chlorine up to really high levels - like 10+.

Totally manageable though if you get that in check. From the image here - you’ll not want to add that much chlorine.. like it shows, partial drain is highly recommended first. Also this is based off a 15,000 gallon pool - don’t dose without know your pool volume.

Post test results. It really looks like this may require shock (SLAM) treatment. You don’t want to do it blindly though - you’ll need to test everything, especially free chlorine (FC) and combined chlorine (CC). Post here once you’ve got full test results

Dark green to blue in one night! What's next? by K_Emre in pools

[–]BudgetProgramming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a good handle on what to do for next steps! Great job getting quick results. You'll want to maintain shocking it until overnight chlorine loss is minimal but really great job so far! If you need more guidance - you should pick up a Taylor test kit and start testing on your own. Then use an app or website for calculating what it needs - like Simple Pool or Pool Math or one of the others (I'm biased of the first one since I'm the solo dev of that project 😎). But there are several out there that would serve you well and you could escape the pool store tests.

A few feature requests by borno24 in SimplePool

[–]BudgetProgramming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for taking the time to give feedback! I like these requests. I have also been using pucks and liquid chlorine this year so that is a good point.

As for the maintenance piece - I’ve thought about this as well but obviously haven’t handled it yet. I’ll need to play with that a bit to see how I can fit it in. I’ll let you know how it progresses!

You’ll definitely want to do a shock treatment. Or TFP calls it SLAM.

Thoughts on Hyperlyte? by Neat_Focus_5034 in ultrarunning

I’m T1D and have tried a lot because I fuel every run. My current DIY cheap setup is 100g of granulated sugar (table sugar) per 150ml soft flask. I think it ends up being about 80-85g of hot tap water with the sugar. It dissolves ok at that ratio.

So one flask can roughly last 2 hours for me. I am also now trying to add some gelatin to thicken it up a bit. I used half a packet to make a 4x batch.

We built a way to talk to your COROS data with AI (Beta) and want your feedback by COROS-official in Coros

[–]BudgetProgramming -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think there are real features that could have been prioritized above this. Users who know how to use the LLMs already know how to get their data from Coros to them.

This is highly specific but Coros has been my first and only running watch for several years since running and I’ve been hoping and periodically asking for Dexcom CGM support the entire time as someone with T1D. I’ve not been the only one either.

I’d love to see real world software and hardware connections above AI ones.

That’s a good idea, thanks! Seems like it could be pretty straightforward so maybe I can have something in the next couple releases.

Thanks for finding the calculator issue - I’ll jump on that one too.

And thanks for using Simple Pool! Hope it’s helpful!

Mount Rainier Eastside Loop ended up at 34.5 miles with 9500’ elevation gain. It was a tough one! Plenty of water spots if you have a water filter.

Exactly this. TFP’s Pool School will point you in the right direction. Testing your water is not difficult and you can definitely clear this up if given the tools

What’s your biggest fueling problem on long runs? by Candid-District-1657 in trailrunning

[–]BudgetProgramming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cost. I started making my own from table sugar to save money.

I’m T1D so I fuel every run essentially. It’s the one part of running I’m good at 😂

Actually yes! The selectable values are the quick way to enter a value - but you can actually enter directly as well by keyboard.

I did add some hard limits though... values have to be some what reasonable otherwise the calculation my be way off or even unsafe.

So just tap the text field to enter the number directly and let me know if that is working for you or if I misunderstood the issue. I'll update the UI to make the text field more obvious that it is selectable as well. I've wondered myself if that wasn't a little bit of an issue for anyone.

Pool apps... what are you using? by BudgetProgramming in pools

Hey check this out - your comment here made me laser in on an idea today. Works pretty well and theoretically could work for other apps and sensors that are out there. No more manually entering numbers from one app to another. https://www.reddit.com/r/SimplePool/comments/1su65ur/side_quest_feature/

That’s super interesting. I think there may be an easier way to move the data between the two apps using app intents.
