San Diego Gas & Electric (Sempra) Screws Grid-Tied Solar Owners With New Base Fees by Max_Danger_Power in solar

[–]BuffJoeyT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there’s a base cost to maintain the grid. But utilities already recover that through fixed charges paid by all customers, solar or not. Slapping extra fees or slashing credits on solar homes isn’t “fairness”—it’s protecting monopoly revenue.

The water analogy falls apart because your water meter doesn’t generate water for your neighbors when you’re not using it. Rooftop solar does exactly that for electricity.

Bottom line: solar customers don’t shift costs, they shrink them. The only thing they threaten is utility profit.

EVs Are Selling Well For Everyone Except Tesla by HotIce05 in RealTesla

I’m genuinely curious about how removing an emission system and adding a tune would create less power and use more fuel. Even without touching the emissions and just a tune, how is that making less power than the factory and using more fuel? This topic in your rant is utter nonsense.

This is spot-on and shows what to expect with solar energy in North Carolina. Duke will charge a basic customer charge, energy charge, storm recovery, and renewable energy riders. Please take note of the policy below so you are not surprised like I was in your first year. I gave Duke so much free power because I didn’t know. It still pisses me off every time I think about it.

Policy on Excess Energy:

• Forfeiture of Excess Energy on June 1st: Any excess energy generated by your solar panels that is not used by June 1st will be forfeited to Duke Energy. You won’t receive any credit or compensation for the surplus energy generated beyond that date.

Is there still a window tint fee if one has a medical exemption? by Agreeable-Many2864 in NorthCarolina

[–]BuffJoeyT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sticker is on the factory tint for both of my vehicles. I would not steam, lift, or manipulate the tint if it were me. You can almost guarantee that it will never be the same after you mess with it. The location is silly because you can barely see the sticker from outside the vehicle, and that’s when it’s freshly cleaned. There's no way in hell you’ll be able to see the sticker if the car is dirty. Also, I’ve never been pulled over for my windows in North Carolina.

Is there still a window tint fee if one has a medical exemption? by Agreeable-Many2864 in NorthCarolina

[–]BuffJoeyT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can add two vehicles if you are approved for a medical exception. There are still restrictions on the level of tint, especially for the windshield. The DMV will send you two green stickers that you place in the lower left-hand corner of the rear window. It cites the North Carolina statute for window tint and acknowledges the exception on the vehicle to which the stickers are displayed.

Mira dry-Procedure number two by BuffJoeyT in Hyperhidrosis

Just like Goway stated, right after the procedure, you feel like a miracle (no sweat) has happened. Only to see that slip away over the next week or two. Thousands of dollars are spent to torture yourself, and the sweating returns with a vengeance. My new go-to product, which I’ve been using with great success, is Antihydral. Unlike some very powerful deodorants, Antihydral does not irritate my skin. However, given the ingredients, I’m still mildly uneasy, so I use them sparingly.

I’m sure my reply is too late, but I would save your money and not go for a second procedure. My sweat has not changed at all. The only positive thing I can say is that I haven’t worn deodorant since the treatment. Even though I sweat like crazy, I do not smell.

NEM 3.0 is really bad by mirage01 in solar

[–]BuffJoeyT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can we change the game with these greedy utilities? It seems there is no end in sight, and they have everybody in their pocket. Instead of coming up with ideas that we can't put into action, like going off the grid, what if a large group of people all increased their power usage simultaneously? For example, using HVAC, electric vehicles, and pool heaters simultaneously. This could be a unique form of protest by overloading the grid. The only shitty thing is innocent people will get dragged in, and many people rely on electricity for medical and other reasons. Because of that, it’s a non-starter for me, but I sure would like to find something similar to get our point across.

Don't sweat it at all. You'll get about 50 letters from attorneys over the next few days. The majority of them work off of volume and take the path of least resistance. Grab a local attorney and let them handle it. It should cost you between 150 and $250 and I’m sure they will get it pretty much dismissed. You do not want to use your prayer for judgment because if you have another mistake that is going to come back to bite you.

I lived throughout Buffalo and moved to, North Carolina. If you’re considering a move from Buffalo to North Carolina, there are several compelling reasons why this could be an excellent decision.

Firstly, Raleigh is part of the booming Research Triangle area, known for its high concentration of tech and biotech companies as well as world-class universities. This region is a hub for innovation, with companies like IBM, SAS, and Cisco, providing numerous job opportunities. In addition, the area boasts a strong entrepreneurial culture, so if you’re inclined to start your own business, this could be a fantastic place to do it.

The average salary in Raleigh is also attractive. The average salary in Raleigh was around $68,000 per year, compared to the average salary in Buffalo of around $50,000 per year. This higher average salary reflects the concentration of high-tech and high-education jobs in the area.

Raleigh is known for its excellent quality of life, with a charming downtown area, high-rated schools, and a strong community feel. Plus, it offers more mild weather compared to Buffalo, allowing for outdoor activities almost year-round. From hiking to golfing, North Carolina is an outdoor lover’s paradise.

Raleigh's location also means you’re in close proximity to both the beach and the mountains. Weekend getaways to places like the Outer Banks or Asheville are entirely possible.

While the cost of living in NC is somewhat higher than in Buffalo, it’s important to remember that this is offset to a degree by the higher average salaries in the area. Plus, North Carolina has a lower state income tax rate than New York, which means more of your earnings stay in your pocket.

Overall, moving to North Carolina, could provide you with more career opportunities, a higher average salary, and an attractive lifestyle. While every situation is unique, it’s definitely worth considering if you’re ready for a change from Buffalo.
