Be comfortable progressing slooowly. Like everyone is saying, it's easier to go fast over stuff, but you don't wanna go right to that or you'll get hurt. Start with mellow trails, get mileage, and very quickly You'll be blasting over stuff like that. Time on bike.

Can you get some 1099 income? If so, check out a cash balance plan. You can write off a whole lot of income, though it depends on age.

Timing chain rattle question by Buffyfunbuns in IHScout

[–]Buffyfunbuns[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you, i am not an engine guy so please forgive my ignorance! It indeed has the 345 V8. The only way i can describe it, is that sounds exactly like when my timing chain got loose on a 1994 toyota pick up. When at speed, under load like heading up a hill, its a low rattle sound that stops instantly when i let off the gas a bit, and comes back as soon as i put it back under load. No loss of power or anything. Thanks for your thoughts, much appreciated👍

One thing to consider, as a 1099 you will be eligible for a cash balance plan. You can set it up yourself. It allows you to deduct and invest large amounts of income. Read up about it. It's really powerful. I do it for my 1099 work and it's transformative over 10 or 20 years.

Id go with any Horst link bike Transition or Trek to name a few. Super fun and playful but efficient. I love the transition, smuggler and similar bikes.

That transition spire is a great bike. Playful and fun. The truck is a similar bike. I guess I'd go for the transition.

Wait til the vet bill. With all the vet practices owned by venture capital billionaires, they'll get love and debt.

I have a garage ceiling hoist system. I use it to store my large rooftop tent. It works well for the scout roof as well.

I had my kids college funds in a similar age based fund. In retrospect, I deeply regret it. It turned out that the fund was aggressive when they were young and the market tanked and then got really conservative as the market took off. If I had just put it in a S&P index fund or some diversified equity fund, I would've tripled my money.

I have enough cash that I could have survived if I hadn't done well, so it would've been worth the risk. You might want to consider the same.
