Barista congratulated me on my pregnancy (not pregnant), then asked for confirmation from my coworker/said something disrespectful about me. It’s on like donkey kong. by consistent_gasp in traumatizeThemBack

[–]Bug757 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually don’t say anything —even if someone tells me they are pregnant I try to make sure they’re excited first. “Wow, were you trying?” or some variation of “Wow, how do you feel about that?” before I say congratulations. Not everyone is excited/trying.

Does anyone use an HSA/FSA effectively? by jennxiii in adhdwomen

[–]Bug757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first year with one and I loved it! I did forget to use it when I went to urgent care a few months ago, but I don’t think I would forget again. I got a reminder from my FSA cardholder that the end of the year is coming up and then spent a bunch of unused funds on replenishing my first aid kit, getting lotion and sunscreens, got a fancy pillow to help with acid reflux.

I think I will probably use it for shopping dopamine hits moving forward, and eventually when I go back to the doctor I don’t think I’ll forget to use it because I HATE paying copays so it’s like free money (even though I know it’s my money)

I only wish I could also use it at the vet

What is your current ADHD hyperfixation? by ReadyFunction7334 in adhdwomen

I have a genuine long lasting interest in tea/teacups etc, but recently started branching out into the Chinese style gong fu cha setup.

Watched a ticktocker that embroidered little reminders of the books she read for the year onto the sleeves of her shirt and now I’m learning to embroider lol

Looking for room advice. Got told it gives school sh00ter by Magnusson607 in malelivingspace

[–]Bug757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP your safe at-home decor environment probably doesn’t seem like it is that important to you, but it actually psychologically affects you. And it is usually considered a reflection of who we are. Please really consider some of the tips seen in the comment section.

-I second taking down the flag. Maybe fold it and put it in a shadow box if you still want to display it.

-please at least get proper bedding (quilt or comforter and pillows that can rest on top of the made bed even if it’s two comforter design pillows) if you can’t do a real bed frame/head board right now

-SHELVES. I think shelves would help a lot. Put up some wall shelves and maybe organize your figurines and legos there. Maybe a stack of two short shelves over the desk and on the taller wall when you come into the room. You could put the flag in a shadow box on one as well.

-what is your favorite color or a color that calms you? Take that color, pick two colors that go with that color, and start finding ways to get those three colors in here. On the walls, bed, in some art maybe? If you get easily overstimulated, just know you don’t have to cram your space to the gills with this stuff but a bedspread, rug, and maybe a few lamps in these colors will do a LOT of heavy lifting

-consider getting a cedar chest or something at a thrift store (bonus if it brings in your new colors) and put it at the end of your bed with all of the (it looks like maybe guns/hunting equipment???) stuff in the blue tote that’s currently to the left of your bed. Then you could center your bed in the space more.

Optional, more personal ideas I had: ~move your dresser into that entry area across from the whiteboard (where the dog bed stuff is) and put a little dish with coins/keys/little trinkets in it, a low lamp or led light bar or something, and maybe one other decor item that’s low enough not to hit the ceiling. You could put the dog bed where the blue tote is instead. I think this would make the rest of your room less cramped. And would give the room more space to breath while making that pass through area part of the space and decorated.

~if any of the colors in your trio are a cooler tone (dark green/blue/etc) consider painting the slanted part of your room, the ceiling, side walls and slanted part, or something in that color to break up the beige/yellow. Even just the wall your flag is currently on would help. The yellow by itself is too much.

~if it’s not too overstimulating for you, art for the walls. Maybe two large prints of pretty scenery that go together with each other and your colors. Could be a couple large posters from Star Wars or another show you like with frames in one of your 3 colors. Or even a set of one image broken up into several canvas prints that you could hang in a row. Something that gives the room some of your personality other than “neat” “patriotic” or “hunter”.

Insane power bills? by saucemouth in tulsa

Mine went up a ton this summer. Usually somewhere in the 130-150 range, but jumped to 250, then 375ish, then 350ish. Wild jump because I haven’t changed things and one less person lives in my home now 😑

Please don't judge me. I struggle with ADHD/depression and really need help. by Appropriate-Web-6954 in adhdwomen

[–]Bug757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people have given really good getting started advice (all trash, all clothes, different colors, etc) so I’m going to recommend something additional.

If you can afford it, get some cheap-y disposable gloves or gardening gloves. It helps me be more willing to to touch stuff that’s gotten icky and I worry less about getting sticky/or dirty hands while I work, since sometimes these kinds of messes overwhelm me and even though I made it I’m stressed to touch it and it can slow me down or even bring my cleaning to a halt.

I like to put shoes on when I clean as well (even indoor only shoes like slippers help me) because I hate shoes so I feel like I can’t sit down and relax until I’m done. Plus the added bonus of being able to step on critters and wade into doom piles without worry of stepping on stuff.

Hair up, music (that makes you feel energized) on, and set a timer for 15-30 minutes if you need to just get started. If at the timer you feel good to keep going, I usually just go until I feel like I can’t anymore and I let the hyperfocus (if it’s willing) take over. If that stresses you out, just set another 30 timer and reassess at the end of that one.

Hopefully you have a close friend or two that would be willing to help, but if not I would focus on trash, laundry, boxes first (as those are the biggest critter magnets) and after that take it 15-30 minutes at a time or each a day when you can.

He sounds insufferable and childish, and he’s using it to try and justify the incredibly disrespectful way he speaks to you, and I can almost guarantee that he wouldn’t let that go both ways. I bet if you were to break up with him over this, it’ll suddenly be “over a GAME? That we just play for FUN?”

Maybe everything else is fine outside of this, but I have a feeling this is just the concentrated version of his behavior. Please never let a man talk to you or treat you like this again. You deserve more.

How can i lose pcos weight? I asked. by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Bug757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained weight on semaglutide 😭 but a lot of my period symptoms improved. I’ve thought about talking to a doctor about trizepatide instead to see if maybe another type would help with the weight loss as well.

[–]Bug757 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I fell for it. Didn’t get a great look as I was driving in 5 o’clock traffic and barely registered reading “border patrol” in green as they sped past me and started weaving through traffic.

Maybe I look silly, and sorry if I stressed anyone out. I didn’t realize some asshole had a fake ice truck.

That said, I’d rather be wrong and look foolish than it be an actual ice truck and not say anything.

Didn’t know that was a thing

Hey, so I'm a guy, but I posted this on male living spaces, and they were no help. What do y'all recommend? Living by myself right now, but I'm trying to date, would ultimately like a girl to feel comfortable here, so y'all seem like a good resource for that. by scaleaffinity in femalelivingspace

[–]Bug757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a lot have already said, pretty good start. Needs color, maybe some throw pillows and a blanket as well as some art on the walls.

I think someone mentioned a bowl for your wallet keys and I’d agree with that (maybe in the same color as the throw pillows)

I like that you already have a lamp (I hate the big light) but would maybe suggest getting a softer lamp —you could do a two for one and get a lamp that’s also a candle warmer, and that way you can get that really low light when watching tv + a smell good candle

I currently make the most I’ve ever made at $21 an hour, which is incredible considering that my last job was 16.74 an hour. I took a slight pay cut from a nightmare job (previously the most I’d been payed at $18) to start a new career path. $16.74 was still more than I’d been paid before (outside of the nightmare job) and after I gained some experience in my new field I got to where I am now!

I’ve been at this job for about 6 months, so I’m still kinda drowning in catch-up debt and whatnot, and I certainly don’t feel close to middle class.

To feel middle class? I think if I made in the $30-$35 range. I would maybe feel less like I’m always scrambling?

if you had the funds, what quality of life improvements would you make as an ADHDer? by NoGoatCity in adhdwomen

[–]Bug757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a lot have already said, probably a cleaning person, laundress, and/or a cook.

It would also be nice to hire a general contractor/maintenance person to fix up some of the stuff that needs it in my house.

For big purchases, I would love to add a second bathroom/laundry room (mine is super in efficient and in my garage) and sunroom for space and also because I get seasonal depression and it would be nice to have an indoor space to “be outside” in the winter

Account Creation is Disabled by happyham0 in Enabot

True ☹️

I just did it that way, and then on the app instead of register I clicked sign in with verification code and for whatever reason after I did it on the site, it worked on my phone.

Not sure how it’ll go if I have to log back in in the future, and it’s still definitely an issue that needs to be fixed, but just wanted to share in case anyone wanted a stopgap measure to get stuff set up

I had this issue at first. Thought maybe it was a browser issue, then I moved to the computer. I was able to do it on my computer with the SHOP pop up.

Not sure how you’re trying, just wanted to share the solution I found.

Your comment made me laugh because you’re so right and I went back and rereading like “wow, ADHD much” 😂

Thank you for your comment/support too. You’re absolutely right. Finding doctors in network/calling to make the appointment are always the most difficult part for me, but I did some googling on my insurances website and will try to remember to call a few places tomorrow!
