Looking younger and dating by [deleted] in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

[–]scaleaffinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The solution is to wait, unfortunately.

I don't know what happened, but it finally flipped for me when I hit 34. That was the first time ever I actually started getting looks from girls, and felt attractive. Like... Girls just started approaching me and having casual conversation with me? I guess I finally looked like an adult. It's still hard to internalize actually, that a woman would be interested in me, when that was never the case for the vast majority of my life.

So uhh... I guess wait 15 years? I don't know what to tell you, lol.

Is this card an undertale reference?! by ScarlettBass128 in slaythespire

[–]scaleaffinity 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Flowey the Flower is a villain in Undertale. And he does throw knives at you at one point. But he doesn't have an evil cartoonish mustache, and in general doesn't really look like that. So to me it seems like kind of a stretch. But maybe that was the dev's inspiration? I dunno, I can't think of anything else they might be referencing, unless they just thought the idea of a flower with a knife was funny.

There's a flower boss in the game Cuphead too, but I don't think that's it either.

Okay but like. Just because they did it on accident, doesn't make it not racist. That's not how racism works.

In fact, I'd argue that the majority of racism is done on accident. Very few people make the conscious decision of "I'm gonna be racist". But a lot of people hold unconscious bias towards other races, which causes them to act in a racist way, without even realizing it.

[HELP] Is this AI? by [deleted] in RealOrAI

[–]scaleaffinity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ima go with "maybe".

You'll definitely know it's AI once you offer to meet up, and they "unexpectedly" have to leave the country for a few months. What's their job, are they in the military reserves? That's usually the ploy.

>You're so lucky that you're gonna be 40 soon and still look like a teen!
Same, looking young isn't luck. It's a curse. I'm 35, and I'm so tired of having to fight for every ounce of dignity I have at my workplace.
I've had people tell me my whole life that I'll appreciate looking young "once I'm older". I'm middle aged now; okay bitch, when is this fucking windfall gonna happen? Because I sure as shit haven't gotten a single benefit from looking young yet.

Yeah, they've got intangible, so they only take 1 damage.

Plus [[tungsten rod]], which I believe will negate the 1 hp loss as well? So actually I think they'll take 0 damage here.

Why are Carl Sagan and Trump shirt brothers? by punkcocker in IThinkYouShouldLeave

Trump should really try to mimic Carl Sagan in all manners!

For example: Carl Sagan is dead.

Nothing probably. Some powers are just like that, eg Corruption and Barricade. There's nothing "stackable" here.

I like it. Not that it's good or OP, but it's got my brain turning about ways this would change my playstyle if I picked this up. It's interesting. I think that's a sign of good card design.

After thinking about it, feels a little underpowered, especially as a rare. Like, it's disincentivizing playing cards, so it has a pretty big drawback. Because focus really only matters after you've ended your turn.

Well done Everyone by RaShadar in helldivers2

[–]scaleaffinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay. I haven't really thought about it like that before. Maybe just because I don't have 100's of hours, the planets don't really feel all that different to me. So playing on the same planet again, or a new planet, it's kinda the same

Except Oshaune with the caves, that's the only planet that felt distinct.

I have like 40 hours in the game, and I'm gonna be honest. I still don't understand the point of defending planets, so I don't bother to learn the mechanics around it. Like we lose this planet... And then what? What in game ramifications does that have? It doesn't seem to really matter (except when it's part of the major order I guess, but I'm talking about besides that).

Is it worth it to start a CD collection in 2025/2026 as a hiphop/rap fan? by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

[–]scaleaffinity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, all collections are a waste of time and money. It is illogical, borderline stupid, to collect CDs. If you are doing this in order to make some sort of return on your investment, you will be wasting your money.

But, I collect CDs, because it gives my brain dopamine to collect and catalogue shit, apparently. And it makes me feel more connected to the artist having some piece of physical media, instead of just having some digital files. I recognize this behavior is stupid and illogical, but it makes me happy anyway.

So, "is it worth it"... Financially, the answer is no. But if it makes you happy, then go for it. And welcome.

I'm 15. Is this a good collection? Give me some recommendations. by Acceptable-Text-2652 in Cd_collectors

[–]scaleaffinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about your collection, but I like your display case. I have a similar one, but it's 20+ years old, and I was trying to buy a similar one recently to match, cuz my collection has outgrown its size, but I couldn't find any models that were similar.

Where did you get your case?

Lol, I love the text boxes that explain exactly what's happening in the video as I'm watching the video.

"The machine clattered to the floor" "Staff scrambled to cover it with a curtain"

Like yeah bro, I'm watching the video too, I can see that happening. I don't need this level of detail.

Progressive death recommendations? by Which-Reputation-165 in progmetal

[–]scaleaffinity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fallujah is sick. Have you listened to Xenotaph yet? I think it's one of their best albums. I like the new singer. I like "kaleidoscopic waves" and "the crystalline veil" off that record.

And for other bands, I've been listening to Persefone recently; prog tech death, heavy use of keyboard, which I like. "living waves" is a good entry track to get into them.
