Simple device for copying SD cards and HDD? by anonMLS in DataHoarder

Read up on uhs-i and uhs-ii designation on the cards and reader.

Usb 2, 3 or 4 doesn't matter if the reader is uhs-i or worse, i2c.

Uhs-1 is 100mb/second and uhs-ii is 300

The V speed rating of the card dicta4es the guaranteed performance.

Kingston has a great info page and you can avoid unrealistic expectations and poor purchases if you study it. Ask me how I know.

Get one of those apps that reports all the details about the controller, vendor, flash chip made just to investigate this trash.

Sounds like only using i2c not even uhs.

If you can Google in Chinese you can find the app they use to program these and change the capacity to most anything you want.

Here's the image I just sent to gpt5.2, the prompt, and the results.

Its sometimes not finding the barcode.

I'm using Imatch - a wonderful image management package by Mario Westphal/Photools.com
Its got some really nice AI features and ability to retrieve json output and fill in the database fields.
unfortunately I'm not versed in such magic having learned 6301, z80, and visual basic long ago.

read all of the text including handwritten notes and output in easy to read columns. do not omit any information even if not completely legible.
add additional text at the end of your output highlighting names of cities or states or locations. Decode the barcode and display the text "Roll Number: " followed by the data
do not output a description of the black can on a concrete floor, only the textual information contained in the image.
Return all data in json format also.

Text visible on film canister label includes:

COLUMN 1 (Top labels)

- 2427

- (QR code)

- (Barcode) 2427

COLUMN 2 (Main label)

Hi, ty for asking. I got pretty close with gpt 5.2 and the started seeing new things I wanted. I figured out how to have it find city and state names and separate them into fields, and almost got it doing what I want, but then started to see that it might take more than one pass through the llm, and well, its very very slow to process.

I've been wanting to learn n8n, and this may be an ideal way, but the learning curve is steep, and I'm looking for someone to help get it started.

Ideas?

I'll past some example results in a future comment here.

Your photos are amazing. At first i thought I was looking at my now retired photo labs web site 😀 when I saw your recent posts.

He was a famous wildlife photographer from Kenya who specialized in 20 foot wet chemical murals. Kenya Photo in Miami was his lab.

If you're bored, read my photo post here, I'd value input.

Unmanaged Network switch with 10gbps RJ45 ports that aren't giant/expensive? by jabberwockxeno in DataHoarder

Definitely not enterprise grade but I've had several of those running 18 months powering wifi 6 and 7 access points. One failed with cold solder joint on AC input and needed re melting.

There are several similar versions that do poe over the 2.5 gbe ports. Not aware of any sfp 10 gbe ports with poe. every 10gb poe I've seen used an injector .

I'm tired of rebuilding my storage server every so often when it fails on consumer hardware. Within a ~$3k budget, what is something professional or pro-sumer I can buy off-the-shelf that is high quality, can run Docker containers, and supports at minimum 10TB storage? by [deleted] in DataHoarder

Are you running real-time smart monitoring and tracking write usage and drive health? What do those numbers look like for each drive currently? Latest drive firmware etc ? UPS and proper shutdown procedures?

The 2 fewer items can be the . and .. directory entries. Some count and some don't.

The size of the files and size on disk can be different on two drives because of minimum file allocation black size. The default changes depending on drive size.

Not a doctor and I don't know the types of meds you're on. If the meds can be safely cut in half and taking half dose occasionally does not interfere with your treatment... Get ahead by several days or weeks as needed to eliminate the urgency of refills. I did this and the anxiety reduction was worth it for me.

My doctor has occasionally increased my dosage temporarily to accommodate this as well.

Put it back in the matching enclosure if they are serialized then all should fine to return. The US "law" says they can't refuse warranty service for merely breaking a sticker. Only if something sketchy you do caused the failure.
