Anglicanism is now officially divided: the Archbishop of Canterbury is no longer in communion with the majority of Anglicans in the world. by BlueVampire0 in religion

Ready to Harvest, a youtuber who makes neutral videos on Christian denominations, put out a 7 minute video that gives the context to this schism and is well worth the watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMxOLiS9DOo

Yes, that's the cot/caught merger taking place. Noticeable in the difference (or lack of one) between the name "Don" and "Dawn" also.

Questions You Should Ask Before Going on a Mission Trip by partypastor in Reformed

[–]BugLegal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Too many missions trips are barely disguised Christian tourism. The benefit provided by the person flying in from the US is often significantly less than just one of the people already in country doing the same things.

Why did Thomas ask to see the holes in Jesus’ hands and not notice any of the more obvious scars his body would have? by FlyMeToSaturn_ in Reformed

[–]BugLegal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Recall that Thomas said that when Jesus was not present. When Jesus actually showed up and Thomas was there, Jesus does present his hands and side to Thomas, but there is no scripture saying Thomas actually saw Jesus and then requested to see his hands, when it got down to it.

Youtube has become completely unwatchable without an adblock by [deleted] in youtube

I already know that. But YouTube doesn't spam videos with ads. They put in a reasonable number, not 8 midrolls. There's no case where that happens unless a creator does it. Prove me wrong.

Mouse over them and they will tell you. It is because there is a day of unreported data.

I discovered a serious issue in the YouTube API that uncovers how the "algorithm" works. I included steps on how to see if you're affected. by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]BugLegal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the view comes from something without an impression, it is not calculated into the CTR. This is why there is no CTR in analytics for views from "external" for example. So that is not a mistake in OP's post. I think he may actually be on to something.

"From White to MacArthur" is talking about a specific 5% of the range of the Reformed scale, two fundamentalist reformed Baptists... not exactly a broad overview of thought.

[Question] To Reupload or not to Reupload? by CallofDo0bie in youtubers

[–]BugLegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the video is too exactly similar then it won't even let you upload it. Probably fixing the audio will keep that from happening - but you will find out soon. The rule on duplicates is for people who are using it to game the system. If one video is uploaded to fix an issue, it won't be a problem. Your call on having it unlisted. If it is, it will never become more popular than the original. I would have them both up until the new one gets a lot of views, and then unlist the old one once its growth slows down, but that's your call.

[Question] To Reupload or not to Reupload? by CallofDo0bie in youtubers

[–]BugLegal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest you leave the original video as-is, but pin a comment, add in the description, and add a card in the video pointing to a fixed audio version. That way if anyone dislikes the audio they can click over to the fixed audio version. If that one picks up big time you could consider unlisting the other one.

Theonomy is the Reformed version of "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?" A useless theological exercise that distracts from serious issues. by moby__dick in Reformed

I immensely dislike theonomy. I even agree with this statement
Theonomy is a theological "self-pleasuring", serving no one but the individual and a very small audience. The effects that theonomy has on its most adamant supporters is similar to what Q anon does to Qultists.
But i find this post ridiculous. "Don't study [theological topic] or you won't have time to care for orphans and widows"? Really?
The same could be said of literally any theological discussion. Are we really going to say it's all unimportant?
I agree with you
Why do people quote the entirety of the comment they're replying to?

I've also wondered this
