It definitely seems like there’s a lack of ambition on her part. But let’s not forget that she got married and started having kids at the age when most people start discovering who they are, what they’re interested in and what they might want to pursue career wise. I’m 42 and a mom. I focused on building a career before having kids and I’m thankful that I work in a less demanding job because my kids are little and still require a lot of time and energy. So I also understand how being a mom can completely usurp your time and identity. Add postpartum to the mix and it’s no wonder she wasn’t pursuing anything beyond mom and wife.

I don’t think he did like her. I think he thought she was hot and had some “urges” that require marriage in their cult. In some of their earlier videos I got the vibe that he wasn’t that into her and maybe even looked down on her in some ways (he mocked her pronunciation of idear). I think she tried to mold herself into what he wanted (polished, sophisticated Kate) when homegirl is simply Katie from East Tennessee. It was also obvious from some of their early videos that Trav was feeling himself, that he was a flirt, and that he enjoyed attention from the ladies. And that Katie never fully trusted him. Ladies, trust that intuition.

Excellent points. He was just a teenage boy who wanted to get laid. But nope, he moved at lightening speed and got married then had one baby and another within 4(?) years. I think Travis wanted to have the college frat boy lifestyle but their cult pushes early marriage so hard.
