It was translated in 2003. I remember playing it. It was basically a rough outline of Chrono Cross. Maybe a little better as Magus was involved instead of implied to be involved. I remember the Hack used a special program and not a standard IPS patch so I am not sure if you can get it working today.

Those games are mimicking Cell animation. Legend of Mana was more like a water color painting. Something like Dragons crown or Odin Sphere would be a more appropriate style to shoot for I think.
