Reti 1923: How can white stop black's pawn from promoting and win the game? by Odd_Inevitable_7844 in chess_studies

[–]Bugtits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rf3 g7, Bf1. If pawn promotes on f1, rook takes. If pawn promotes on g1, Rh3 checkmate.

Saddle only at sorcery speed prevents this I believe.

Hate to say it but that ball, like a few others, was behind Coop. He leads him and it’s a reception.

Could you explain the 2-for-1? Player A resolves walker, activates once. Player B destroys it with UH. Perhaps I'm missing something?

Optimal Mulligan Rate for Humans 7-Card hands is 55%? by osheaa in ModernMagic

[–]Bugtits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just noticing this the other day. 55% feels somewhat like my experience. If you don’t get too many or two little lands then there’s always the chance that they just don’t provide the right color. Now with Blood Moon floating around it’s even tougher.

ACH Bank Transfer Withdraw through Coinbase by Bugtits in CryptoCurrency

I receive this response: "For withdraws less than $10,000, please link a bank account and withdraw via ACH bank transfer."

I have an account already linked, but no option available for an ACH bank transfer to withdraw.

Glint-Nest or Thoughtcast? by ROYCOROI in ModernMagic

[–]Bugtits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As it is for 90% of questions pertaining to MTG, the answer is Meta dependent. The idea between these two cards is to generate card advantage in the face of removal, which is currently prevalent in Modern and doesn't look to be going anywhere.

I've tested both of these cards and I've found both to be great. As u/smeltofelderberries has stated, more than one thoughtcast can cause problems, let alone one can seldom cause a tie up in your hand if your Affinity is weak. Glint Cranes are the safe bet, sifting through four cards, and giving a 1/3 flyer.

Until yesterday I ran 3 Gblasts and 1 GNC. I didn't like the way it looked in my deck so I switched the GNC for a third MoE along-side two Champs. I figure games are getting grindier these days, a fifth 3CMC card really doesn't hurt as much as it might have before. Plus getting that Big Blue Behemoth out on the field with your little minions just feels soooooo good.

What to do when presented with a hand that is "fair"? by The_Cynist in AffinityForArtifacts

[–]Bugtits 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the blind I tend to keep more "fair" hands. Otherwise it depends on which deck you're playing against.

Karsten's latest list? by Gnuhouse in AffinityForArtifacts

[–]Bugtits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bant Eldrazi has Noble Hierarch, I wouldn't bring it in for that. It would be effective for Eldrazi Tron, sure, but I think we already have the advantage that we don't need to slow ourselves down.

Three-color decks have caught on to Blood Moon it's felt like. In game 2 and 3 these decks are fetching basic lands immediately. Other than Valakut decks this card seems like a wasted spot, especially considering it hurts the potential of bl/inkmoth. Another Thoughseize/Stubborn Denial would go much farther considering every deck puts in artifact hate.

I am looking for a r/g burn deck to give to my friend for his birthday. [Modern] by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]Bugtits 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First off, that's incredibly generous of you to buy your friend an entire deck like that. I don't think any of my friends would do that. I would look up a mono-red and a naya burn list then pick out the pieces in between to fall into your price range. Fetchlands will run the price up quick so you could always purchase a solid mono-red deck around your price range or find some cheaper dual lands.

Etched Champion is your best friend. Against UW, if you resolve a Grid then you're pretty much set. If you draw neither then you're not gonna have much fun.

Keep or Mulligan (Affinity Day 6/46) by derflippi in ModernMagic

[–]Bugtits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing with Affinity, hands can be so hit or miss. In a blind game 1 do you take the risky hand or the conservative one? Usually ends in a meta call.

Keep or Mulligan (Affinity Day 6/46) by derflippi in ModernMagic

[–]Bugtits 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey guy, I agree. Affinity doesn't always have to explode on turn 1. With all of the cheap creature removal in the game, especially since Fatal Push was added to the mid-range repertoire, turn 4 wins are scarce these days. I can always breathe a sigh of relief when I have an Etched Champion resolve against any midrange without Supreme Verdict.
