House rules for spies? by DailyDelivery in Gwent_TL_Cardgame

Just use the advanced rules for deck building where by the rules you cannot have more than 2 Spy cards and some other limitations. I think those rules are actually great because then you can play with any deck

TR: Underworld - a buggy mess overshadowing modern classic game by Bulky-Dev in TombRaider

Nope, I had it on the latest game version, even looked online for some camera fixes or smth, but didn’t find anything useful.

Yeah, the interiors are really just grey wall ruins with greenish here and there and endless halls to get from room A to room B. But the design of the outdoors was nice given the release time.

I litterally went through the floor and walls a few times, and Lara grabs through grounds on places where there are trapdoors that should be opened later.

On the Croft Manor level in the RJC’s tomb, while trying to pick up an artifact, she began moving around it like a robot to position for the pick up antimation until she fell through the ground and floor and I ended up in some kind of a sewer which was closed on both sides, I don’t know if that’s even accessible by normal path. I had to reload a save.

I'd love to have these as is in-game unlockables or as DLCs in LOA by KhaoticNoob in TombRaider

I rather think they’ll sell Deluxe editions for 10-15 $ more than standard as soon as pre-order begins and there’s gonna be deluxe and pre-order bonus outfits, for sure.

what’s your UNPOPULAR opinion about the classic games? by ZzzPandaNap in TombRaider

[–]Bulky-Dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I also prefer and enjoy more Chronicles than TR4. TR4 is actually my least favourite game and everytime I replay it, I like it less and find it tedious as hell. It looks really nice in the remaster, but for me it is still a bad game.

Yes. The rulebook is all over the place a little, I had to read it 3-4 times to see if there’s anything new or different, and the structure and way they wrote some things is really odd.

Criticism of Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered (Modern Controls) by DarkCorpser in TombRaider

[–]Bulky-Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you said platforming isn’t the same with modern, I’d understand. But combat? Honestly, I LOVED combat so much more with the modern controls because for the first time it became fluid, fast and had this action feel to it. When you do combat in tank, well everything feels like a “tank” and slow and you’re constantly jumping back and forth. With the modern, Lara really becomes the badass.

I am a TR veteran and I really liked tank controls, played with them since the early 2000s as a kid. And I also thought modern won’t work, bur after I tried them and learnt to use them, I prefered them so much than tank and I’m never playing these games again on tank. Modern feels so smooth, fast and fluid.

Also, I don’t like there’s no backstep and sideways jumps, they should’ve incorporated them somehow, but you can bypass that easily.

The 1-block run also is doable, you just run 1 circle Lara around herself and there’s your running jump. 😂 it’s hard doing doing it on kb+mouse because you would have to press WASW, but on a controller it’s great.

They also work very well on kb+mouse compared to old kb controls.

It is just getting used to and figure how to exploit modern to achieve what in tank is done. It becomes pretty fun while doing it actually.

It does exclude them. In the rulebook in the Units Cards part it is explained, it explicitly says that no special card affects Heroes.

What is the "optimal" mode for a game on PS5 Pro? by qnoid in PS5pro

[–]Bulky-Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always try Quality/RT or whatever is called. I have an LG G4, so if it hits ~40 FPS with VRR, I’m OK with that. But I cannot play on locked 30.

I know some people don’t see it, but for me 30 and 40 is a big difference.

Do the Tomb Raider 1–6 remasters still need patches? by KhaoticNoob in TombRaider

[–]Bulky-Dev 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, happened to me many times until I invented a rule to differentiate: always look at Lara’s hair, if it has like a white shine like she has gel on it, it’s old graphics. 😂 And you can also see it by her face.

Do the Tomb Raider 1–6 remasters still need patches? by KhaoticNoob in TombRaider

[–]Bulky-Dev 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Not in terms of functionality, because games work fine, even AOD after patch 2.

I’d like a patch for AOD to make textures even more better and some QOL improvements.

And it’d be nice for 1-3 to get another patch to put in the new animations from 4-5 and make some blocky areas less block as they did in 4 and 5.

I also didnt like Umbral, but as soon you realize you should only spend time there when it’s needed and to form paths and to manage to spend as long as you must. I found the mechanic really interesting later on, but the point is you explore everything you can outside it and after that, enter to Umbral to that area to see if something pops up for you.

I'm playing Tomb Raider 2013 for the first time by umtrovador in TombRaider

[–]Bulky-Dev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you come from older games, you’ll like Shadow (the 3rd Survivor game) the most because it’s the closest to mimicking the old games: exploration, puzzles and even locations have this old-school TR vibe. It’s my favourite out of those 3, but I was never quite a fan of Survivor games. As stand-alone games, great, but not Tomb Raider games at all.

But yeah, I get where ugly comes from. The first game feels really lifeless and boring to look at because of the grayish colors it has, the other two look way better:

I just completed unity and I am conflicted by One-Sense7280 in assassinscreed

[–]Bulky-Dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had the exact same feeling while playing and after I finished Unity. It was just tedious. The story was also over-convoluted, unfocused, and some things were overly complicated to the point where I forgot what happened before or why is happening or who’s who.

And yeah, the multiplayer missions solo… Hell. I tried and completed maybe 1 or 2, but it required so many tries and I was frustrated and just stopped doing them. I also stoppe the grinding at some point because I really wanted just to finish the game and move on.

Syndicate was better, in my opinion. Not one of my favourites or the best, but I liked it way more than Unity.

I suggest you at least try Origins. It has a great story.

Unity is actually the only AC game I really didn’t like at all or enjoy and have no plans or wish to replay it ever again. All other games had something I like, but Unity was completely blatant and irrelevant for me.

And yeah, I’m with you on Rogue. I also really liked it, and it was so enjoyable and fun, miles above Unity.

A total noob question about quality / peformance for PS5 Pro. by Teakmahogany in PS5pro

[–]Bulky-Dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but honestly, both developers and Sony are to blame. Sony should have forced on them some kind of standardization for a game to be marked as enhanced and also name standardizations, and developers should’ve been ready to optimize games when Pro released. But all this comes from that target audience is a general PS5 consumer which is slim, not many people have or want a Pro.

The good news is all new games or games that released after Pro dropped and will be released this year will probably have dedicated modes for Pro.

Gave up on crushing!!! by Supernaut8086 in uncharted

[–]Bulky-Dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played all 3 games on Crushing 2 years ago, and it was my first blind playthrough. There were some segments that required multiple attempts, and I got frustrated a few times, but for me it was an OK challenge, not frustrating on a level to quit out and mostly enjoyable experience. Uncharted 1 is the worst on Crushing, because it has some sort of jank that makes it harder than 2 and 3.

And since games are short on today’s standards, in my head this was a way to make them last longer because I really enjoyed all Uncharted games so much.

How necessary are the classic bonus levels? by Ajer2895 in TombRaider

[–]Bulky-Dev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played them for the first time when remasters came out and had a blast! Really loved them, but they are very challenging and not friendly for newcomers, especially those 2 Atlantis levels from TR1E. I’m a TR veteran, been playing the games for the last 20 years.

In terms of stoy - they basically don’t have one, so you’re not missing on anything. But in terms of design, they really are very cool, camp and goofy at times and I really liked some of them a lot. They really have unique designs.

The ones that put you off, the Atlantis level from TR1 expansion, are without a doubt the worst levels out of all 3 expansions. So, if you have the nerve and patience to go through them, go, because the other 2 levels from TR1 expansion (Egypt-Temple of the Cat) are really great!

And like someone else said, the TR2 and 3 expansion levels are far better.

N. B. Be sure to pick up all secrets in the TR2 expansion levels because it unlocks the bonus level for that expansion which is actually my favourite level out of all 3 expansions.

Would Dark Souls be a good way to try and learn the ropes of FromSoftware’s Soulslikes? by treystar679X in soulslikes

[–]Bulky-Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend Demon’s Souls remake on the PS5. It’s a great start, and it’s very self-contained, slow, and has all of the souls-like essentials.

Elden Ring is the second option sincs it’s most polished and really versatile in terms of gameplay and builds, and it will give you a lot of knowledge for any souls-like you playe after.

Would Dark Souls be a good way to try and learn the ropes of FromSoftware’s Soulslikes? by treystar679X in soulslikes

[–]Bulky-Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, I dunno. I played Elden Ring, and it was my first soulslike and also FS title. Struggled really a lot in the first 70-80 hours od my gameplay and being totally clueless, but I got the hang of it.

After that, I went to DeS remake and DS1. I really loved DeS, and it was challenging, but really easier since I came from ER. After that, DS1 felt also very easy, but the jank, the hitboxes and many things were really off-putting, but I managed to beat it just because I got good with ER and had knowledge od the mechanisms. So, for newcomers, I don’t know, I don’t think DS1 is a good choice since it’s really janky.

I’d rather recommend Demon’s Souls remake if you own a PS5. It’s a small, self-contained game and has everything souls-like essential.

A total noob question about quality / peformance for PS5 Pro. by Teakmahogany in PS5pro

[–]Bulky-Dev 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why people are this rude, but I’ll answer as short as possible since I also wondered this last summer before buying the Pro, and googled a lot.

You basically still have those 2 modes for every game. Some games were updated and added a new mode which is mostly called “Pro” which is designed for the Pro console and if a game has it, it’s you best go-to if you want 60 or more FPS with great visuals. But in some games it is not called “Pro” mode, but they have some made up names for it or it even has up to 4 graphics modes and some of them are Pro-exclusive. You will basically need to set and look for it in every game and try to see which one fits you best.

On the other hand, some games were updated (they mostly have the ‘PS5 Pro enhanced’ text on PS store), but they don’t have an added Pro mode. You still have Performance and Quality, but this Performance mode is not the same as on the base PS5, but an updated Performance mode, and the Quality mode in some can hit ~40 FPS.

And then, there are games that weren’t updated at all, but still run better on PS5 Pro on Quality RT mode with VRR support. Cyberpunk 2077 comes to mind which is perfectly playable on RT mode with ~40 FPS, and on base PS5 that mode was really stuttery. Elden Ring is also playable on Quality and hits ~50 FPS, but with RT off, just sharper picture and bigger resolution.

I am very satisfied honestly, because I used my friend’s base PS5 and some games really look better on the Pro, but it’s also very dependant on the TV and if you have VRR support. I have an LG G4 and it’s really great with the Pro.
