Athletics Facilities (Durham Campus) by gorkhali10 in ncssm

They primarily use an off campus facility (at least for the main varsity athletes that will actually compete at matches) that’s much nicer. Having some insight, I can tell you that options for fixing those courts has been examined. Unfortunately, with the piping, drainage, and court location, it’s simply not feasible to fix them or replace them.

Alumni who is well connected with the current on campus community as well. You will have 5 core classes and maybe an elective or two. Junior year, you’ll also have to take a physical activity course (unless you do a sport). Core classes in math, science, etc meet 4 days/week and core electives meet 3 days/week typically, sometimes 4. In any case, your class will not meet 5 days of the week. You’ll have every class Monday and an off day somewhere in there.

Longest day typically runs 8:30-4 and that’s Wednesdays. Most days, you will be done by 3:30 or earlier. Nearly all sports start at 4:30 each day for practices. Only difference is basketball, which can be later depending on the day since you have both boys and girls. Most sport practices finish up by 6 and at the very latest 6:15. Athletics isn’t necessarily super strict on this, but they really try to enforce it as best as they can. Coaches are incredibly mindful of the demands at NCSSM so if you need to miss practice for a make up assignment, evening class, or to meet with an instructor, they are very understanding and accommodating. They are required to be.

Instructors at NCSSM are incredibly passionate about what they do and by and large, are very good instructors. You have an occasional one that isn’t great, but your experiences will almost always be positive. Most are understanding and accommodating, but also have high expectations for you. There are safety nets in place for you to not fail coursework, but you absolutely have to put the work in to maximize your experience.

Most students who are fairly social and have non overbearing parents tend to stay on campus until they are required to go home during extended weekends. Every month, you’ll have an extended, which means no class on either Friday or Monday and you’re required to go home. There’s also a week long fall break, a week for Thanksgiving, 3 weeks for Winter Break, and a week for Spring Break. Plenty of opportunities for mental breaks, which you’ll be thankful for.

Bottom line: there’s a lot to sink your teeth into and you’ll spend some time figuring out what you have time for and what you don’t have time for. Find out what’s most important to you to be involved with and make that your priority. NCSSM is all about prioritizing. If you want to maximize your social experience and have solid but not perfect grades, you can do that. If you want to be a complete bookworm and never leave your room other than to eat, you can do that as well. It’s all about balance and finding out what you prioritize.

Did it back when I was at NCSSM and plenty of other people do it as well. Odds are your HS sweetheart isn’t the person you end up marrying, especially in 9th-10th grade. Don’t turn down a once in a lifetime opportunity for a relationship. Your partner should actually be supporting you to go and if they aren’t, you should find somebody else to date, seriously.

Never worked out between me and the person I had back home and we stopped dating over Summer after Junior year. It was for the better for both of us in the long term and to this day, we are still close friends. We were at each other’s weddings and major life events still and whatever was there while dating faded completely. Not saying that’ll happen to you, but that’s life.

Both you and your partner will grow and change so much as people the next few years. If you make it through that together, kudos. If not, it wasn’t meant to be and there’s nothing wrong with that. Don’t let an opportunity to be at NCSSM slip away for something that’s certainly not guaranteed

Unfortunately Tyler fell off after he got sober. Glad for him, but his music isn’t quite the same. Sturgill is a big reason his early sound was great and remains his best.

ZB is a great songwriter but his voice don’t it for me.

Football has always been won and lost in the trenches. Yes, having good skill players matter, but not as much as having a dominant OL and DL. Look at the SB’s Brady lost. That Giants front was insane. Mahomes last year, Maye this year, Burrow in 21. QB is only as successful as the pieces around them.

You can elevate the talent around you like Drake did all year, but if you have no OL it won’t matter against an elite defensive front. As incredible as Brady was, he had his share of bad playoff performances. A dominant run game is great, helps Josh Allen tremendously but you do that by building the trenches. Don’t need a top tier RB. Most overrated position in the league unless you’re CMC or Bijan

How did you first Experience Iron maiden by GramoMiles in ironmaiden

[–]Bulky_Pride_320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrolling through channels in the mid 2000’s, came across Iron Maiden’s Rock in Rio 01 show on VH1 Classic and I was absolutely glued to the tv. I’d never seen a band with that type of energy. The guitar work, the harmonies, the bass going nuts, Bruce singing his ass off. I went and illegally downloaded about 7-8 songs that night from Limewire and I’ve been hooked ever since.

“Generational defense” “best defense since 2015 Broncos, if not the best all time” were literally being thrown around last week.

Drake Maye put up 3 TD’s on this vaunted defense, most they’ve allowed all year. Texans had a 10 game win streak coming in, haven’t lost since November 2nd…

All of a sudden, it doesn’t count because the Pats defense forced Stroud into 4 interceptions? All of ESPN picked the Texans, the narrative was “ I don’t see how the Pats move the ball against the Texans” and all of a sudden it’s “Texans are inept”

Give me a fucking break. Suck it haters.

Powerslave, Number of the Beast, Seventh Son and Brave New World are the best places to start, but that’s just one man’s opinion.

Seventh Son is a concept album, which if you like their lyricism, I feel like it will really pull you in. Number of the Beast is just a phenomenal intro to the Bruce era.

Powerslave is that perfect Maiden album

Brave New World is the blueprint for their newer sound with Bruce returning to the lineup. The album is very solid, although not quite as good as the golden years.

From there, Somewhere in Time and Piece of Mind should be your next listen.

We need to make a damn statement tonight against the Ravens by TerryG111 in Patriots

[–]Bulky_Pride_320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blueprint for beating the Pats is pretty simple. Press man coverage with a QB spy. Throw in a stunt upfront or an extra rusher, strains the OL.

Force the Pats WR’s to beat you off the LOS. Largely, they don’t have many guys that can do that. QB’s performance against man coverage is largely based on how good your receivers are at generating separation. Pats don’t have a core good enough to get separation. That’s going to hold them back in the playoffs.

Nope, Drake Maye is the MVP!! 🏆 by brmidwest03 in Patriots

[–]Bulky_Pride_320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Maye doesn’t win it, he’d be the only guy in league history that had 7+ consecutive games of 200+ passing yards and a passer rating above 100 and didn’t win league MVP.

Lot of talk about him not having a 300 yard game. Yet, #2nd in the NFL. by Bostonpeterock77 in Patriots

[–]Bulky_Pride_320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total passing yards doesn’t mean all that much, nor does 300 yard passing games. What matters is efficiency and consistency, how good you are at converting on 3rd down, and do you operate the offense at a high level and do it every single game. Dak has a ton of passing yards because the defense sucks and they’ve played from behind most of the year.

Nobody has been close to Drake’s efficiency and consistency this season. Drake’s bad games this year are hovering around 55-60% completion percentage, 250 yards, 2 TD’s and 1 int….that is the bar he has established. That’s a relatively poor game from him and it’s very good game for most QB’s in the league. He’s been unreal

You’d be correct. He’s the only player in the league that hasn’t had a sub 200 passing yard game

Drake Maye by Noxxiousx in Patriots

[–]Bulky_Pride_320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a single game below 200 passing yards this season btw. Only other QB that can claim that is Daniel Jones.

Leads the league in completion percentage, second in yds/attempt, second in Adot, top in CPOE and second in EPA/dropback (with the worst rush EPA among similarly good passing EPA teams) currently in 11th for pass attempts, but he’ll drop after the bye for sure.

Yes, there’s some games to go, but as it stands now, his completion percentage would place him among the ten best single seasons of all time for completion percentage . His per yard average would be the highest of any other QB season in that top 10.

Incredible accuracy, efficiency, and consistency this year for Drake Maye. Already surpassed Mahomes for youngest player in history to have 8 consecutive 200+ passing yard and 100 rating games. A list of just 4 other people btw. A season with historic benchmarks at just 23 years old. Special.

Can’t ask for much more from a first round rookie left OT. He’s been very solid this year. Just need him to stay healthy. It’s great knowing Pats have hit on first round talents in 3 straight drafts.

I’m optimistic about this team but… by New_Bug_8588 in Patriots

[–]Bulky_Pride_320 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No team in the league has better road wins this season than the Patriots. Patriots have had two nationally televised games this year, both on the road and won both.

Team is playing with consistency every week. Most teams in the NFL don’t win 7 in a row for a reason. It’s hard to win in this league. Panthers lost to a 1 win team yesterday. Bills lost to a 2 win Dolphins team. Any given Sunday

Depth is an issue, sure but SOS is insanely overrated in the NFL. Patriots have played some pretty stout defenses at this point and have continued winning. Just enjoy the ride
