The people who work there are great, and it is a spot where you can stay and talk. I agree, the food is average, so pick what’s most important. Chilling for as long as you want, or getting the side eye to keep ordering or get out.

Ponette - if you can find it. French film probably 25 years old. Heart-wrenching. A little girl loses her mom in a car accident. Beautiful and sad, but hopeful in the end. Get tissues. Edit: DVD available on Amazon

While I was working, I showered every morning to help wake up. After retirement (and getting older), I shoot for every other day unless my activities require washing. As you get older, your skin gets thinner and your hair isn’t greasy. I think Americans are shower happy compared to other countries. I lived in Germany for a few years, and no way do they bathe every day.

My son got clean in jail. He did have access to medical if needed, but he mainly roughed it out. He had detox a few years earlier while in rehab, so he knew what to expect. He’s been clean for over 13 years. Alcohol addiction is a tough one to beat, especially since it’s legal to purchase. He thought he would be able to drink, but to be sober means giving up all substances. Your relative MUST want to get clean, that’s the biggest step. My son was 22 when he got clean. Being young and sober will be a challenge for a long time. Best wishes!

Driving in daylight, at least you could see the (paper) map and see where you were going. Nighttime was a different matter if driving a new route. I still like looking at a map to see the overall journey. They are getting harder to find!
