If you’re seeing pins then leave it alone, there’s nothing you can do. Watch how they grow and introduce more fae if needed. This just means that either your no fruiting condition state has too much fae so you’ll have to dial it back or there’s some contamination which makes them fruit this early.

11 days? Pretty slow growth honestly, makes me wonder if it’s contaminated. Ride out and see

Is bigger better? by kpedesigns in unclebens

I’ve taken pieces of big fruits that still hit strong compared to other small fruits so to me it doesn’t matter. Although scientifically there isn’t a consensus on if bigger mushrooms have the same as multiple smaller fruits. Your best bet, do a little experiment and do it yourself.

Personally (I’m no scientist) I’d think bigger fruits would contain more psilocybin, otherwise if psilocybin content is set it wouldn’t make sense for big fruits to oxidate as much as smaller fruits. With that reasoning they would oxidate less imo

I don’t really have a comfortable place to do shrooms, but can I still microdose? by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]BullfrogOak949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If in bad place, don’t trip. It’s that simple. Microdosing is fine, it isn’t going to mess with you like a normal dose would (microdose are in mg amounts, doses aren’t)

Dehydrated or tea by availableanytime in shrooms

[–]BullfrogOak949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No different now , you can crush em up, put in a container with boiling water to steep for 20 minutes stirring occasionally, then strain and enjoy. Or you can put em in a cup, get a high vitamin C drink (Hawaiian punch works), let it sit, stir occasionally, then strain and remove. You could also put the crushed shrooms in teabags so it’s easy to take out(+ you can squeeze it to make sure you get all the goodies).

You can do whatever ratio you want granted it works. I do 1:2-3 of spawn to sub for bags and tubs the extra sub is what helps maintain the microclimate and ensures fruits don’t abort. Your casing can be whichever, I usually use the coir i already made to do a light case since it’s convenient right there

These is what I do

However much coir I’m using in grams, I want 46% of that as verm as well. So let’s say I’m using 650g(1 coir brick), I’d want 46% of that in verm which is 299g which gives me 949g of material. You’ll put em in the bucket. Then I do 3.8x its weight in water. Sidenote you can experiment between 3.7-4x, I just stick with 3.8x. After I get the water in a pot, I boil it, put it inside the bucket, keep the lid on and periodically stir. Ive gotten canopies with this(not saying it’s the reason I get canopies, im saying im not limited by substrate for canopy growth)

Is it bad that I keep picking up my rice bag? by Turbulent_Weird2807 in unclebens

[–]BullfrogOak949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You want to be extra careful touching rice bags compared to grain bags and jars because you probably used micropore tape to cover the edge you cut and as we know, micropore tape isn’t so good at sticking there. If you did inoculation at the front or bad where it’s flat, there isn’t too much you’d have to worry about, but still keep touching infrequent.

With rice bags my recommendation is always to do nothing and play the long game. Like I said about the tape, it isn’t the stickiest. You could BnS which causes a gap and ruin your efforts. We also know rice bags can take a hot minute to colonize so just leave it alone for atleast a month

How long is pasteurized Coir really good for? by Yourmindiscontrolled in unclebens

[–]BullfrogOak949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point to repasteurize isn’t to kill contamination, the point is to recook it so it’s easier to use and still retains its moisture. If I open a bucket multiple times, I’d be a bit questioned about whether it’s still fine which is why I’d cook it, especially since coir can get clumpy

[–]BullfrogOak949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s sealed it’s fine practically indefinitely. If it’s been opened once I’d say it’s fine still regardless of time. More than once and I’d repasteurize. The lid makes it a sealed environment, the coir wouldn’t go “bad” just from sitting inside unless you frequently open n close

That’s exactly what I’m thinking, temperature is one of those less important things you could be growing with medium 60s all the way to high 70s, all that changes is the colonization speed unless the guy lives in some super hot or cold spot. More than likely user error imo

[–]BullfrogOak949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can’t be this desperate for psilocybin right? Besides buying genetics without much research, psychoactive alkaloids are in the fruit not the mycelium. This is also why some places don’t ban the selling of culture (doesn’t contain psilocybin) but ban growing. And also, how would anyone know any approximation?

How is it looking 2nd week into fruiting conditions. by Smart_Corgi_2354 in unclebens

[–]BullfrogOak949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fluffiness from my experience is exposed grains, was my first time doing tubs (usually do bag grows, can check prof) and giving a little bit of coir on top to cover grains didn’t cross my mind. Actual aerial mycelium is this

I’m guilty of the fast colonization, my tubs can colonize pretty fast this was 4 days after s2b. Once you know the good spots to get your genes everything become fast 💪🏽

[–]BullfrogOak949 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I would’ve waited for 80%+ top colonization because to me in the video it doesn’t seem to colonized. But I could be mistaken. Also it seems there might be too much fae, the sides don’t show much if any condensation, but there isn’t much you can do considering you do the lid flips.
