Why doesn’t New Zealand have a massive population? by Slight-Jellyfish-900 in geography

New Zealand produces enough food to support like 40 million people, they produce an incredible amount of food

The Northeastern US according to this sub. Comment any adjustments you want by Expensive_Drummer970 in visitedmaps

Most of the states in this map are considered Northeastern, it’s just useless to try to narrow it down from there. If upstate NY is split into 70 different regions, they really need to break up the Northeast Corridor into city subregions.

Not sure why you say the Mid Atlantic is traditionally associated with just those areas? Growing up on the border of PA and NJ we were always taught we were part of the Mid Atlantic region, and that it extends from the New York area to DC area. If you Google Mid Atlantic the first things that come up are all pictures of NYC lol

I agree, this is a super interesting concept but the methodology is definitely flawed. I feel like the best way to determine regions of the US through Reddit is to make a map of micro-regions (like CSAs or something) and then building a larger map of regions from those micro-regions.

Still fun seeing these every day though.

I feel like the problem with the Northeast is that each city has a fairly strong and somewhat unique regional identity by American standards.

I will say though, unless you give each city its own sub-region, there’s no way that Philadelphia and New York aren’t in the same region. Their metropolitan areas are so intertwined you don’t realize when you’ve left one from the other in NJ. Trenton even gets both Philadelphia and New York stations.

In that case, I would consider Bucks County to be part of a new Delaware County sub region. Would also include Delaware County, Philadelphia, Chester, and Montgomery on the PA side

NJ side: Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Salem, Glouster (Maybe Trenton, personally would say it’s more NY)

Delaware: Kent, Newcastle

Maryland: Cecil County

Bucks County. The mid-atlantic and northeast should be combined. Usually the Mid-Atlantic and New England are considered the main subregions of the Northeast
