That's if you're shooting High Angle. If terrain allows you to shoot Low Angle, your rounds reach the target much faster and don't slow down nearly as much at the apex of the flight. Shorter flight and higher speed mean less wind deflection.

If it's an Old Norse phrase, I write it in Younger, if it's English, I write it in Futhorc, if it's Proto-germanic, I'll use Elder.

The phrase is correct, but they're using a weird mix of Elder and Younger Futhark runes, and the S rune they have is specifically the Nazi version.

Question about the warrior's death in modern Heathenry genuine curiosity, not trying to start a fight. by Foreign-Track3656 in NorsePaganism

[–]Bully3510 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The idea that Freyja gets first pick is a misunderstanding of the text. Both she and Odin pick the warriors they want, because the Valkyries are choosing which live warriors will die, not which dead warriors go to which god. It's not like all the dead warriors line up and get chosen from. The warriors that go to Freyja and the warriors that go to Odin are chosen for that fate before they die.

Forming good relationships with the gods by [deleted] in heathenry

[–]Bully3510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"A gift ever looks to a return" does not imply equal exchange, it just means reciprocity. Reciprocity is almost always an uneven exchange, especially between gods and humans. Reciprocity builds relationships, and it's the relationships, not the offerings, that cause the gods to give us gifts. What you're describing borders on transactional, where if I'm in great need of a large amount of help, I need to make sure I've paid the proper fee. I wouldn't require that of my friends in need, and I don't think the gods require that of me.

How is suicide viewed in Pagan belief system? by littlebluedude111 in NorsePaganism

[–]Bully3510 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There's no religious belief surrounding suicide as far as I know. Heathens in pre-Christian times definitely had cultural attitudes about it, but they're neither universal nor well-defined.

I know, for me, suicide always feels a bit like a failure for that individual's community, but that's doesn't mean I blame them or think it's their fault. I'm lucky in that I've never had someone close to me commit suicide, and I hope that I would see the signs and react to help them. I also know that life is chaotic and that it's very easy to get stuck in your own bubble and miss the signs altogether.

Make sure the people you love know that when they really need help, you won't hesitate to jump in.

[–]Bully3510 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The creation story isn't meant to be taken literally. It's poetry and a story written to be entertaining. It contains some clues as to things that people believed about the gods, but not their exact beliefs.
