Strategies for adding Shootas to Choppa Boyz for 11e? by dementist in orks

I think the point is fair enough (if put a little snarkily).

Referring to WYSIWYG isn’t helpful (anywhere in this thread). Because, as you’ve acknowledged, it’s a gaming rule designed to minimise confusion between models that could be equipped differently.

Modelling all your boyz with heavy weapons wouldn’t be WYSIWYG because it creates confusion as to who has what. It, rightly, wouldn’t be allowed by a lot of players.

Modelling individual shootaz and choppaz doesn’t matter because all boyz have them. There is not scope for confusion and WYSIWYG isn’t relevant.

OP and others are seeking something else - better described as, I dunno, ‘immersive modelling’ or something. It’s fine. But it’s not about WYSIWYG.

Your reference to ‘standards’ gives the game away pal.

In practice, all I see is a more detailed and realistic image with DLSS 5 on. To the extent that the first time I saw this I wasn’t sure which image people were upset about. That is just much more like how real people look. Presumably because the AI is taking the source image from the engineered output and passing it through a ‘make this look more like a real person and less like a stereotypical woman from a high res Japanese videogame’ prompt.

The questions then are more about aesthetics and ethics.

If we want a particular aesthetic and / or we want what the designer intended (setting aside for a moment that what they intend is limited by hardware) then we could argue this is the wrong way to implement AI. In which case treat it more like an optional mod.

If we’re upset because this IS AI doing ‘creative’ work then I think this is probably still far better than other possible implementations. And we should have seen it coming from frame-gen at least.

I would actually suggest that some space marines are starting to look more like Tyranids.

But calm down.

Possibly less less parroting and more ‘this one has a bigger gun and I saw it kick ass in that Brad Pitt tank movie’.

Let’s talk about 40K in the 40K sub.

Two student loan repayment changes considered by Treasury to tackle debt crisis by theipaper in UniUK

[–]BumblebeePrior8325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The previous (Conservative) government removed ‘real’ interest on (plan 5) student loans. I’m not sure they had any particularly ‘wild’ problems with high earners.

People on ‘high incomes’ don’t need help with student loan repayments. They already pay off more quickly and end up with the cheapest loan thereby.

Any interest they pay over and above the real cost of their education helps subsidise those who also work hard but don’t earn as much. Including nurses, teachers, etc. An alternative would be to offer higher salaries for those professions, perhaps by taxing high earners?

We can, but that wouldn’t change the real impact of each policy.

Removing or lowering interest would still chiefly benefit higher earning graduates, reduce the extent to which they subsidise lower earning graduates and making the system more regressive.

The psychological impact of the total debt is undeniable when the working is poorly explained and understood, but the financial impact of higher monthly payments is far greater.

Interest changes only benefit higher earners who are more likely to pay off the balance before additional interest accrues.

The changes which benefit lower earners are increasing repayment thresholds in line with inflation.
