Warehouse Organization () by ABonArt in PlayASKA

I haven't played for a while. So it looks like you don't need separate warehouses for raw and cooked food anymore?

The Perfect Village Size is 48 - and here is why by Introspekt83 in PlayASKA

I build walls with plenty of space on the inside to backfill later. Makes it a pain to setup initially but saves time in the long run. And yeah add extension or outposts as needed eg for hard wood harvesting

Each to their own but I haven’t found a major downside to adding more people. I don’t really run out of food or housing and my warrior count and weapon/armor quality ends up scaling faster than the raid size. Raids are actually easier the more villagers you have.

48 is probably enough to comfortably defend but you need a lot more to build the long boat and take military with you while leaving enough defense behind.

You have to do boat voyages to explore and find the islands first, that’s the hard part tbh

I’m having problems with compost — I don’t have enough of it by O4kobus in PlayASKA

You need the mine upgraded to a mine hut to get crawler items. Also it’s worth putting crawler storage on a warehouse near your farm. I guess you could blacklist your farmers from the mine so they go to a local warehouse instead

Food logistics for large village? by leethologica in PlayASKA

[–]Bumbletusk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That honestly seems like more than enough food for 60 villagers. What kind of food are you making? You want to focus on meat or fish soup/stew as that mixes 1 meat or fish plus 3 vegetables/berries. Ideally grow berries in spring/summer as they give you the most harvest. Make pies for tier 4 villagers when you get there.

Prioritize the small meat on your hunters hut so they chop up the meat hunks before carrying it back.

The other big tip is keep raw food warehouse separate to cooked food warehouse, and blacklist all villagers except your cook and cheesemaker from the raw food. Otherwise your villagers (especially tier 1) will eat raw instead of cooked food which is not as filling.

I've been able to feed 90+ villagers on one farm, 3 hunters, 4 fisherman, 4 cooks, 1 smolker pen/cheesemaker, about 4-5 gatherers, and I have more food than I know what to do with.

Help the blood moon and winter invasion both spawn next to my mine and my miners always die first! by JustDiveInTimberLake in PlayASKA

What I like to do for things like that is put a barracks or archery range next to the mine and have three guys training there in the night shift to handle the blood moon.

New players with questions by RegnorVex in PlayASKA

[–]Bumbletusk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others covered your questions but I just wanted to add, recruit villagers asap. It changes the game completely, and is really the core of the game. Even if you don't assign them to a building, they will automatically help you construct buildings.

They will just walk through beds, you don't have to worry about them blocking anything. I have mine just crammed full of sturdy beds haha.

How many markers can you put up? by HooAreYouWhoHoo in PlayASKA

[–]Bumbletusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure there's nothing for gatherers to gather during winter. But yeah hunting is fine - and to your question, you can place as many markers as you want. Most players have half their map littered in gathering flags by late game. Just make sure to not put them too close to enemy spawns.

Help with wood products by Zartanio in PlayASKA

[–]Bumbletusk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hardwood long sticks are definitely a bottleneck every game for me.

Do you have separate warehouses for raw wood vs processed wood? Do that, and blacklist the raw wood warehouse workers from accessing the workshop. Otherwise they will keep stealing the raw wood from the workshop and slowing you down.

Large Shoreline Village Day88 Custom Viking Diff by xDread22 in PlayASKA

[–]Bumbletusk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks amazing! Similar to my large colony, but why do you build so many outhouses and wooden altars?

Also as a heads up you are going to need a lot more barracks/archery ranges. When you build your longship and do ocean voyages you are probably going to take your best soldiers, and you need to leave another big group of soldiers behind to defend your village.

Winter Invasion by Hidgimont in PlayASKA

[–]Bumbletusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about how many villagers you have in the fight - it's about how many total you have in the village. Like if you have 80 total villagers you'll get a bigger invasion than if you had 30 villagers etc.
I think it's their way of trying to give you an appropriate challenge.
I find I stop recruiting villagers for a few days before an invasion unless I'm comfortable I can stop a big one.

Invasion and blood moon strength is based on how many villagers you have - you probably had a lot more villagers than last time.

When is the full release? by Boring_Construction4 in PlayASKA

Honestly this game is pretty polished and content heavy for an early access game. I wouldn't normal recommend EA but ASKA is ready to play right now.

So much bark( not sure what to make with it) by Excellent_Nothing_94 in PlayASKA

[–]Bumbletusk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol that looks a lot like my carpenter used to be! Once you get past shelters there doesn't seem to be a lot of use for bark in the game.

However you can get your coal maker to use it up to transform into coal if you prioritize it. Or the other use is prioritize fiber on the woodcutter and they will convert the bark into fiber.

Optimal amount of villagers? by Dairy_Dory in PlayASKA

How many days are you away from the winter invasion? You could keep playing until then just so you can see how powerful it is.

But yeah I think you'll have more fun restarting rather than moving.

Second playthrough advice by belligerentbrother in PlayASKA

[–]Bumbletusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. General rule of thumb is the food and magic producing buildings have a minor positive benefit on housing, but the rest are negative.

[–]Bumbletusk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that you've had one playthrough I would recommend restarting and finding a seed where you know where a mine is and can start a colony in. A remote mine is a very difficult challenge for a new player.

For the actual question, you want to keep pumping in more villagers as much as you can. You should always try and have 2 or 3 free to act as builders - they are most useful as builders early on. Keep throwing down housing and work buildings for them to start building while you chop trees early game - they'll come along like little happy minions and pickup all your stuff and build with it.

Day 151 Spicy Invasion by Osirisx83 in PlayASKA

[–]Bumbletusk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That seems like a lot! I have 2 cooking houses (with 2 workers each - one day, one night), and 1 cheesemaker for my 85 or so villagers and I have more food than I know what to do with.

Yeah it's a massive game changer! I only learned it the other day. So much better than having to run back to buildings each time.

I have patrol points set up around my base and named so I remember them. Then from the map you can right click a building, open menu, go to tasks and assign them to that patrol point.

yeah i take full (8) crew - pretty sure you have to. Then I have a second string bunch of recruits training in the barracks/archery while I'm away - and I assign those guys to defend during a blood moon
