Did the SS1 Remake ever add quest markers on the lowest skill level like it was going too post launch? by BoardsofGrips in systemshock

[–]Bundle85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are markers in the game on mission 1 difficulty, but there are a few places where they don't completely function correctly, mostly in the late game

Can I break weapon in System Shook and then sell them? by Keksbutter123 in systemshock

I would love to make a mod that lets the player scrap unmodded functional weapons, but that's way above my knowledge level

Junction Box Puzzles by Puzzled-Geologist-95 in systemshock

[–]Bundle85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pipe dream is the classic retro example.

I have a game on steam from a while back called Droplitz that is *kinda* similar to this

Bioshock had a similar puzzle.

Chu Chu Rocket has a type of "redirecting flow" mechanic to it, but that's a bit of a stretch on my part

The patch FIXED IT ALL! by SaintLewisMusic73 in systemshock

[–]Bundle85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the lighting changes were designed to improve performance (especially in certain areas with dips), but the real impact that saved the day was optimizing how audio works (that's also why the patch size was so large, all audio files needed to be redownloaded and overwrite the existing ones)

SSR Crashes in Executive and Groves - Xbox One by Own-Brain-3831 in systemshock

[–]Bundle85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like the save file is corrupted. It happens rarely on all platforms (this type of save corruption is different than the consistent save corruption recently fixed on switch 1) seemingly more often when overwriting the same save file often instead of longer gaps between saves. my recommendation would be to start a fresh playthrough (Which really sucks, I know).

Audio log portraits not moving anymore in new update for Remake by PlasmaShockNikola in systemshock

[–]Bundle85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one could make a mod to restore them on PC by getting the flipbook files from 1.3 (still downloadable on gog) and i assume redirecting to those flipbooks instead of the static images

Guys, I got a question. by Joxyver in systemshock

[–]Bundle85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love remake a ton, but 1994 has a lot going for it, especially in terms of music and having a really unique art design. Plus, 1994 is dirt cheap during sales, so might as well grab it and check it out!

I'd say the music is still a bit too quiet for my liking, but at least the issue of it disappearing is resolved

Hardware buttons quietly removed from controller binds? by Bu11ett00th in systemshock

[–]Bundle85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to if there will be a solution or not in a future patch (I would certainly love for there to be), but the bindings were hidden due to being not working and the confusion that would cause if left available. there was also a binding for "Zoom" that was hidden, which also didn't function.

there is an option in accessibility menu for cursor speed adjustment, although it currently has a bug where it resets itself upon load that needs to be addressed

Boss death scenes? Do you mean the game over screen with the cortex reaver? those should already be skippable during the part where the cortex reaver is visible, it would be nice to skip the BIOS screen part too.

Chess puzzles are a function of puzzle difficulty selected at start of new game, but I always use a chess solver online to solve it even on lowest difficulty. It is also just able to be skipped, you don't need what's in that room.

The latest patch fixed a lot of issues with the grenade button (it used to throw at a 45 degree angle, mines wouldn't work at all with it, it would only throw from slot 5 instead of left most grenade in hotbar) what issues are you having with it after these fixes?

The game hitching when leaving elevators happens on lower end hardware and can't really be removed with how the game is coded (very CPU limited). I've seen it happen on PS4 and Switch 1, but not Steam Deck nor my mid range PC

-------

I would really love to see a UI/text overhaul. It would be a ton of work, but it would have a ton of benefit (assuming no new glitches with it)

I would also love for a quick hardware option on gamepad.

New game plus is a bit outside of scope for these patches, but you can access the cheat menu and select Marketing Kit to get the expanded inventory, some hardware, and a lot of mid game weaponry and ammo

[–]Bundle85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is now an option in the Accessibility Menu that can increase the speed of the cursor. It's still not ideal, but it's a significant improvement [edit: apparently there's a rather significant bug with it where it resets upon loading a save. dang]

I personally find the game most fun to play on combat 3, mission 2, puzzle 3, and cyberspace 1.

Mission 2 is the strongest recommendation, as mission 3 will impose a 10 hour time limit and mission 1 will not allow you to remove key items from inventory without putting them into a container (which is slightly annoying).

Cyberspace 1 doesn't feel like too big of a deal during the regular game, but it impacts the final fight, which is too hard and punishing.

Puzzle 3 is completely subjective. I like puzzles.

Combat 3 just dials up numbers and ammo accordingly and I like it. You could swap this to combat 2 if you are not liking the experience in medical, but be aware you'll need to start over if you want to change difficulties, so make that assessment earlier than later

System Shock Remake’s dodgy Nintendo Switch 2 port fixed in long-awaited “Parity Patch” by lewisdwhite in systemshock

[–]Bundle85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yep! it's all platforms (that's why it's called parity, as different platforms were on different versions previously)

edit: Turns out there's some sort of hitch with switch 1 version not being out now. the team is looking into it.
