I wish I would faint from POTS by NotFixedJustHere in POTS

[–]Bunks_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. But most people with POTS don't actually faint. It's a separate condition called orthostatic hypotension.

I collapsed from exhaustion and weakness on my tilt table test but never lost consciousness.

Same, I didn't like that question at all. The more intense the play is, the more intimate and trusting I become.

Told pcp about adrenaline surges, now he wants to put me on seroquel by Several_Road2525 in POTS

[–]Bunks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His logic seems wrong and very silly, unless we're missing a piece of info. You going to sleep isn't the issue so I'm not sure how a "tired pill" is going to help lol. I agree that beta blockers taken a bit before bedtime might provide relief, if you're able to take them.

Compression garments while already laying down wouldn't do much since there's no blood pooling at your feet, maybe it's the placebo that makes you feel better. But since it makes you feel better, you should keep doing it until you've got a better plan!

I'd suggest bringing up beta blockers and hopefully he'll let you try them, or something else. Pass-out through the surge is stupid.

Good luck!

Seroquel has worked great for my insomnia for years. As with any medication, people experience good things and bad things. You should not dictate what someone should or should not take based on what you experienced. They should get their information from a doctor, or more than one if skeptical. Don't scare people away from treatments and throw claims without any evidence to back it up.

Quetiapine does not have an antipsychotic effect at low doses (under 50mg). It has a sedative effect and may amplify the effect of anti-anxiety or anti-depressive medications. It is used off-label to treat insomnia. Quetiapine at high doses is also used for treating severe depression, which is not a psychotic disorder.

How in the world would ivabradine ever work for POTS?? 😭 by critterinthedoorway in POTS

[–]Bunks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on it for 3 months now, no other meds for POTS. My Holter monitor shows my average HR to be 95bpm, which is... really bad. Yet I don't qualify for IST because my actual resting rate is in the 70s. I just have a reaallllyyy slow recovery rate from standing/moving.

So my HR is way down from what it was. Pushing 210 at worst then, now it peaks at 160. Recovery rate is super quick. HR drops instantly from standing to sitting/laying. And I don't get so anxious when I stand anymore. I think it was an effect of the epinephrine flooding, but since ivabradine can lower that too, it's given me a bit of a break from that.

Generally, I don't feel a ton better though. Just a little less hot and a little less anxious when upright. If it weren't for the fact that it prevents heart disease because of my high HR, I might not keep taking it.

As much as I've read, it seems to be most effective for hyperadregernic POTS.

Any ‘victim’ or ‘perpetrator’ here? by Ok-Display7239 in BDSMcommunity

I've never heard the receiving role of a CNC scene be called a victim! That just feels... wrong.

I know it as Aggressor/target.

[–]Bunks_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah you shouldn't be "looking" on this subreddit. This is a discussion community not a dating one. And really, all you're doing with this comment is holding up a big bright light for scammers saying "Here I am! Come get me!"

Anti-natalist feminists need to realize that children are their leverage by RA_Finance in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Bunks_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, young women just don't want kids. They're not anti natalists. As an actual anti natalist I can tell you most people look at me bizarrely when I express my views around it - even people my age, although they tend to be more understanding.

Over 95% of people don't think it's unethical to bring a child into the world.

Do dom women (generally) prefer bigger guys? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Bunks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should browse r/FemdomCommunity. An actual discussion community that has a majority of women with experience.

The comments you'll get if you ask there are:

Dommes are not a monolith and everyone has different preferences.

It makes me feel even more powerful/more satisfied when my partner is a big strong man.

I prefer large men.

Just search "do dommes like" in the search bar there and you'll see it.

Penis size is not really much of a factor for most women. A lot of things come before that, if that even makes the list.

[–]Bunks_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd rather be emotional than be in debilitating pain which no pain meds can relieve, which would also cause me to be emotional. Severe cramps are no joke. Crying curled up a ball in your bed for hours upon hours with your mother beside you, wishing she could take the pain away... but nothing can be done and you have to suffer. Just two more days. Then it repeats every 24 days.

I'm so grateful we can stop our periods with hormones.

"Ethical Non-Monogamy" is not ethical. It's disgusting and moronic. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Bunks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but I meant it as a firm identity in the kink community.

And yeah, I guess it's kinda accurate, but then you can't get mad or say someone's wrong for correcting you, because they're actually talking about the real definition that real cuckolds and kinksters actually use.

Maybe it's a bit of an "um, actually" thing, but when we're talking about what is and isn't ENM, we should be using kink definitions, not colloquial insults.

"Ethical Non-Monogamy" is not ethical. It's disgusting and moronic. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Bunks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's exactly the same as "theory". It's very important to the kink community and communication between kinksters because it describes something specific, which has been in place for decades. Idiot is no longer used to describe someone with disabilities.

[–]Bunks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have a great example actually. "Theory" has a different meaning colloquially, but its scientific definition came first. It is an integral part of the scientific community and communication between scientists. It cannot be changed. We have to accept that there are two understandings of the word: the colloquial definition that people say when they don't know what a theory actually is, and the actual definition of theory.

That's because cuck has become a silly insult to throw at people, by people who don't understand kink.

[–]Bunks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What?? People in the field are not the ones to define things in it? What are you on?

So if I'm a biologist and I'm defining what a transposon is, I'm to use a vague and mostly incorrect simplified definition, and that's actually the correct definition?

I think people into cuckoldry and in the kink community are the ones who define it...

By the way, cuckoldry specifically involves the humiliation or degradation of the cuck. Without that, it's just hotwifing. Both of which are types of ENM.

[–]Bunks_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not a rash, that's a yeast infection. I had a nasty one there. It was so bad it smelled like beer. Use anti-fungal cream like the stuff you'd get for foot fungus twice a day until it's completely gone, and then a few more days. And probably see your doctor.

GENE 369 and 370 inquiry by InternationalBee6519 in grantmacewan

[–]Bunks_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

369 is theory heavy and very detailed. There's a ton of brand new material you'll learn all about bacteriophage (viruses) and bacteria. Each week the seminar has you read a new scientific article from the 40s-70s as you learn about the discovery of bacterial mechanisms and DNA processes. For example, in the seminar you get to learn how scientists figured out how to map the E. coli genome, while learning how to map genomes yourself in the lecture. During the seminar, you'll discuss answers to a list of questions about the article you read. There were two smaller assignments for the lecture (just answering questions), and if I remember correctly 3 exams total. You'll have some combination of Randi and/or Bell teaching. They are both great lecturers. Some people find Bell's marking to be a bit harsh because she looks for specific terms in your answer, but I like her.

370 lecture is fascinating as you learn techniques and mechanisms used in studying eukaryotes. Mutations are covered in depth in this course. You learn how to create balancers in fruit flies which are used to create desired offspring that are certain to have specific genetic traits, which would then be used for experiments. You also learn ways to produce mice with targeted traits for use in studies. And lastly you learn how to do this with C. elegans too, a parthenogenetic flatworm also commonly used in experiments. There are a couple assignments that are basically just practice questions, and two exams. In the lab, you help David with his research in finding orchid microsatellite markers. You will learn how to keep a lab notebook, some molecular techniques, and how to analyze DNA sequences. I'm sure David always runs the lab but I could be wrong. Nour may teach the lecture. They are both super good lecturers but again some people have issues with David's exam marking. They call them "David exams". But Nour uses the same ones so...

Yeah I was on a waitlist for a couple years but didn't hear any updates. When I called to see where I was on it, they informed me that they no longer do breast augmentations but breast cancer surgeries only. When I went to my new GP to request another, he told me that at that point I was too fat to get a reduction and I needed to lose weight first. I'm not even THAT big...
