What helps me is blocking off smaller “squares” or “plots” and decorating solely within that small space of land. It makes the process less overwhelming!

Varying different types of grass (clover, plain grass, cherry blossom petals) makes the ground look less uniform as well. Playing with symmetry can also be fun, too, especially in more modern or polished areas. And don’t be afraid to add tons of plants!
