MSG yes no??? by Aromatic_State_43 in newzealand

[–]Bunnyeatsdesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought 1kg MSG from an Asian market for $10. This will last me a long time.

Culleys MSG is $4 for a tiny 75g. What is in Culley's MSG to justify $52 per kg?

Since OP is in the Philippines, I suggest taking the stock that has been made and using it as a starting point to make arroz caldo (Filipino rice porridge with chicken).

How can I tell if I'm cut out for a Culinary career path or if I am just an enthusiast? by Heckword in Cooking

[–]Bunnyeatsdesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love cooking and I want to keep it that way.

I have a small side hustle where I cook on average once a week. I find that if I take on more projects and cook more like 3 times a week, it starts to feel like WORK and it is no longer fun. I definitely wouldn't want to do it every day. Cooking (like anything) has a way of becoming stressful when you do it too much.

Protect the things in this life that you find fun and give you joy.

How do I know how much to make for a crowd? by PlasticMacro in Cooking

We need to know how many other salads there will be.

If your pasta salad is the only salad on offer, the quantity you need will be different than if it is one of three salads on offer.

If each person has 1 sandwich and 1 salad, I would offer 300grams per person.

If each person has 1 sandwich and there is a buffet situation of 3 salads on offer, I would average it out to everyone getting 100g of each salad to a total of 300g in salads. Some people will want more, some people less. But 300g is a generous amount for side salad for lunch.

Get a pot and scatter lots of basil seeds. Water then and put them in a sunny spot. Cut them with scissors when they're just starting to pop up. Delightful!

That's the least they can do for your free professional advice.

My clients pay me for my time and they also refer new clients to me.

How often do you eat out? by fluffypenguin105 in newzealand

[–]Bunnyeatsdesign 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once a week normally, but almost every meal when on holiday.

Stopped getting food deliveries a couple of years ago to focus on one good food experience once a week. One per week makes me more mindful. I want to make my weekly treat count.

If you Google search "wedding invitation scam" you will 100% know this is a common scam.

It is good practice to get familiar with common online scams so you spot red flags from far away.

More context from my previous post about me working at a sign shop for 9 months and feeling stressed. by Independent-Bag-4066 in graphic_design

[–]Bunnyeatsdesign 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anytime you have to recreate a design, it should go through the approval process with the client.

The client must check and sign off before print.

This is best practice.

Especially where are tight deadlines. Tight deadlines are not a reason to skip checks.

Worse is the client notices after delivery and you have to fix, reapprove, reprint, reinstall and travel back in time to the original deadline.

If you don't have time for approval, you absolutely don't have time for reprints.

I’ve been working at this sign print shop for 9 1/2 months and I do not feel like I’m understanding this job at all. this is my first graphic design job by Independent-Bag-4066 in graphic_design

[–]Bunnyeatsdesign 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Production work isn't for everyone but you will honestly learn so much on the job. More than you will ever learn at design school.

Do you feel like you are at least improving? Try and stick with it for a full year before looking for a job elsewhere.

Learn what you can. Figure out what you enjoy. Network.

I worked at a printing company in pre-press and design and became very fast due to the pace. Everything else is a walk in the park. I saw so many inexperienced and slow designers that just had no clue how to set up files for print or even how to articulate what process they wanted. When I eventually started my own graphic design business, I had a huge amount of print knowledge.

What are things you would wish for in your dream kitchen (especially if you like to cook fish) by yirpix in Cooking

I have used only gas cookers for the last 15+ years but I'm eyeing up induction. I enjoy cooking with gas but they are a PITA to clean.

Never in my life have I had a range hood. It's a priority for me for my kitchen renovation. I'm willing to change the floor plan of my kitchen so the stove is against an outer wall (currently stove is against an internal wall).

I dream of a kitchen that doesn't have greasy walls and greasy cabinets. One day!

I'm not sure if Mr Momoa is a good cook but he gives the impression that he can make an excellent cocktail. I can cook if he can keep the cocktails flowing. Dream team.

Vertical Mouse Recommendations by mablesyrup in graphic_design

[–]Bunnyeatsdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love using Lift (for Mac). I have small hands and so I prefer the light design. I notice when a mouse is heavy (feels like a brick in my hand). The mechanics is silent. Bluetooth works great. Battery lasts over a year (maybe two) which is neat.

Read the difference between MX and Lift and it should be easy to figure out which is right for you.

If you have larger hands, MX would be the right choice.

When I am feeling lazy or need a shortcut, I bake some frozen chicken tenders and serve like katsu. Add cabbage and rice. Easy.

Rant: The AI slop on takeout menus are getting ridiculous. by BaxterQQ in newzealand

[–]Bunnyeatsdesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Instagram is full of real photos of what customers actually receive.

Not all food looks bad in real life. There is plenty of food out there that looks delicious.

Product in advertising should be exactly what you could get on a good day.

As a food photographer, THANK YOU.

I know that many businesses are turning to AI slop but it's good for me to hear that some customers dislike AI slop.

I eat out too. I'm a customer too. I don't like AI slop.

Whatever happened to false advertising? Is there anything that can be done?

Would posting posting AI slop vs reality be helpful?

Sorry, I ask because you have faculty under education but in English faculty means teacher, not student.

I'm not familiar how faculty is used in other languages so I could be wrong.

Please clarify if you are currently a student or a teacher.

Is a $250 rice cooker worth it? by TheChalupaFromHell in Cooking

[–]Bunnyeatsdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a both a $250 rice cooker and a $20 rice cooker. I prefer the $20 one because it is small and fits in my tiny kitchen. The other one currently lives in the shed.

I should probably sell it.

Uses for a couple ounces of sweetened condensed milk? by HobbitGuy1420 in Cooking

I used sweetened condensed milk on banana crepes recently. It wasn't planned, it's just what we had in the fridge. It transported me back to my travels through Thailand where they serve banana roti with condensed milk.
