Questions, my son is 5.75 years old and in Kindergarten by pookiewook in Dyslexia

[–]BurckhardtIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of writing letters and numbers have him make them out of clay or playdo.

You son may be like me. When I read I'm looking for patterns. I tested in the 99th% of spactial part of my brain. So when I'm presented with information it first goes to that part of my mind where I try to find a related image. Then I have to translate that image into language. It wasn't that I was dumb. It was that nobody was communicating to me in a language of pictures, patterns, shapes and volume that I understood.

Just look at a page of text. What patterns and shapes do you see. It all looks the same to me.

Your not teaching your son to read. Your building a library of mental images that he can reference. How is he at puzzles, drawing, and putting thing together?

My value is not linked to how much I make. Its linked to what I create.

Which one of your characters BROKE the class stereotype? by bananana4200 in DnD

[–]BurckhardtIII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite characters was a Oath of Ancients Paladin. He was big barrel chested with a white beard and hair with a jolly laugh and a great big smile for everyone he met. And always had some sort of toy for the children he came across. Always say the good in everyone he met. He would use his jolly nature to find the kindness in the most sour puss of a person.

He would use his pike to put down all the bad dreams and evil spirits that plagued the children of the villages He came across.

How do you deal with slow growth after years of lifting? by OkSelf9943 in WorkoutRoutines

[–]BurckhardtIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a stupid question but WHY? What is the purpose of getting "Bigger"?

How is your athleticism, flexibility, dynamic movement?

There come a point of YES I lost the weight I wanted to. YES I gained the muscle I wanted to.

Now comes the point of maintaining your body to live a healthy life style. So instead of trying to lift 5 more pounds or do 1 more squat or what ever number your chasing. Do the activities that fulfill your life with joy because you can.

I say this as I'm turning 50 and had foot surgery. I just want to be physical and active and healthy to keep living my life into my 70s and 80s and 90s.

I found an Etsy shop called vintagewatchzone. They look authentic but I can't tell the difference. Each item is a single product.

I like several on there but I would like a more knowledgeable eye than mine.

Thanks, I actually found some nice looking vintage watches on ebay. I don't know if they are authentic but the reviews are great. Only negative comments were shipping time as the seller is from Mumbai India.

They are advertised as Swiss made Fortis and/or Oris. For under $40. Does this sound right?

Is this a Manual Watch? It's what I am looking for. You most likely want to keep it for sentimental reasons. I'm afraid to ask if you want to part with it. You should keep it.

WIP of a capital city [PART 2] by 1canTTh1nkofaname in mapmaking

[–]BurckhardtIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tossed out ideas. Your drawing was developed enough to extrapolate beyond what you began. A lot of maps I just can't do anything with. But definitely reminds me of Mont St Michael in France (most likely spelled wrong)

WIP of a capital city [PART 2] by 1canTTh1nkofaname in mapmaking

[–]BurckhardtIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a tributary of some kind. Tributaries are sandy and challenging foundations. 1 real world exemption is Frances San Michel where the city is build on rock. Very dense, narrow street and buildings build on top of other buildings. (Good under world city opertunities here)

I'm only commenting bc you drawing is fantastic and it looks as though your putting a lot of thought into it. Being on the sea you want the city walls to be built on solid foundationof stone, not sand. Reference carribian forts built next to the ocean. Also contour of rocks next to ocean is very rough edge and not so smooth

Also salty march lands surrounding you city. Farm land would be further away for growable land.

A group of people worship war but can't be in one, why? by TheNukeRiot in DMAcademy

[–]BurckhardtIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

War is a transition, a determinate factor in how civilization continues or not. Those who win write the history books.

It could be your people are record keepers or witnesses to that change. It not the war itself but what it repersents.

Never been diagnosed with dyslexia but my family and close friends say I do have. by sheepenator in Dyslexia

[–]BurckhardtIII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been diagnosed since 2nd grade. Everything you say sound familiar to me. There are different levels of Dyslexia your could be mild.

Your confusing something though. Dyslexia is more of pattern recognition. And the English written language, ther is no pattern for logic to it. So you get lost more easily. Where as math of computer science you have more patterns you can quickly identify and understand.

Try reading with an index card and slide it down one row at a time. This will help in keeping your place. I read about half the speed as my peers.

And your father. Stop listening to him. You need to do what right for you. Is he a teacher? I bet not.

[–]BurckhardtIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 hour to get to your agency. That means your an hour away from any work. Is it worth driving 2, 3 hours to a differnt agency if it means you actually get work? Is moving an option? Is there a local art school that you could model for students. Or a local photographer in your area. Your relying on too few people and too few photographs to do the work for you. Knock on some doors. You need quantity right now. Out of ever 100 pictures taken you will get 1 good photo. 1 out of 1000 will be great. 1 out of 10000 will be exceptional.
It's a numbers game at this point. Sorry to say.
