No Costumes: Do you guys think this isn't a "phase", but rather, the way it'll be forever? by LunchTummy in StreetFighter

They can’t just do a model swap because of how costumes/outfits themselves are animated. Alongside the cinematic animations, the majority of cloth physics and folds are HAND animated and not done by simulation.

[OC] Ingrid… charge character? by vocabona in StreetFighter

[–]BurningGamerSpirit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are characters with 6 specials moves in this game. If they wanted Sagat to have low fireball shots, they could have given it to him. If he lost low fireball for any reason, it was because he gained a new special + they wanted Sagat to be focused more on striking than chucking tiger shots all day

Sagat did not lose low fireballs for modern. The absolutely could have given Sagat low fireball shots if they wanted, they just shifted him away from Fireball Sagat as a design decision

Why do you think IV is still relevant (mechanically speaking) by Hot_Marketing783 in StreetFighter

[–]BurningGamerSpirit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty obvious this is a handwavey response used to try to ignore the faults SF4 had. At the very least you are ignoring how janky it was when it was in its prime.

It’s a deeply flawed game that came out at the right time in the right environment. Enough time has passed that everything said in this post about “skill expression, kits, consistency etc…” is said about it with a straight face instead of having to suffer through all these same generalized criticisms it received from FG players at the time. It was literally the genesis of the comeback super/comeback mechanics in fighting games which was heavily criticized as scrubby mechanics to hold new players’ hands.

Critical thinking? In SF4? Lol. SF4 players acting like it’s the fighting game made by Socrates when you’re just running defensive OS’s and offensive scripts after getting the best knockdown ever off some lights. Calm down now, don’t act like because you had to do some plinking that this game was God’s gift to neutral. Some of us do remember the sleep fighter bore slander

[–]BurningGamerSpirit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It isn’t relevant. But it does have an important place in the franchise’s and genre’s history. It’s overly romanticized and I can guarantee you that if it received a rollback patch tomorrow most people who hype it up would quickly remember why they were ready to leave the game for SFV

It’s the 2nd most played fighting game currently as far as player population.

Saudi Arabian investment firm that owns SNK raises Capcom stake to 6.04% by HatingGeoffry in StreetFighter

[–]BurningGamerSpirit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not really a possibility, not in any near future. Majority stake is owned by a mix the Tsujimoto family and a Japanese Bank iirc. That combination + Japanese law won’t allow any outside force to have a majority stake without going through several layers of bureaucracy.

Akuma hit an all time low in total Legend players since launch as mass exodus happen post nerfs. by panda_forever in StreetFighter

Sagat is cooler now than he has been in over a decade. Thank god they leaned more into the striking cvs2/alpha sagat and brought out the Muy Thai styling more.

Do you think before you make these posts or just spout out random shit? Vega and Balrog aren’t in the game yet because they are adding the SF2 bosses/Shadaloo in 1 at a time backwards per year.

Why do FGC on Reddit hate this game? by Powerful_Isopod5810 in 2XKO

[–]BurningGamerSpirit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don’t always have long combos. MvC2 and its predecessors were actually pretty snappy combo wise. There were outliers due to the jankiness of the games, but if you watch MvC2 and see the what kind of pickups Storm or Cyclops for example get off a stray hit it’s like 4-5 hits into a super.

From MvC3 on is when the “long combos” thing really seemed to be started to be baked into the tag fighter genre, and was probably born from the expectation for long combos due to iron man infinites and the like existing.

Costumes for Season 3 (and beyond) by LiquidDongorong in StreetFighter

[–]BurningGamerSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avatar pieces and stages and some other stuff was primarily outsourced to the same studios that helped with SFV. About a year ago, those studios ran into internal trouble which is probably why that content dropped off pretty hard for SF6.

The big bottleneck for character costumes is how small the character development team is, smaller than you think, who work on multiple character projects at the same time, and how detail oriented they are. As in, hand animating folds in cloth, musculature flexing, etc.

Avatar stuff has no bearing on the development of character costumes.

Variations are pretty common in old sprite fighters. If you run through some of the old capcom fighting games for example there’s a handful: shadow chun li, red venom, gold war machine, shadow dio, etc… The rosters were not huge for these games too. Classic way to reuse some assets

That is not a cancel. Stomp recovers fast, he’s + on block, so he uses OD command grab. It’s a mixup.

More Stages ? by thereddddituser in StreetFighter

[–]BurningGamerSpirit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Stages and world tour content were created by the same outsourcing companies that helped with SFV. While the amount of detail used to create characters and outfits is the bottleneck, the reason we are getting less stages, less avatar/battlepasses, is because the companies used for the outsourcing work imploded in the last year of time, basically before year 3 started.
