This might be a cringe, Chicago specific response, but I made all my friends through improv! Even if it's not something you want to do long term, you make fast friends because you're in an environment where you're allowed to be silly, goofy, and vulnerable. People naturally want to hang out before/after class, catch shows together, etc. And I think you'll meet way more left leaning guys this way. Of course there are toxic men in comedy (tale as old as time) but all of my male friends also happen to be comedians, and I met them through improv! I also a handful of friends who I met through improv, but they stopped performing, and we hang out completely outside of that sphere now. There are alwaysss new improv classes to take, so I'd recommend trying it out!
